Just an update..... Well I had to wait 6 weeks but my dealership got the most recent PTU seal and replaced the leaking one. It has been about a month now and no more nasty smell after coming off the highway. Time will tell if the the new seal solves the problem once and for all.

I had the exact same problem. My clicking was coming from the passenger side front wheel. When I brought the car to the dealer they were aware of a service bulletin about the clicking wheels. They had to do some measurements to determine the status of the other wheels. They came back and said they need to replace 3 of the rims which they had to order. A few days later I brought the vehicle back and got the three new 20 inch rims installed. As I was leaving I asked which rim wasn't replaced. They said the passenger front wasn't replaced. I looked at hem a little stunned and said... but that was the rim that was making all the noise. I now have 4 new rims and I hope the problem doesn't come back.

I own a 2008 Edge Limited AWD and I recently started to smell the "Burning Antifreeze" like odour when coming off the highway and waiting at the first stoplight. After reviewing this board it was easy to suspect my PTU seal was leaking. I brought it to my dealer on the weekend and confirmed that the PTU seal was leaking. They said they had the old seal in stock but they wanted order the new seal in order to avoid repeated visits in the future. Once fixed, hopefully this will not be a repeated problem. Time will tell. Other than that the vehicle has been great

Hello, As a member of other forums of cars I currently own... or have owned I figured I would continue the tradition with my new (used) 2008 Ford Edge Limited AWD. :hyper: I love the way the Edge looks... especially the Limited version with the 20 inch rims. I have been searching for a few months now and jumped all over the this one when it popped up. This one is Pearl White and has all the bells and whistles with only 29,000 kms = 18,000 Miles. This vehivcle has all the standard features associated with the Limited version plus Navigation, 20 inch rims, Cargo Management, Tow Package plus more. My favourite is the Panoramic Roof. Had this in the last vehicle I owned and will look for this in any vehicle I buy in the future! I just wanted to introduce myself... and my Edge (a.k.a. Whitey) And of course... some pictures..... I know how these forums work :yup:
