  1. Yep, this specific tab (red arrow) that the rubber band wraps around, broke free slightly to allow the rubber band to come off. Now I know why the cupholder retainers weren’t working and we’re rattling in the car. A little JB Weld should repair it so I can wrap the rubber band back around it.
  2. I figured it out. See the photos below for the proper routing. I had one of the small broken tabs that needed to be JB welded back on. That’s why the “rubber band” came loose. Fixing it now. On the first photo below the cup holder on the Right-side in the photo is a mirror image of the loop on the left. I was repairing my tab so I didn’t show it.
  3. So I took my cupholder apart on my wife’s 2018 Ford Edge because the beverage retention tabs weren’t working and loose. I found out that the clear colored rubber band had come loose that pushes IN all the retainers to hold beverages in the cupholders. Does anybody have pictures or a diagram of how this clear rubber band is supposed to be routed around the cup holder retention tabs??? It looks like it goes around every tab twice at the top and bottom
  4. After all the horror stories and lack of positive stories on this Recall, I’m definitely not having this done on our Edge. The whole thing is really weird.
  5. Nope, FORD will remain completely silent on this. I’m not letting them touch our vehicle for this reason. It also gives them an out for destroying catalytic converters.
  6. I’m not having it done until Ford can explain all the after recall issues.
  7. Those that had it done report lower MPGs, throwing multiple codes. That’s enough for me to say not to do the recall. The Cat failures are happening regardless of recall.
  8. Wow, Very Interesting FORD has pulled this recall. Curious to see what they do next.
  9. What Model and engine is in your 2018 Edge?
  10. There is another post on this Forum regarding this same exact recall here: Bottom line is that this Recall seems to be creating multiple other adverse issues. 👎
  11. How many miles on your vehicle? How many codes has it ever thrown before? Dang, no reason this warranty fix should be causing MPGs to drop significantly or codes to be suddenly popping up. If anything, MPGs should be improving if the goal is to be lowering emissions!!!!
  12. Agreed. The one thing about these V6 3.5 engines i notice is the CATs are built into the exhaust manifolds which means they are super close to the start of the exhaust coming out of the engine. Not certain but my engineering background means any unburied fuel from a rich condition and carbon is hitting and dumping directly into the CATs. Most exhaust systems I’ve seen in other vehicles the CATs are more downstream of the engine. So maybe this means these CATs and both upstream and downstream Oxygen sensors are more sensitive to slight out of range or rich air/fuel trim mixtures. This layout and setup may mean that it’s more challenging and important for the engine computer to be configured correctly to deal with varying conditions. All this means is that if the system is out of wack slightly on the mappings then the emissions and gases being sent to the CATs will tax it and start coating the precious metals inside the CATs and carbon buildup will occur inside the CATs. Both bad for the CATs.
  13. Yep! The Cats will definitely be affected. “No actual cats were harmed in the production of this post”
  14. Doubt this recall would affect that Mass Air Flow Sensor code, but who knows. A P0420 or a P0430 Catalyst Efficiency code for a bad Catalytic Converter i think would be a likely result of this lack of proper programming since it affects tailpipe emissions.
