I do know that the system is not updated daily. Your Ranger was built on 02/06/2007, so it could be on hold. However, the Ranger is a vehicle that isn't new and hasn't changed all that much recently, so I doubt it's a quality concern. But you never know, it's Ford, so anything can happen!!! My guess is that the system hasn't updated yet with the Gate Release date, and that it will ship soon if it hasn't already.

Any update on the status of my order ?

As far as the window sticker goes, I'm not positively sure, but I thought I heard you can't get the window sticker anymore. But you dealer should be able to get the invoice for you, at least for your first ranger that has already been built.

As far shipping goes, sometimes the system is a little slow updating, so it could have shipped already.

Hey everyone...been awhile since I have been on here asking questions, just been reading...

I am still planning on buying an edge in a few months, but have another question to those of you that have bought one, or driven one...

Okay..how high up do you sit? What I men is, I know it is shorter than regular SUV's, and I cannot stand "sitting" on the ground when I drive. When I am sitting up higher it seems I can see so much better!

So, how high up do you sit? Does it seem high enough? Perfect hight? IS your view good?

The dealer salesman told me he now has a VIN:

Can someone find this on the Ford system and give the status of the order?

The system doesn't recognize the VIN# you supplied. Either your dealer hasn't submitted it yet, or it is a bad VIN#

I'm considering buying either an edge or an mkx. There are things about both that I don't like.

 

Edge Likes

1. Price

2. Rear styling

 

Edge Dislikes:

1. Front styling (specifically grille)

2. No black cloth seating

3. Interior styling

 

MKX Likes:

1. Front Styling

2. Interior Styling

 

MKX Dislikes:

1. Rear Styling

2. Price

 

I am actually considering buying an edge and swapping the front end (bumper, grille, fenders, headlights) for MKX versions. But if someone made a nice aftermarket grille then I could probably live with that. Another must to improve the appearance is color-matched lower valences all around.

 

As for the interior, I hate the steering wheel, instrument panel, and manual climate controls on the edge. I would definitely swap in at least a MKX steering wheel.

 

If I didn't hate the rear styling on the MKX, I might just buy it. When you add the luxury package to the edge you're already up to 30k and the base model MKX has all those things plus more for 35 so it isn't such a huge difference. But then it wouldn't be any fun.

 

Just felt like ranting.

It sounds to me that the only thing you do like about the Edge is the rear styling, and how often when you are driving a car do you see its rear end? Since you obviously aren't too fond of the Edge, pony up the cash and get an MKX. The aftermarket modifications you are speaking of seem like you would end up coming pretty close to breaking even. As far as an aftermarket grille for the Edge, I'm sure it won't be long before a few options are available and on the market. In my opinion, the rear end of the MKX is especially bad ass at night and really stands out.

Because you're gate release date is a few weeks ago, your Edge might be in your dealers holding lot. Unless it is taking a while to ship all of the completed retrofits.

As well I ordered an MKX on Jan 2 07..the dealer says he has no info yet, no VIN. What interests me is I've seen MKX's ordered after mine that are serialized and have VIN's. Any idea why this happens.

I do not work in Oakville or in a body and assembly plant for that matter, so I don't know how the serialization process is run. As far as the VIN# goes, I know it is not the number vehicle produced. Check out the other VIN# topic and it will answer that for you.

What does the MKX offer that the Edge doesen't ? Big difference in $$

My dad got an MKX a few weeks after I got my Edge. Styling is obviously the first thing you notice. The interior is also quite different. The MKX is quite plush and a little more refined with things like wood accents and a more seamless front control console. The gauges are a little blander though in my opinion. The Edge's interior is a little more sporty and modern. As far as features, the MKX has some nice options like heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats and power lift gate, which is really cool. In my opinion, the Edge offers quite a bit for the money, and what the MKX offers doesn't justify the extra money. But that's just me!!!

You said that you placed the order on 12-23, As you can see, Oakville didn't receive your order until January 9th. So either your dealership really didn't place it until 01-09, or the system was backed up. I would bet on your dealership not submitting it when you wanted. You might want to check with them on it, not that they can fix it. Just to let them know you know.
