  1. Hey Everybody,

I just bought a dongle and downloaded Forscan onto my laptop.  I followed all the instructions for setup, but when I hooked up to the car I got the message in the photo and couldn't do anything at all.  Does anyone know if I need to return to the stock tune in order to use Forscan? If so, will the changes hold after I re-load the tune?  Or do I need to contact my tuner and get the information its asking for? OR should I already have that information somewhere? Any help/advice would be much appreciated.   Thanks guys.

  2. I ordered the ST airbox from AFE and installed it in my 2017 Sport today.  The cover they make is actually only pre-order and won't be Available til October.  They are actually out of this intake completely and said orders are 10-12 weeks out.  Alas, there are still websites that have some, and some available on Amazon.  I went to home depot and bought some heat resistant plexiglass type stuff (was $5), cut it to size with a tool they sold (was also $5), and made a little gasket out of 30lb gorilla double-sided tape to hold it in place.  Then I went around it w a couple layers of electrical tape to ensure its seal and security.  Pretty happy with it so far, not loud at all (especially compared to the KN CAI i had in my 14 edge sport).  Ill be happier when they send my blue (oiled) filters that have a couple hundred cfm better flow.  Anyways, it fits great.  You'd be nuts not to have a lid of some sort w how hot these bays get..

Based upon your past Forum posts, I expect this information will equip you for a likely DIY repair.

The online 2017 Edge Workshop Manual describes the Body Control Module (BCM) role in stoplamps operation…

And the quasi-fusing effect of the above-mentioned Field Effect Transistor (FET) in stoplamp fault conditions is described as…

Here is the full Stoplamps Diagnosis and Testing Procedure, though your need is only for the “One Or More Stoplamps Are Inoperative” portion, which I have expanded for the Rear Lamp Assembly Left Hand connector testing detail,

which involves this Rear Lamp Assembly connector…

Though simple, here is the Rear Lamp Assembly removal procedure...

Dude... That is the most in-depth, thought out, just awesome reply I could have ever asked for.  Thank you so much for taking the time.  I am no mechanic, but I do electrical/hvac work for a living and I can't wait to start testing those outputs tomorrow.  Although, I suspect this will end with me buying a new taillight at $350..  Thanks again

  5. Had a coworker notify me yesterday that my driver side brake light was not working.  Upon investigation, I found that when I press the brake, the driver side Brake LEDs flash but wont stay lit as I hold the brake (passenger side and top brake light working fine).  Obviously it cant be a bulb, so I figured must be a fuse, right? But I do not see any fuse listed as being for our brake lights.... Anybody got any suggestions on what it might be??

Traded in my 14 Edge Sport for a 17 Edge sport a few months back.  I had JUST put these mods on the car less than a week before I sold it (wasn't planning on selling it when I bought them).  Looking for $180 for the CAI ($280 value), AF Dynamic w a KN filter.  AF Dynamic is gaining reputation on Amazon and Ebay, Pipe is very nice quality but I had better results w the KN filter (I will include both).  Silver heat sheild came w it and works/ fits good but I wanted black so I bought the Kyostar sheild and attached it w a zip tie (will include zip ties).  You will also need to go to your local parts store and buy the two lengths of hose circled on the directions (will be less than $10).  Caliper covers may have a few small scuffs but are basically brand new, clips and directions included, $160 (cost me $230).  Akrapovic Carbon Fiber exhaust tips - $40/$30 (one is scraped up from rubbing the bumper) or $65 for the pair.  Shipping on your dime from Maryland 20878.  PM me if you are interested.   Thanks!

Could you post a link to the ones you bought.

I have Ford ones on the front but they don't match the trim contours.

I have 20K miles on the Atturo tires and so far happy with them - the only issue is they get flat spots in cold weather which makes them vibrate a little for the first couple of miles.

    Are you happy with them?

    Check this out at Amazon

I have been liking the Atturo Tires as well, no issues w grip accelerating or braking, and they are a bit more quiet than the DeLintes that were on it when I bought it.  Dude..... that vibrating/shimmy on cold days has been driving me crazy! I had no idea what it was! I have been looking at everything in the wheel assembly and couldn't figure it out, my tires only have 6k miles, so I didn't even consider that they could be the issue.. Thank you for that piece of information!

Hey There! I am so sorry, I did not see your post until this morning.  You can get badge overlays for the front and rear "Ford" ovals all over the internet if you do a google search, I got mine on ETSY for like $20 or something, same with the overlays with the centercaps on the wheels, ETSY for $15.  For the rear lettering "EDGE" and "SPORT", I used Hyperdip (a much MUCH better version of plastiDip)- shadow black.  I have actually taken off all of the overlays now (just bc I like to change things up) and I did the Shadow Black Hyperdip on the front and rear Ford Ovals, and I just peeled it off of the FORD in the middle, so now I have Black ovals w chrome lettering inside, and I bought new black/chrome centercaps on ebay for $20.  The EcoBeast overlay for the Ecoboost badge is also on etsy, it says its for a ford fusion, but it fits ours also.  Let me know if you haver trouble finding any and I can help dig up the links to everything.  Hope that helps!

    Livernois uses the mycalibrator exclusively.

Unleashed Tuning uses SCT or HPTuners.

    ZFG uses HPTuners

    BCB uses HPTuners or SCT

    Tuning by James uses SCT

Not all tunes are created equal etc. Some prefer using a device that they can use between tuners. Some have their preferred tuner and prefer brand loyalty etc. It will ultimately boil down what mods you have/ want.

If your not planning on doing any mods apart from the run of the mill mods then Livernois will rock your world. I believe that the second and third fastest edge used LMS when they ran. (basically traction mods, a thermostat)  On some forums some say Unleashed feels faster (butt dyno) than LMS. YMMV

On the flip side of the equation, the worlds fastest edge which incidentally is also the worlds most modded edge uses ZFG.

Unleashed BCB and ZFG and Tuning by James will tune your car specifically, meaning that your tune is made exclusively for your car and the mods you have.  If you're going to go with with larger turbos, catless down pipes, meth, or anything that is not off the shelf, then you're going to want to go with a tuner that will run logs and makes incremental adjustments accordingly.

LMS doesn't seem to play nice with mods that they can't tune by dyno.  One member lost their motor and other members on other forums etc. Not saying that LMS is bad, quite the contrary. They're good at what they do.

If you want to blaze your own path and define your vision of the sport in our edge sports then you should select a tuner that will grow with you and tune accordingly.

Great information,  very helpful. Thanks very much to everyone who chimed in, I truly appreciate you taking the time.  I ended up ordering the SCT X4 from Unleashed today and I will get a 93 tune.  I can't wait!!

Can't say about the Unleashed tuner, but on livernois E30 tune I get 25-26mpg highway.  On their 93 performance tune, I get 30+mpg highway, if I keep my foot out of it.  The tune actually helped it get better gas mileage when off boost.  I'm sure it'll be similar results with any other brand tuner.

Thank you for the response. I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I have never had a car tuned before.. So since you have the Livernois tune, does that mean that you bought the Livernois "My Calibrater" tuner? Or can you buy an X4 and still get the livernois tune? If so, Is there one that people like better, the MyCalibrator or the SCT X4?

That is amazing!  I can't believe that both of you are getting better gas mileage with the tune, that seals it for me and I'm ordering tonight! Exhaust covers are super easy, 4 bolts on each, 2 star and 2 tiny hex heads, I actually had to go buy one of those tiny ratchet sets bc mine didn't have a small enough size.  Kind of a pain to get to a couple of them, (I didn't use a jack or ramp) but you can have em both off in 20 minutes.  It leaves you with enough room for tips that are 7.5"-8" across.  I went with 89mm tips which were 7.5" total width.  I also had to cut about an inch off of the exhaust pipe to get it to the depth I wanted, but that will be dependent on the tips you purchase of course.  Thank you for the information, I really really appreciate it.

I apologize,  I should have noted that those are the sizes that you can fit if you want to retain the factory clips for possible later use (wanna be able to put em back on when I turn it in one day).  If you are willing to cut those clips, then you could go a bit wider.  As you can see, there is still a bit of room on both sides of the factory cuts..

Your ride looks sweet! I love the quad exhaust tips!!! I didn’t know I needed that until I saw it on yours. So I went with the SCT tuner power package. I didn’t end up changing the thermostat but I did have the spark plugs swapped. I’m still waiting on my Green air filter as well. My drive is similar to yours and I’m getting around 22 mpg with a 93 octane tune. I put it in sport a lot though. If I set cruise on the highway I average high 20s. I highly recommend it, I’ve been telling all my buddy’s with eco boosts to look into it. Totally changes the feel. When I leave it in drive it’s still very well behaved but when I drop it into sport it feels as fast as my g37 was. I haven’t done any real tests, just flooring it up to highway speeds or goosing it on backroads but I’m very pleased with it.
How easy is it to remove the exhaust covers and slap those quad tips on?

    Hello,

I am also new to the forum (joined yesterday), I bought a 2017 Edge Sport just over a month ago, 32k miles, also Shadow Black.  So far I have added the JLT catch can, KN drop-in, HikeIt throttle accelerator, and the Boomba Adjustable BOV adapter (just wanted to see if I liked the VTA sound before deciding which Turbosmart to get) and Atturo AZ 850s 265/40/21.  Some cosmetic stuff, 20% tint, tinted fog and mirror lights, window visors, hood skin, hyperdip blacked out badges, and black/red overlays on all ford emblems that I'm in the process of changing out now, black/red EcoBeast AWD overlay, Akrapovic carbon fiber dual exhaust tips (removed those stupid factory covers), glossy carbon fiber interior trim panel. My next purchase was going to be the power package from unleashed, or just the tuner/tunes from LMS. So I just had a few questions: How have you been liking the unleashed tune? Which tuner did you choose? Did the tune totally crush your gas mileage? Do u recommend it? My DD is about 6 miles city, 40 hghwy round trip, very little traffic. Thanks very much for any response
