  1. Definitely my last post to try and help others with this problem - sold our 2019 Edge last month which had ~12000 miles on it. And never, ever had any shift problems after flushing the adaptive cache once. This is a s/w problem and a simple s/w fix. Did this once last April (or March?) and the tranny always acted normal afterwards. It was real bad before the flush same as what most are reporting - in fact I was really unhappy and second guessing the purchase. But using Forscan and flushing/resetting the cache just one time permanently fixed the problem. The poor shifting issue never came back. So I continue to suggest this as one proven fix for the problem. Yep, some may have real tranny issues, valve problems, faulty torque converters, etc., but do you really think a lot of h/w is going to fail especially since these are not new components? IMO I think it's the poorly skilled dealership mech's guessing at causes when someone describes the problem. Good luck and enjoy your Edge's / ST's! BTW the shift-into-reverse jump/jolt was terrible and never went away. If anything it seemed to get worse no matter what i did to try and fix it. But don't care now!
  2. If you look back one page you'll see the instructions. It involves using Forescan.
  3. Another update: it's been roughly three months since clearing the adaptive cache, and the tranny shifts perfectly. Problem is definitely gone. No software update required. No parts were broken. My Edge is working as expected. Very happy this was a simple fix. Hope others can try this.
  4. The adaptive tables. Right at the top of the list in Forscan. Would be curious to hear the results from someone else - seems like no one has tried this in this thread which is too bad.
  5. Slipping in another update: my ST continues to shift absolutely fine. Flushing the adaptive cache corrected the poor shifting. It's now been almost six weeks and the tranny shifts exactly the same as it did right after the flush and when it was driven off the lot back in January. No slip or hang or lag in the 2-3 and 3-4 changes. And 7-8 both shift predictably and exactly when expected. I have not gone in for the TSB...
  6. Another update: Almost another week has passed and my ST continues to shift properly. It's my daily driver and clearing the adaptive cache definitely corrected the problem for the past 5-6 weeks. Will only report again if the problem comes back.
  7. Curious to hear did you ever try clearing the adaptive learning cache? May be worth a try if you have the gear or buy the OBD unit for $19.
  8. Update from my prior post: another week has passed and the tranny continues to behave normally. Shifts fast, no hang especially in the 3>4 gear change. Top end also works absolutely fine with 7th and 8th consistently shifting without any delay. The adaptive learning 'feature' is definitely a factor and is likely the cause of the shifting problems. Question is why is it the cause, and this could anything from bad software design, a software bug or unexpected sensor input or conditions among other things. One thing to ask everyone who has this problem and that's how did you drive your car for the first 1500 miles? Was it mainly highway, city or combo? I mainly drove highway where there was little shifting time in the lower gears. Perhaps this was an unexpected behavior for the code during its adaptive learning period. Who knows...
  9. Signed up to help contribute to this thread: I had the same 3rd gear hang as others have reported. And it was corrected by deleting the adaptive learning cache using Forscan. Have to assume anyone that had their modules updated by the TSB or other are also likely benefiting from the cache being purged. It's been three weeks since the change and shifting continues to be back to normal. No hang. No odd slip-type sensation. Feels like a normal tranny with solid shifting. I'll report back in a few weeks. Edit: Forgot to add that the 7th and 8th gear shifts are also normal after the cache clear. Goes into 8th like clockwork right at 64mph every single time on the highway. About 1600 rpm. And downshifts immediately when accelerating.
