I do note that my door sills and glove box are illuminated. Really? No glove box light? Even my old civic had a glove box light in the 80s. Maybe it is burned out. Does your center console SUPER-deep cubby automatically turn off if you close the lid with the headlights on? Just be curious if this is normal. If not, then my OCD will get triggered and I'll rip the entire console out of the car to fix it. I'm weird that way.

Nope, they deleted the lighted door sills a few years back - it's solid metal now.  The glove box light was deleted in 2022.  The cubby in the console is not even lighted.  No telling what will be left in the 2023's.

I had a 2015 Edge Sport and now I have a 2018 Edge Sport. I have been noticing a few changes and I wonder if this is normal.

In looking at the ambient lighting, I notice on the 2018 that my map pockets (in the doors) are no longer illuminated. Is that right? My interior door handles ARE lit up, so I know there is power there. Should the door pockets be illuminated or did they remove that for some reason? Is there an option that wasn't checked to include map pocket lighting?

I also noticed that the big/deep center console location is lit up even with the lid closed (if headlights are on). On my 2015, the light would turn off as the lid was ALMOST closed. Did they save a few pennies by not having a switch?

They've continued to nibble away at little things, too.  My 2022 only has ambient in door handles, foot wells, and cup holders.  Door sill is no longer illuminated and no glove box light.  I would have gladly paid more if given the option, but it is what it is.

2021 ST. Use Google maps sometimes, but recently started using built in navigation. Voice guidance is on, toggled it between tone and voice. Reset APIM, still starts giving starting navigation drive safe message, then no more guidance commands. Anyone else? Car did just download an update telling me getting ready for Alexa update, but not sure if that's what killed it. Called Ford, they said can't help, take it for service. Stupid.

I got the update you mention, too.  I tested my navigation this morning and it works fine so the update didn't affect it.

The only problems so far with my 2022 ST Sync 4A is that it does not remember my Alexa login after a few restarts and also does not hold my Ambient Lighting setting to stay turned on.  Like the two settings reset after a few starts.  Never has held either setting for more that two days time.

I've noticed the same thing with Alexa.  I don't think it's supposed to do that.  In your Amazon account, you will see the original registration date when you set it up in Sync.  But the car doesn't retain it.  I keep QR Droid on my phone's home screen.  If I take a lengthy trip where I might want Alexa, I can re-enable it quickly.  It's annoying but I've gotten used to it.  QR Droid is your friend if you want to use Alexa.  ?

I'm not a nighttime driver so the Ambient Lighting isn't such an annoyance.  Seems like @Haz posted some info about Ambient Lighting in another thread.

My last two Fords have had Sync (3 and 4A).  It's buggy as hell sometimes and I've conditioned myself to not let it stress me out.  ?

Is anyone having issues with their Ford Edge 2020 air conditioning each spring? I’ve had the car since brand new and after both winters my air conditioning doesn’t work. Is it true there is a Freon leak or thst it’s something to do with O rings? I’ve heard both, either way there’s an issue to be recalled from my perspective.

Have you been taking it in to the dealer each time?  What have they told you was wrong?

  6. I don't understand this.  The '21 and '22 models are basically identical, aren't they?  Same Sync 4A and I'm not aware of any significant differences except for optional equipment.  Why are only the '21 models reporting this problem?  I just drove mine down the street for a test drive to make sure and it seems to work fine.  Forward camera shuts off at 7 mph and works each time I use it.

This only thing that might be at play is the computer chip shortage.  Perhaps they swapped out chips that weren't as functionally similar as they thought.  ??  This completely sucks.

So I got a new to me 2020 ST and the cooled seats only work on the base and not the back.  Is this normal or should I take it to the dealer to get fixed?  Also I see Adaptive headlights in the menu but its greyed out.

Do your headlamps go back and forth (a self test) when you start the car?  If so, you are fine.  The following was posted in a previous post:

SSM 48993 - 2020 Edge - Adaptive Headlamps - Selection Greyed Out In Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
Some 2020 Edge vehicles equipped with adaptive headlamps may exhibit an IPC selection of adaptive headlamp that appears greyed out or is not able to be selected. This selection does not affect the operation of the adaptive headlamps. This is characteristic of the vehicle and no repairs should be attempted.

New Diehard battery installed...  some things changed.

    Lost these alerts:

    Front Camera Malfunction Service Required

    911 Assist Not Operational

    Park Brake Malfunction Service now

    Check Park Aid

    Gained these alerts:

    Hill Park Assist Not Available

    These alerts remained:

    Pre-Collision not Available

    Steering Assist Fault Service Required

    Service Advance Trac

I can navigate with the Display Buttons now - before they were locked up.

Sounds like you're on the right track.  Was the BMS reset?

Same problem here, I posted in an Edge ST group on Facebook and we have a bunch of people with the same issue.

Attempting to deal with Ford via social media was useless and I have to ring customer service.. my primary concern is the slippery slope of over the air updates that will also screw up down the road and lack of support. Imho they should at least have older versions available to download or recover prior updates in case something screws up.

I also noticed that Trailer Sway keeps enabling every time the vehicle is started, this also on my 2021 ST…. Iirc my 2019 ST didn’t ever have this issue so I am guessing that an update did this somewhere along the way.

Good luck and I’m looking forward to news,  I’m not sure if that’s welcomed here but I can also share the Facebook thread if that helps you with Ford on your end…

I have learned that interacting with Ford via Social Media or the FordPass app is useless.  If you need help locating the Start button, they might be able to help you.  They are NOT technical staff at all.  If you have a PROBLEM, always go to a dealership.  That has been a frustrating lesson.

I agree that there needs to be more control over updates and a rollback procedure.  Cars are more like computers and Ford is taking the Apple approach.
