Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start off by saying that I've read several post on this topic and I have yet to find a solution to the "Exhaust smell" in my 2010 Edge cabin when the vehicle comes to stop (red light, stop sign, slow traffic, etc.).
I have been reporting this problem to the Ford dealership since we owned the vehicle (5+ years now) and after having 3 PTU's replaced the smell continues to persist to the point that windows need to be lowered in order to recirculate the air in the cabin. My kids (6 and 8) constantly complain how bad the smell is and I'm now thinking how this could be affecting our heath.
The dealership is constantly verifying the vehicle for leaks and they can't find anything abnormal... Besides the awful and annoying smell the vehicle operates very well.
What causes the smell to occur:
- Vehicle needs to be driven for 10 + minutes to warm up or left running for 10 minutes once started.
- Heater needs to be turned on
- Smell only occurs once the vehicle is at a full stop or when traffic is moving slowly.
- Smell is more persistent when the weather is cold.
- Smell is also present from the exterior of the vehicle and seems to be originating from the rear drivers side and somehow finds it's way to the inside of the cabin.
Been dealing with this for a very long time and if anyone has a direction or a possible solution, excluding replacing the vehicle, it would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Lance
