  1. see this thread http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/1112-ptu-transfer-case/
  2. another smoker here..09 SEL with 9K miles. Stopped at a light and car filled with smoke through the heat vents...dealer says PTU seal but its on national backorder and he had 6 others waiting for the same part...That was 9 days ago, they still have not gotten the part.
  3. they actually replaced the cam phasers. i have put 600 miles on and the issue has not returned so far, hoping that was the fix.
  4. might want to check the sync forum http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showforum=34
  5. lol please dont take it off because its "ugly" its under the hood!! no one is going to see it, i assure you ford engineers put it there for a reason.
  6. Just bumping this because my 09 SEL is about to have new Cam Phasers installed for the exact same issue as the OP. This is the 4th time its in the shop, the last 2 times they replaced the VCT solenoids. I actually initiated lemon law procedures so a factory engineer is coming out today as well.
  7. those are the same rims i have on my 09 SEL, they are 18" too
  8. Update: I have now brought my car to Ford for a 4th time for the same issue. Driving home for lunch today, pulling up to my house, engine started to surge and check engine light came on. I immediately brought it to the dealer and they have an appointment setup for Friday to look at it again. I have also been in contact with Ford customer care, and their legal department has called me back, they are sending a field tech out on Friday when I bring the car in.
  9. exact opposite here, have an 09 SEL and it probably has about half the output as my 06 Explorer did.
  10. i agree its a problem that most likely has a solution but they are the only service center near me thats why i go there. They have it now so we'll see what happens. Whether or not its a "lemon" I still should not have to go through this on a new vehicle. Im a patient person and I'm not looking for any compensation or anything like that I just want it fixed ya know? The letter to Ford is just to cover myself and to have it documented with them. Another problem is that the light comes on on Saturday, and there are no svc centers open on the weekend anywhere near me, and by the time Monday comes the light is off already, but they should be able to see the code history in the computer.
  11. My service guys are great Ive been dealing with them for a long time, I plan on visiting the manager this morning, but Im still sending the letter to cover my butt. My state is NJ and the law says EITHER an issue that is not resolved after 3 repair attempts OR the car is out of service for 20 days or more within the first 2 yrs/18K miles as is in my first post. Im just really disappointed because this is my fourth ford vehicle since 1999 and i have never had issues like this. ive always had Explorers but i absolutely love the Edge.
  12. yup i have read it, and it states the same thing, that a letter must be written to Ford stating the issues so they may try and repair it a final time before pursuing legal action. Thats the letter I will be sending tomorrow.
  13. I have started the "lemon Law" process on my 09 SEL with 4800 miles. It has been at the dealership for service twice in the past month because the engine will surge when coming to a stop ,sometimes nearly stalling, and the Check Engine light comes on. both times, they replaced a VCT solenoid as per a TSB. It is fine for a week, and then happens again. Now its just happened for the third time yesterday. According to NJ Div on consumer affairs, Im supposed to write a letter to Ford giving them one more chance to repair before they either replace or refund. I really just want it fixed because its getting really annoying. has anyone here dealt with Ford under these circumstances before?
  14. well the problem came back this weekend, brought it in this morning. now they are ordering a VTC solenoid. i believe that has something to do with valve timing?
  15. yup but even the OEM harness instructs you to cut a slit in the grommet and fish the wire through. see attachment, step 18. thats the install instructions from Ford. its not the grommet around the steering column, its to the left of that where a bunch of wires come through. you dont need to go under the car, just under the steering wheel. sk_7t4j_15a416_aa__all_1.pdf
