    Oil Prices

It ain't all about econ. When oil dropped to 50 bucks a barrel, I sure as hell didn't see gas at $1.49 per gallon. I barely ever saw $1.80. Something about huge emperor palaces, man made islands in the shapes of continents, audi's made of silver, and death to America comes to mind.................
  3. Welcome fellow MKX'er. Definitely get the wood match kit. Worth every penny for looks. Wife loves the matching darker dash kit that we had installed. I would save the exhaust and CAI. I was gung ho to do it myself (see signature). Sleep on it and you'll change your mind. I'd pimp the interior first.
  4. Yeah, ours is number 3, but I want it to be number 1. How did you reverse it??
  5. BTW, what is the best way to clean "seat belt funk"?
  6. Dash mats also come particularly in handy if you are living in an area that approaches 4,649,047 degrees in summer. I have an old college roomate who lives in Tucson, and cracked a few dashes in summertime despite keeping the dash well protected with ArmorAll.
  7. Same thing on my 06 Fusion. "Blotting" with 1/2" masking tape will do the job, but not completely. Still, it's better than nothing.
  8. Yeah, I know what he's talking about. Something like this, right? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-2009-L...VehicleQ5fParts Before you do that, let me tell you a story about a similar product that Steeda makes for the Fusion. I bought the chrome Steeda sill plates for the Fusion and although they look really nice, they are not functional at all. By that I mean that if you live in an area that gets a lot of rain, the rain will pool around the sill since the area around the sill is raised, and when you open the door you will get a (sometimes very significant) splash of water rushing out of the door. So, although they look good, and probably would protect the paint, they decrease the space between the door and frame and make proper draining an issue. That's why I'd just go with something very light like a heavy vinyl decal. All of that said, obviously the Edge/MKX and Fusion are designed differently, and these sills look different than the ones I have, so they might be more functional and less invasive than I've got on my car.
  9. Hey all, My wife the other night came to me and said that she was having some issues with the driver side seatbelt getting tangled when she put it on. Thinking that this was a really quick, easy fix I went out into the garage, hopped into the seat, and fumbled for a second or two....I instantly saw what she meant. On every other seatbelt (except the driver side), the latch is facing into the car (ala into the seat when not used and retracted). The driver side seatbelt is facing OUTWARD when the seatbelt is not in use. Was this an oops from the factory or is it supposed to be like that, and how in the hell do I turn the latch around without destructing the clasp?
  10. :o wow. We keep lens cloth in our...I mean, my WIFE'S, MKX. I keep telling her that if she gets it dirty as hell with her fingerprints it probably won't look as bad as if she cleans it everyday (and she does, trust me).
  11. FWIW we test drove the MKX with 20's and with 18's (different dealerships). I really couldn't notice any appreciable difference, although the 18's rode a little better than the 20's. Of course, this is kind of to be expected. Wife said she noticed a huge difference, so that might be your answer right there as to what you need to get We ended up with 18's.
  12. nice! I guess that's good to know. Our last vehicle before this MKX was an Explorer. We had issues with the window motors and controls from day one until the day we traded it in. I can just see myself freaking out and getting pissed about nothing if I accidentally engaged the lock and saw those lights go out
  13. Reese sells all the accessories that you could ever want for either a 1.25 or a 2" receiver. IMO if you need to tow something with a weight distributing hitch, you need an Expedition or F150. I don't think I've ever towed something 3,000 lb or less and thought about a WDH. But, then again I live in some pretty flat country. If I was in rocky or hilly country, I'd probably use a WDH to pull jet skis. I get your drift, but I was just curious why you wanted to put 22's on the 87 Buick.
  14. My Fusion is the same way on its auto controls. I use 60 to get the ac going full blast in the summer (and make sure I set it back to 60 so that I can remote start and have the system running full blast), but I guarantee you that I don't leave it. In the summertime, I can't tell a difference between 65 and 60 - - I don't think my car could even cool to 65, much less 60.
  15. Unless you're hauling something that this thing was never designed to haul, you don't need to drill an extra hole per side, and you don't need a class 3 hitch. Max towing capacity of this vehicle is only 3,500 lb, so the Edge should be mated to a class 2 and not a class 3 unless you're planning on exceeding the 250lb tongue weight max (which again is not recommended). I think a third hole (and a 2" hitch) is over the top, but of course, this is IMO.
