I just finished replacing the upstream 02 sensor on my 2018 edge 2.0 turbo ecoboost and wow what a nightmare. My suggestion as i had the same problem not being able to break it loose from the top side. Take the driver tire off and go in from the bottom left side. It almost has to be done one handed and very uncomfortably but definitely couldnt complete it from the top so hope this helps someone
