  1. For those who have the factory Towing Package, does anyone know where the wiring harness is located on the Vehicle (Pictures)? Is there one? or does one have to start "splicing" wires?

If there is a wiring harness, is it a standard harness OR does it require some extra hardware to render it universal?

I have a 2008 Edge with the factory tow package. There is a female plug for a four wire flat plug in for trailer lights located to the left of the hitch receiver. It is behind the plastic bumper cover and is higher than the receiver and faces down towards the ground. It has a cover that you can pop off to insert the male four wire trailer light plug. I have not towed my utility trailer yet as the manual says to wait until you have 1000 miles to tow anything. I am between 800 and 900 miles at this point.

  2. The next upgrade will be for SYNC to take photos of what is going on in the car and then use your paired cell phone to e-mail them to everyone on your contacts list. We may all think that all there is in the rear view mirror is a microphone. There could be a tiny camera too. Big Brother Blue Oval is watching you so keep it clean! Your friendly trial attorney or insurance company will also be able to download the readings from the black box after a crash to use for/against you in the litigation that will ensue as a result of the crash.

  3. Dropping off my Edge tonight so they can look at my parking assist sensors. Even though the sensors are completely clear I am getting a "Check Parking Assist" warning on my display. I can press reset and it goes away until I place it in reverse again.

Anyone else experience this?? I will update this when they give me an answer.

Other than that, still loving my Edge....I have had it since March 2007 and have about 16,000 miles on it.

Try turning the park assist off on the DIC then back on to see if that will re-set it. Have no idea if that will work but is worth a try.

  4. I am leaning towards buying the White Sand Tri-Coat with black leather. Creme Brulee would be #2

I like the camel leather, but at the dealer we got in and it seemed to show every little scuff. black is just more practical in the end run for me as I sleep in my cars, camp, put bikes and junk in them, beach sand everyday, etc. black just helps hide the active lifestyle scars.

Either color will look great. One item to consider is the fact that the white sand will be much more expensive to repair and very difficult to match should you need any future paint work. The creme brulee looks like plain basic paint without all the extra stuff in it that the white sand has. I had a friend with the white diamond Escalade that had to have some paint work done. It cost a fortune and they never could get it matched right when looking at it in the sunlight. The new deep and color changing paints look really nice but are nasty to match. Get some weathertech floor liners and a cargo mat to catch all that sand!

  5. My dealer once did a wheel swap for me. My wife wanted a Chrysler Town & Country van in gold as well equipped as possible. The limited model did not come in gold, so we loaded up an LX with as much as we could. But, the LX came with silver wheels instead of gold on the Limited and my wife liked the gold wheels. At the same time, the dealer had another buyer that wanted a red limited but did not like the gold limited wheels. Both vans came in on the same truck and the dealer swapped the wheels/tires in about 20 minutes and then had two very happy customers. I got matching gold wheels that we never saw on another LX and the other customer got a red limited with the silver wheels they wanted. I would bet the dealer would be happy to exchange the chrome clad wheels from your limited Edge with the 18" SEL wheels you want. I would not count on a credit as there really is not that much price difference between the 18" chrome clad wheel and the 18" regular wheel. Good luck and fight to get what you really want!!!

  6. yeah, I always custom build my bikes.. so why not a car. never really occurred to me to try to do so until now. I assumed it was some Jedi mind trick they have me and everyone thinking it must be on the lot or transferred in or no dice.

As for the main question, my salesman SWEARS/PROMISIES/KNOWS (so he says) that you can in fact get a SEL with the Premium and Seating Flexibility packages together. He is so sure, he promises it - but will confirm with me tomorrow :) If so, it would contradict the Ford website, what I was told here, and the manual from the dealer we looked at. He swears dozens of SEL Edges have gone out with the Premium and Seating Flexibility packages. I am leery to be sure and think he is wrong. Hope he is correct, but doubt it as 3 avenues of research say no and only he says yes.

When we ordered our 2008 Limited I found that the Limited was actually less than the SEL that had less equipment. Check your numbers closely.

  7. Lex,

Thanks for the link. It is nice to see the colors side by side. I like the interior view especially. I have not decided which color and interior I am going to go with and seeing them side by side is nice. I did notice that they make some strange choices of what changes from color to color.

    - The black interior is pretty straight forward anything that can be black is.

    - The camel interior uses a black steering wheel, black shifter and black moldings around the doors. Although it has camel colored inserts in the doors.

    - The medium light stone has stone steering wheel, stone shifter and stone moldings around the doors. As well as the stone door inserts.

    - It also appears that the camel and stone have the same carpet? I am not sure if this is the case, but it does not appear to change and looks more camel than stone.

You would think that the camel would have camel steering wheel, shifter and moldings like the stone does. I guess I still need to really see them in person to make a final judegement.

    Clayton

They changed the camel interior for 2008. 2007 was all camel. There were significant glare issues with the dash, so they changed to the camel seats and door inserts with black dash, etc. I did not think I would like the 2008 but once we got it, we liked it very much. No glare issues at all. Good luck!

  8. It is black. Everybody has an opinion on what they like. I for one don't appreciate a black dash with tan interior. But, as usual, Ford Motor Company believes they know what I like and don't. We didn't purchase the Edge and purchased the Escape with a TAN interior/NOT BLACK.

I wasn't sure about the black dash with camel interior until we got it. There is no dash glare on the windshield as there was on the 2007 with the camel dash. The black dash accent carries over to the doors and rear quarter panels/tailgate areas as well. The 2007's had sort of a gray accent on the doors, dash, and console that does not. IMO, look as good as the black does. The black weathertech mats and cargo liner match perfectly whereas the tan mats and liner did not match the camel interior.

However, reasonable minds can and will differ, and I respect other's opinions that may differ with mine.

  9. After watching that moving video, I will never call the Patriots cheaters again! I just feel SO BAD about it. Poor Bill. Now I have nothing left but to throw myself under a truck since I am a KC Chiefs fan!!!!

  10. Hi,

Does anyone have pics of their 2008 vapor grey with 20" wheels that they can post?

This would be greatly appreciated since none of the dealers near me have any in stock. I have no problems finding pics with the 18" wheels.

    Thanks!

Have you seen the 2008 Edge brochure? There is a nice pic in it of that color/wheel combo. Go to the online brochure at the Ford web site.

  11. My wife's 2008 Edge Limited came in last week. She loves it and I like it too. She got Creme Brulee with camel leather and did not want the BAMR because she did not like a black glass roof on a creme colored car. I wanted the roof but since it was not my car, she won. She came out of a GMC Envoy that she loved, but the Edge is a big hit so far with her. She only has 200 miles on it and is still figuring out all the systems and how to operate them. She gets looks and positive comments where ever she goes with the Edge.

  12. HELP

Would like some opinions on this offer from my local dealer.

We priced a 2008 FWD limited in White Sand, with 18" wheels, BAMR, Cargo mngt, and Sirius radio. (NO NAV or Power liftgate)

MSRP is $33570.00 XPLan is $31813.49. Were getting $1750 in rebates. Were getting offered a lease of 12.5K per year for three years for aprox $415/month. With a decent trade in on my 2005 Escape XLT with 33K miles I can reduce that amount to close to $290.

In any case, Im wondering if it makes sense to enter into a three year lease with the intention of buying out the lease in three years. The cost at that point would be $16785.00

Right now FORD is only offering me 5.9% financing currently and my local credit union is coming in at 4.9% so the lease to buy seems worth it to me, AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE???? :reading:

You will pay $595 for the acquisition fee up front and then there is usually a $250 purchase fee at the end if you buy the Edge. Weigh that against the interest rate savings for the first 3 years if your lease interest rate is less than the 4.9%. My lease interest rate was 2%. We don't plan on buying at the end of the lease. If your long range plan is to buy it any way, I would probably go ahead and buy it now. I asume that you get the same rebates for a purchase as a lease? It all boils down to doing the math. Rarely is a lease then purchase cheaper than a sale up front, but there are exceptions.

    Good luck.

  13. Does anyone know whether Ford plans to provide a Sync retrofit for the 2007 Edge? I have a 2007 SEL AWD Edge and would be interested in having it retrofited with Sync. :banghead:

Too expensive, too many interrelated components, have to add too many things to make it work. Ain't gonna happen IMO. Sorry.

  14. Not everyone is in tune with how things work. I had a good buddy in high school who bought his first car (used) for college. About a semester and a half later, he was driving to school when the engine locked up on him. It seems as if he had run the car out of oil. He did not realize that his car had oil or that he should check it. He had never opened the hood of his car. All he ever did was put gas in it because that is all he thought had to be done. He got mad at me when I was incredulous towards him when he told me what had happened. Yes, this is a true story. No one should ever look at a question someone here asks as being unbelievable or a set up, unless it comes from one or two posters who shall remain nameless.
