  1. I didnt want my Edge to sound like garbage rattle box like every other vehicle I've seen with stop/start feature after some mileage on it, so disabled it with Forscan.

The Edge ST to me is OK but could be a lot better.

Transverse layout makes it difficult to work on.

Plastic oil pan. If you get too Hoonigan and find a curb with your oil pan its destroyed.

Plastic everything, intercooler pipes, intake manifold, this thing should cost $38 as its mostly made of plastic :)

Small two piston brakes up front, single pistons in rear. For the price, weight, performance it should have two piston rear, 4 piston in front.

No paddle shifting other than on steering wheel

Needs another 50 ft/lb torque everywhere

Needs some updates to the tranny shifting points

Other than that its very quiet and luxurious so I can see why a normal Edge owner wouldn't care about anything I listed above :)

  2. My owners manual says SP-542, but when I went to the dealer they tell me these plugs are superseded by the SP-578 plug & they dont have any information as far as heat range or material. A couple of googles also really didnt produce any factual data about this new plug. Does anyone know what the difference is and which one is optimal? Other than "tuners recommend 542" once all those plugs are gone we will be stuck with the 578's good or bad.

I don't know if those will work or not, but this is the one that I use. There are several other members here that use the same one.

Thanks! I wanted to stay with a cabled solution but I guess Bluetooth would be fine too.

  4. I had a lot of the same questions as you as far as which tuning solution I’m going to use. Coming from Ecuflash which is free and has a huge community support, looking at the tuning options for this car or even US cars in general is daunting.

On the plugs, you would want to run a closer gap only if your getting high rpm misfires. Otherwise running a wider gap will make more power. Colder plug would help on pump/race gas if your making a lot more whp than stock. Stock/hotter plug usually works better for E85-100.

No one on FEF that we're aware of and if you did you'd first have to ID the Duro rating of the stock bushing and use an equivalent or else your wasting your time & money.

The front mount is fine for stock & so far for up to 500 whp and resonably easy to access for your average gear head.

So if your not interested in giving your Edge an Edge and the stock mounts are proving fine with higher performance then I'm not getting your concern...:banghead:

For example on the Evo replacing the rear mount causes more NVH than replacing the front mount, so majority just go with the front mount and OEM rear/sides unless race car.

Filling the OEM mount comes from the DSM crowd where filling with $10 of urethane was cheaper than buying an aftermarket mount but was also a good trade-off of NVH vs the aftermarket mounts higher durometer rating. Trying to have your cake and eat it too with stiffer bushings and NVH is often not possible, I understand.

Haven't noted any mention on this forum.

Besides if your not Tuning the majority of engine Mods will not have a significant benefit until the Tune is modified to know it's there and tweaked to take full advantage of it...:victory:

Yea aftermarket support seems to be pretty poor from what I've gathered. I wish there was something like Ecuflash support. I'm not a fan of canned/off the shelf maps but also not a fan of doing pulls on the freeway. My local dynojet shop doesn't want to tune it unless Cobb has an AP for it so I guess its Livernois or Unleashed for me. The throttle body looked like an easy mod though even if its only good for a few whp.

  7. Rather than making a new thread I thought I'd bump this one.

Has anyone tried filling the OEM motor mount with 3M window sealant or the like? Is the front motor mount too difficult to get at? In other FWD-based AWD platforms the front mount is usually the first to be replaced. I can tell the engine/drivetrain shifts back and forth a lot and could benefit from better mounts, however, its not a race care and is supposed to be a comfortable, quiet daily driver.
