  1. I just took my 2007 Edge in to the Dealer for same issue. Mine was opening fine but very sluggish when closing, and it even froze up on me this past summer. Luckily I have 21 days left on my warranty and I'm under miles because they told me it was a $5000.00 job to fix. I was told an outside glass company had to come in with special tools and remove roof, then the whole upper interior of the car had to be removed to to properly fix the issue. Supposedly about a 2 day job. He also said there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) out on the issue. If I am not mistaken, a TSB will be covered by Ford even if the vehicle is past it's warranty period. Not sure on that so don't quote me.

  7. Yeah that's my wife and I in the pic, and I'm not putting any blame on Ford's sales force or their plant workers (hourly or salary). Upper management got complacent, cut corners and basically neglected to keep itself in tune with the customer and future market trends. But what's done is done!!! I love this company and have faith in it's turnaround. Our most recent products in the last few years support my feelings. The Japanese companies will have their problems, Toyota is already starting a downward spiral in quality and other problems. Public perception is the key, and hopefully this new marketing campaign I'm hearing about will address that need. Have faith in us too!!! Us Ford workers are depending on you!!!!!
  8. No I'm not using Conceps. I use an internal Ford site that seems to only be in the plants. You can try on you computer at your dealership if you want, www.my.ford.com. Hopefully it works, but the site has a lot of plant specifics, different manufacturing factors and details and so on, but it's worth a try!!

  12. I am still employeed by Ford. GEN stands for Guaranteed Employment Number. It is a UAW negotiated benefit that prevents a laid off person from going to the street. To sum it up, there are more workers than jobs, so we are put into a pool based on hire in date and are susequently used for non traditional work, and sometimes, but rarely put back on the floor to fill in when needed. I am definitely glad we have GEN, but the stability of working in my trade (Machine Repair), staying fresh and sharp working on the line is much more preferrable. Our site (Cleveland) has around 800 skilled trades, and only 170 GEN spots for skilled trades. I happen to have enough seniority to hold GEN and not go to the street, which is a great thing. However, around 80 other skilled trades workers here don't have enough seniority and are on the street, which isn't a good place to be since contract negotiations are in September.
  13. I checked about an hour ago and it was still the same. I'll check again in the next two days for an update before I get laid off. If it's updated, I'll post it or PM you!
  14. Well folks, I have to tell you all it has been a pleasure helping everyone with their VIN#'s the last few months!! I know how frustrating it is to deal with dealerships most of the time, I know I had a hard time with mine. Unfortunately I just learned that I will be getting laid off into "GEN" (labor pool overflow program) on Monday. I most likely will no longer have access to the VIN# tracking system, so I can only help out another 2 days. Hopefully there are some other peopleon this board who can help you guys and gals out!!! I will still be posting here from home!!! Good luck and enjoy those Edges and MKX's!!!!

  23. Wednesday, February 28th is the last day for all salaried Ford workers who chose to accept a separation package, or those who were told to take a separation package. It is part of Ford's reduction in white-collar workers. Those who didn't take a package, and was offered or told to take one, will probably be "Let Go" within a few weeks. I believe the total number they want is around 14,000 people. Hourly workers who took packages also are leaving Wednesday too. Except hourly workers are split up throughout the year until September (contract), in order to maintain "operational effectiveness". Around 38,000 UAW workers signed up to leave, but are not obligated to leave even if they signed up. I believe Ford is counting on an 80% take rate, which I think is a little steep unfortunately. This really is an unfortunate time for many people because they are being forced to make a life-changing decision based off of rumor and speculation. Info is scarce, pressure is high, and morale is awful. Good luck to those who leave!!! I, myself, have chosen to ride this wave, with my 8 years of seniority, all the way in until it crashes. Hopefully in about 22 years
  24. msemple, Here's what it says so far!! Receipt Date: 12/26/2006 Serialize Date: 2/12/2007 Segment Date: 2/12/2007 Sequence Date: 2/16/2007 Blend Date: 2/20/2007 Produced Date: Gate Release Date: Ship Date: Arrival Date: Sold Date:
  25. They might not be wrong. From another VIN I tracked, I know the system was updated yesterday. It doesn't get updated on a daily basis. They might have just started building it today!!! It seems to me that the way Oakville seems to be cranking these things out, you'll have yours soon. I know it's easier said than done but, be patient!! It will be well worth the wait :yup: !!!!
