    Hello,

I got a new St-line a week ago. I was messing around with trying to get the hands free lift gate ti open with no luck. Stopped at the dealership and was told mine doesn't have that feature. It's part of the basic build of the ST-line. Dealership said to look at the window sticker and see what's listed. If the hands free lift gate was not listed, I would see a credit on the MSRP. Well my window sticker has just the basic power lift gate listed and no credit. I'm so mad about this. It's a small-ish thing, but why did I pay full price for missing options. Yes, I should have noticed before I took delivery, but who thinks a basic option would have been left off without warning. I have been a very loyal ford customer. For years, but this situation has burned me. I feel like I'm now dealing with a dirty company that hides things. The Dealership told me the part were probably not available... then a discount sounds logical, right?

    What are your thoughts?

Be thankful you don't have it.  The motion sensor cannot differentiate an intended kick from other movements.  It's easily triggered while loading and unloading or just cleaning off the rear window.  It's a real annoyance.

Yes, I'm now thinking I should take this to the dealer for warranty repair as you mentioned. Gez, I just purchased this vehicle like two weeks ago. Didn't realize this button wasn't working although I recall trying to figure out how to turn the radio off. The salesperson appeared not to know, although he may have just didn't want to mention it.  ?

I love everything about this car. Also came equipped with the panoramic roof which is a nice touch.

Just been troubled over this radio situation.

It looks like you have a 2022 which I believe is identical to the 2021 as there wasn't many changes made in these years. Does the center portion of your volume button push in and back out when pressed?

Would be nice to view a photo of what a proper placement of those buttons should look like.

You will love your car once they fix this.  They have been de-contenting the Edge for a few years.  Although they are basically identical, 2022 misses a few things from 2021, 2023 misses a few more, etc.  (For instance, I don't have a glove box light.)  The center of the button is spring loaded and goes in and comes back out flush with the silver ring.

  3. I didn't get a paper manual, but I prefer the PDF version on my computer.  It's easy to search when I'm looking for something.  The one on the car's display is worthless.  It's worded like they are trying to save paper.  They should go into more detail since it isn't on paper any more.

  4. Of all the posts I've read, I don't recall anyone citing an actual problem that it has caused.  They just don't like it and/or just want to complain.  It can be unnerving but not like my 2019 Escape.  The stop and restart was more noticeable.  In the Edge it's smoother and quieter.

Mine only kicks in a few months out of the year.  I keep windows up and climate control on.  The engine is quiet anyway so I have to look at the dash to see if it's stopped.

  5. It is my understanding that many of the deep sleep messages were programming errors and you weren't actually going into deep sleep mode.  I got the messages, too, but the car functioned fine.  I read something about this recently but I don't recall where.

Auto start / stop is very complex.  There are posts in this forum that list the criteria.  During the summer, mine seldom kicks in.  But that's okay.  If auto start / stop doesn't kick in, it doesn't necessarily indicate a bad battery.

If the dealer has tested your battery and it shows good, I wouldn't fret it.  Take the trip and enjoy the drive.

  6. I've had an Escape and it was cramped and noisy.  The Explorer is too big for my taste.  I am not ready to buy an EV.  I have an extended warranty on my 2022 for 60 months/60,000 and it's paid for.  I intend to drive it for a while yet, but I still like to look around for my next purchase.  I have driven Ford/Mercury since 1985 but this is my last.  Currently, Ford/Lincoln does not offer what I want and the Ecoboost fiasco has left a bad taste in my mouth.  I'm leaning toward Mercedes-Benz (German made, not Alabama).

  7. Sync4 is just weird sometimes.  I have issues that intermittently show up.  (Fails to display the USB playlist or shows Sirius while USB is playing.)  I never know what may pop up each time I start the car.  But it's all little stuff - just annoying and totally intermittent.  Next time you start the car it will be fine.  I haven't taken it in about this.  I've received some OTA updates since and it doesn't seem to act up as often.

I've done a master reset on the 2022 and I did NOT lose my presets.  I just had to repair the phone and the app.

Your problem sounds almost like "seat memory" or MyKey.  I don't think the audio system is set up for that, though.

  8. I have a 2022 model and hate this "feature" as well.  One option that I use (without modifying the car) is to keep the keys out of my pockets when I am doing something in the back.  When you have big feet, you can't help but trigger the darn thing inadvertently.  When I'm at the car wash, I leave the keys on the console and that seems to keep the liftgate from opening at a bad time.

Update on my Ford pass issue, I tried to activate vehicle got same error message, so this time I called ford support, had a great gal who was knowledgeable and was able to provide me some great info regarding my vehicle, she stated that my vehicle hadn’t communicated with Ford in the last few days and she could see    lots of communication errors at her end, she told me apparently my dealership tried back in June 2022 to flash the TsB info to this vehicle via usb but they couldn’t get to the flash to work. Decision then was to replace complete screen and modem thru warranty(previous owners)……but this rep states that the service records indicated that after replacement there was still problems (she didn’t specify)…….we both guessed that service department got new screen working correctly at some point and the previous owners traded in the vehicle…… I am questioning as to why they traded in so soon? Maybe ongoing screen issues?.   As stated I purchased this edge used from same dealership, ford pass rep told me to take it in for service, maybe some loose wiring etc……back to dealership Monday….keep you posted

Ford has had some programming issues with Sync 4 but I think they are resolved now.  I still need to take mine in for an update but my issues are extremely minor and involve music on USB.  Ford support is always helpful but you really lucked out.  You are going to love your car.  I had Activex in my last car and it's great.  In fact the 2023 Titanium uses it instead of leather.

  10. You may need to do a master reset in Sync.  Since you just got it, it probably needs it done anyway.  If it still won't, in the app go to account > help > and call.  The rep may be able to help you get connected.  What color is your SEL?

I do note that my door sills and glove box are illuminated. Really? No glove box light? Even my old civic had a glove box light in the 80s. Maybe it is burned out. Does your center console SUPER-deep cubby automatically turn off if you close the lid with the headlights on? Just be curious if this is normal. If not, then my OCD will get triggered and I'll rip the entire console out of the car to fix it. I'm weird that way.

Nope, they deleted the lighted door sills a few years back - it's solid metal now.  The glove box light was deleted in 2022.  The cubby in the console is not even lighted.  No telling what will be left in the 2023's.
