  1. As shown by evidence in the forum the PTU problem still existed up until the 09 model.

Hopefully they have got it figured out now with the 2010.

I haven't heard of 09 Edge with PTU problem, there might be a exceptions of course but to my knowledge and Internet search the problem has been solved on 09s and 10s

  2. If it becomes a problem for my vehicle those are options too?

When I am paying a $1,000/month for a vehicle I get pissed when it doesn't work right.

And I will not appologize to you, Ford or anyone else.

I expect better. It is your choice if you accept crappy service.

    Gary

Any problem with the PTU Gary??

  3. a couple of things to think about, check the insurance rates on all 3. I don't know the rates of the MDX or RX330 but I found the Edge had a good rate (I went from a 07 MKZ to a 09 Edge Sport and my rates went down by a few dollars instead of being higher for the newer vehicle) . You will most likely spend more money on repairs on the MDX or RX330 as parts are not cheap on those vehicles and there service departments may have higher labor rates than a Ford Dealer (if you use dealers for repairs)

I would not worry about the PTU, problem has been solved and if you get 08, 09 it will come with good warranty as well.

  4. I think you just like to hear yourself complain. What's next? www.badrightrearwheelbearingedge.com? www.trannyhesitatesshiftingfrom2ndto3rdedge.com?

lol, Ford is bypassed Toyota in in quality and is becoming one of the most reliable automaker in the world, people who thinks Ford is unreliable should google Mrcedes, BMW or GM transmision problems and see what some people say......

  5. Well, I was waiting to pass judgement. We just got our first cold spell in MT and tonight I noticed the burning rubber smell. Checked the garage floor and sure enough - there's the fluid - again. I'll be calling the dealer to get it in for the 4th attempt at repair. It lasted from March until now, but as I figured it would happen as soon as it got cold outside. I'm going to see what they want to do to rectifiy the situation as I have no hope at all that they will be able to have a permanent repair for my 08.

Go to different dealer. This problem has been dealt with long time ago....

  6. We have a 2010 Limited with the upgraded sound system. I personally think it is a subpar system. I am not an audiophile who demands a million dollar sound system, but I like to have a quality sound system. I've listened to a CD, Sirius, FM, and some MP3's. They all have the same hollow sound, almost a bit muffled too.

The NAV system has been great for us so far. Very, very accurate and easy to follow.

    -Mike

No problem with my sound system, I do not know what you talking about ......

  7. I've been towing my Polaris RZR-S approx. 1100lbs on a Loadrite trailer which is approx. 800lbs. even with me, my wife and dog and baby were well under the 3500lb tow limit, so why does the Edge hunt for an adequate gear when driving on flat highways at 65-75mph? It constantly jumps from under 2000RPM to 2500 and above...

Is there some component of the towing package that Im missing (tow program for the trans? special gearing?) Is this normal? Should I be towing with the OD off? Any suggestions would be appreciated. If it matters, my highway towing mileage is around 16-18 MPG

The computer is looking for optimum ratio of speed, power and gas mileage.. it will happen all modern computer controled cars.....

  8. I do not have them, the only feature I did not buy as I knew I could always do them after market, but search here on that topic and you will see people that comment on both the Ford ones and after-market and no doubt, it seems you get way more bang for the buck with the after-market. only issue seems to be getting that perfect match (color and thread stitch) to your interior. There are a number of great threads here on installs and comments about some of the after market models. yeah, say good bye to dash mount DVD system :)

We have the DVDs in the head rests from the dealer and our kids love them. They do not fight any more and they can both watch different DVDs or the same. The sound comes out only through the head set. The navigation radio is able to play DVDs as well, but only when the car is not moving. The sound comes out from the car speakers from that one. The DVD players have build-in memory so after you shot down the car the DVD will start from the exact spot. Also the head set shut down automatically after the DVDs stops. It feel and look very well built.

    Good luck

  9. Hello,

We have two boys(4 & 7) and they have no space concerns in the back seat. I am 6'2 and have the seat completely back and my 7yr old who is very tall for his age does not even come close to hitting the back seats. More than enough room. We have even had three car seats back there will no problems. We do have the rear seat entertainment package which i highly recommend!! Good luck and you will be not regret it if you buy a EDGE, best choice we ever made.

    Thanks

    Jeremy

PTU is strictly 07, 08 problem. Are there any 09 or 10 owners with PTU seals problem, please come forward if there are any...??

  10. In case some of you do not follow the SMR website, there is an update for those of us with 2007-2009 models. I notice it has not been mentioned here yet so...

    9L2T-14D544-BE Version SYNC V2.1

This new software release, based on customer feedback, will improve Ford's 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Report features. Now you can disable the '911 Assist is set to Off' speech reminder. If you choose to turn it off, a line of text reminding you that 911 Assist is disabled will continue to be shown on the radio display. In addition to the 911 Assist enhancement, the Auto Vehicle Health Report feature will now have a default setting of 'OFF'. Simply switch to 'ON' if you wish this report to be automatically generated.

Also contained in this release are improvements to USB and Bluetooth features and phone and media device support.

neither of the 911 or Health Report feature changes matter to me, but I have not been able to determine just what "improvements to USB and Bluetooth features and phone and media device support" this amounted to. But I actually read more issues than benefits post 2.1.

I'm registered owner with SMR but I'm not able to download V2.1 update. We have 09 Ford Edge LTD AWD with navigation and last update I did was 1.3. Any help out there?

  11. Has anyone else had an issue with a rear seat rattle? It seems to move from one side to the other with each bump in the road. It is driving me nuts! I luv the Edge and hate for this seemingly small thing to ruin the love affair!

    Simply go see the dealer

  12. The batteries have a 8 year/100k warranty minimum and sometimes 10 yr/150k depending on the state. And NYC taxi cab Hybrid Escapes have gone 350K without changing the batteries.

I notice with our 09 Limited AWD, it's very easy to speed and accelerate, the engine is very well tuned and has lot of power. On our trip from up north in the summer I drove very easy on the pedal around 90 to 100KM/h, just to see what's the best mileage possible. The computer calculated consumption was 8.4 l/100km. We had 20,000km on the car and I think that's why. I think it takes long time to brake-in the engine.

  13. I'm sure you can find similar threads on Jeep problems if you look hard enough. But I'm sure that wouldn't stop you from buying another one.

Agree, pick any car maker and search "transmission problem", we have 09 limited AWD with 22,000km and no leak.

  14. I don't see how it's crazy when corrosion on the inside of the wheel from the chrome could cause a poor seal and lead to loss in air pressure and flat tires.

Also if you live where there is snow there will be a greater chance that the salt used on the roads will cause premature pitting and corrosion on a chrome wheel.

I guess facts are crazy. :banghead:

Agree, chrome clad... much better....just wander how they withstand the snow and salt here in Ontario....

  15. Ford released a 27mo lease program on Edge. $3500 rebate and a lease factor of .5! I am picking one up today $1500 down, 15k miles, $463 including tax on a 32k SEL. Buying on Xplan.

Leasing is waste of money...after the term you have nothing and you have to spent more to keep going or get something new again. Bad idea.

  16. I took it in to the dealer and they noticed the noise right away. I had a faulty rear trunk speaker that was causing some feedback, which they replaced in the hopes that it would solve the problem. It did seem to help, but didnt eliminate the noise. So they took it back again and think it needs the radio to be replaced. I do not think it is the radio at all, as on most posts everyone has noticed that you can hear the noise outside the vehicle. However, I will let them replace the radio and go from there.

My wife doesn't ever notice the noise unless I bring it up, so it isn't a showstopper, but it would be nice to not have it on those days when I prefer to drive without a radio or such.

Out of ignorance and laziness, where is the fuel pump so that I can get close to it and perhaps point it out to the dealer? I live in Germany and pointing to problems is much easier than trying to describe them in German.

The noise is cool it sounds like a jet taking off.....and in 20 seconds it gose away.
