Hi,
I can't thank you enough for helping me work through adapting our LED tail to the 2008-2010 Edge. I knew you would really like the performance of the new LED tail. The look is so different and unique from anything Ford has made and brings the style up to the level of the more upscale car brands.
I am really excited about having the adapter kit manufactured to allow an easy plug & play solution for 08-10 Edge. It will open up a large market for us. thanks again Marty.
I understand it like there is something possible to adapting it on the first Edge-Series...

Did I understand it right....this lights are working on 08-10 Models, too?
What about the costs including shipment to Germany?

Okay...thank you for your help

Hi,
thank you for the links. Very helpful!
Guess, we are talking about the same...
I attached a picture from the side above and marked the part what i mean.
The control arm itself is still in quite good condition but this rubber thing is looking old and squeezed.
My Edge has been running 65.000 miles (103.000km) now.
Should i really exchange the control arms completely?

Hi folks,
it was a long time ago i was here.
But i have to say that my Ford Edge is still mine (since 2009) and i am very happy about that.
But i have a question:
I am regularly watching after the chassis of my Edge and try to keep it in good condition.
During my last inspection i realized that the part that is mentioned in the title is not in good condition anymore.
i am from Germany and i tried to find this part in search engines...but i didnt find it....maybe you can tell me the correct name of this part i am searching for.
If you dont know what i mean, i will take some pictures of it.
Two further questions i have are...:
1. is it sure that taillights for the 2011-2014 model won't fit at 2007-2010 model...if yes...why?
2. Do 2011-2014 suspensions parts fit at 2007-2010 models?
Thank you in advance

the technical matters of the ford edge are not so really strange for an europe Ford technician.
Edge has Duratec 35 engine. the Duratec engine familiy is known in Europe from Ford Maverick/Escape (Duratec 30) and Ford Mondeo (Duratec 25 and 30)
the transmission is the 6F.
this transmission itself is unknown in europe right...but not so strange and different to its predecessors that a europe mechanic couldnt handle that.
I am not a mechanic but i guess the problem is the transmission, too.

Hi,
on Friday, the 28. May i was on the FORD Regional Tour 2010 in Leverkusen.
This were an official press conference of FORD Germany and presentation of
- Ford RS500 Limited
- Ford S-Max 2.0 EcoBoost with Powershift-Transmission
- Ford Galaxy 2.0 EcoBoost with Powershift-Transmission
At 0900 was the beginning with the welcoming and breakfast buffet.
After that was the first period of test driving till press conference at 1200 and lunch time.
From 1300 till planned end at 1500 was second period of test driving.
So I took the chance to testdrive 4 cars.
First i drove the Ford Focus RS with 300 HP 2.5 TurboEngine...very impressive car.
Second was the limited Edition of the "normal Focus RS"...the RS500.
This edition is some louder, faster and more pure....the same 2.5 engine has a larger turbocharger with 1.7 bar turbo impact instead of 1.4 bar.
So the engine has power of 345 HP and more torque.
RS500 is limited to 500 produces and already sold out. 4 of them were on the regional tour.
RS500 is always mat black because of highquality 3M-foil ex works.
Most other is as like as on RS, but with red 500 on the back under the RS-logo, production number on center console below navigation system and red leather seating.
RS and RS500 are real sports cars with extreme impressive driving qualities. accelaration to 60 clear below 6 seconds and topspeeds around 180mph-area. Especially driving RS500 is feeling amazing.
The next car was the Ford Galaxy EcoBoost and after that the S-Max with same engine and PowerShift...with that we come closer to the main topic.
With the 2.0 Ecoboost the Galaxy and S-Max come to the following extraction of technical data:
Galaxy.........................................................................................S-Max
............................................- engine: 2.0 Turbo - 1.999ccm
............................................- engine power: 200HP - 203PS
............................................- torque: 221lb-ft - 300Nm
- curb weight: 3807lbm - 1727kg.....................................................- curb weight: 3695lbm - 1676kg
- gross weight: 5401lbm - 2450kg....................................................- gross weight: 5302lbm - 2405kg
- topspeed: 136mph - 217kph...........................................................- topspeed: 138mph - 221kph
- acc 0-60: 8.8sec...........................................................................- acc 0-60: 8.5sec
............................................- mileage:
............................................21.6mpg [11.0L/100km] city
............................................37.2mpg [ 6.4L/100km] highway
............................................29.3mpg [ 8.1L/100km] combination
............................................(european standard calculation NEDC)
Impressions
The S-Max is quite more sporty as the Galaxy...the Galaxy more comfortable.
The 200HP engine in combination with the new PowerShift-Transmission (Dual-Clutch-System) makes both vehicles feeling light and agile.
Even the Galaxy, which is looking and feeling roomy with (...not too...) soft suspension is reacting quick and easy after pedal orders.
Engine is also quite silent and smoothy running in all situations and accelaration is possible without disturbing turbocharging gaps.
The dual-clutch-transmission PowerShift is changing gears in quick and smooth matter...so also satisfying. Manual input is completely unnecessesary...all in all quite senseless and tryings in fact disturbing.
Guess cause of weight and room the Galaxy is most comparable with the Edge.
Edge is heavier, but will get something about 30HP more as the Galaxy/S-Max. For Europe more versions of the 2.0 EcoBoost are anounced, too...below and above the 200HP.
2.0 Ecoboost is feeling agile but not real strong. That will be the main difference to the V6 TIVCT and V6 EcoBoost in other models. V6 TIVCT and V6 EcoBosst will not be available in Europe...in any model.
Same is assured for the Edge.
Guess the 2.0 EcoBoost is a quite satisfying engine and in S-Max, for example, even something like very facetious and sporty to move. But for vehicles like the Edge the TVICT-Engines will be the better choice cause of more kicking ass from low engine speeds and more complete souveranity with weights...especially with 3.7 305HP TIVCT.
So i made an comment on press conference against the german Ford Marketing Director Wolfgang Booms that it is in my opinion a quite big mistake not to launch any of the V6 engines (3.5 and 3.7 V6 TIVCT, 3.5 V6 EcoBoost) and further to resign of offering models in premium class (f.e. something similar to Taurus) and crossover classes above Ford Kuga in Europe. Kuga is quite small because of C-segmant-base (Focus) and bigger crossovers like Touareg, M-class, X5 are still sucessful enough in Europe, too. This class and premium would be able to confirm strong image in Europe...especially in Germany.

Yes. will do it this way.
But thanks for reminding anyway.

Hi klc317,
thanks for your recommendations.
I think that all is sounding quite reasonable.
Guess i will hold it with that matters similar.
The calculation with quarts and Liters is because i am from Germany. And engine oil is sold here in 1.0, 5.0 and 20 Liters canisters...but qts are quite similar (1quart = 0,946Liters) So i will buy one 5 Liter and 1 Liter canister, too.
Thanks again for infos.

Hi,
very good topic, because latest in 2000km i am going to change the oil, too.
How i just found in forum...it is very recommendable to go with the manual and to use 5w20...not other versions. I will follow that...
But i have some questions anyway.
Somewhere in tech. data of Eddie i found the engine oil displacement of 5.5 quart. guess that means quart liq. that leads to 5.5 x 0.946 = 5.203 Liters (1,37 gallons).
Is that quantity exactly necessary (or even more) or is a standard 5Liters standard canister enough?
My dealer recommends oil change all 20.000km (12500mi). Do you agree? Think i read here something about 7500mi (12000km).
What would you recommend how often to change the transmission oil?
Thanks in advance

Only fitting 20" and bigger!
And in my opinion not very nice looking.
Is someone to answer my question about the differences between the brakesystems of EDGE with FWD and AWD?
Or if AWD brake discs (320mm) are fitting on FWD (295mm)?
Thanks

Okay...that is the welcome forum...so...
Welcome to this forum! :happy feet:
Wish you much fun with your Edge ...although in your place i had waited a few month. :shades:
Don`t have any answer to your questions though...i`m sorry.

Hi,
thanks!
don`t understand the security function, too.
That would be a trick.
Clearly visible is that the open/close/stop-positions are steered over relais that seem to be internal of the roof-e-engine (the left one). Changing that engine would delete the positions.
But two positions have to stay:...fully open and fully close!
Otherwise the e-engine would stay under permanent load and would be not very healthful for car`s electronical system (heat production, battery,...)

Hi,
several times you can already find that issue in this forum.
Last WE i had this problem by myself.
The days before my roof got slower and slower on the last inches before closing and had already planned to clean the roofrails.
On saturday i suddenly had the same problem as many edge drivers in here.
Drove open to work and wanted to close the vistaroof, but it stucked on the last 8" before closing.
Tested around a bit with measures like fuses out and in...disconnecting battery and so on but nothing was able to help...no changes.
Back at home i decided to study a bit about that problem.
I realized that the roof steering seem to "think" that that 8" before closing is the close position, because all other programmed positions were displaced for 8" in back direction, too.
So i began to start to remove the headliner and found the e-engines of the roof steering directly behind the second glassroof behind the headliners under the roof.
Tested further around a bit and found the solution. While testing i had the idea to make a vid about that.
See it here:...
hope my english is quite understandable...i am from Germany, you know.

Hi,
its me again.
because this is the newest post about that theme i state it here.
Okay...as i just mentioned my vista roof was already rattling and slowing down a bit for some weeks.
Yesterday morning the situation got more difficult.
I got at about 0730L in my car and it was still quite cold...only a few °C but very sunny. So i opened the roof.
That was not a problem.
I drove to work (10min) and when i try to close the roof leaving that car it got the same so often described issue.
The roof didn't want to close completely. It stopped the exact same 8" before completely closing.
Further tryouts had no success. Every time the same picture.
During the day i made some tests and realized that the roof steering seem to "think" that the roof is closed at that position, because all programmed open/stop/close-positions were displaced about the same 8" in back direction.
Further tests like removing the fuse or disconnect battery shew also no success.
After driving home i saw that there are already some other threads about that issue. And some people told about decalibrated roof steering, but that there are no really fix hints eccept to get that car to the dealer.
I decided to study my Edge in detail about that problem and wanted to know exacty how the vista steering is mechanically and electrically working and began to remove the headliner in the interieur.
While working on my edge i got the idea to make a video about that.
I am cutting on that at the moment and will release it here...guess will be soon...so stay tuned.

Do someone know if i have to change the calipers, too, when i got the 320mm-discs.
Do the AWD has a completely different brake system as the FWD?
Thanks
Marc
-
Hi,
thank you so much so far for the hints.
guess i can drive 5000-10000km with the actual pads and the original discs are not looking so much good anymore, too.
So i will change discs and pads together and will take 320mm-discs on front and rear with ceramic pads.
Maybe i will purchase some brake lines, too. Have to admit that i didnt know what yo mean with brake lines first...never heared that before, but inbetween got some informations about them in www. When i will get some i will ask you how to install them.
Had the idea to color the calipers, too. Guess i will make them orange or silver just like dwtc. Will do it just with the work changing brakes.

One further thing that came on my mind:
when you mean that the glass roof don't close completely with the onetuch-function...
that is normal and is mentioned in the owners manual, too.
For the last inches to close the roof completely you must hold the button.

Hi,
ia have some questions about Eddies brake setup...
1. am i right that Edges original brake disc diameter is 295mm? (in special FWD)
2. I would like Eddie to get some sharper brakes and think to reach that with some greater discs. Can you recommend some fitting Edges with FWD?
3. Saw some prake pads in some shops and in ebay with ceramic material. Would you recommend that?
4. Did you something do to get sharper brakes? What in detail?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
have this problem a bit, too.
My window closes but gets really slow on the last cms.
In my opinion the problem is the following:
the e-motor of the window is a bit weak and its moving rail in rail on some kind of plastic in aluminium rails.
With the time the grease is getting old and dirty and surface of the rails is getting stump and the window is blocking on its way.
When you get your Edge to the dealer i guess they do anything else as putting some special grease on the plastic surface.
With the time this grease is getting vanished away by the window moves, dried out by weather, sun and so on and the game starts again from beginning.
Try to get some grease for plastic surfaces (f.e. for plastic gear wheels) or grease on MOS²-Base or something like that and get it on the rails every time you clean up your car.
Guess that can help.

But there is a problem with the LED bulbs. They will flash very quick.
Heard about this...but also that it depends on the type of the LED bulbs...Had ordered some out of the link above and will make some experoence with them. After that i will review about them here.

Do yourself a favor and change your taillight bulbs to 3157 or led don,t go with the 4157
Will do it...thanks.
Should i go to the dealer for changing the bulb sluts?...theyre quite brown, too...but they,re in function.
Do you think the problem is solved when only changing to LED...my dealer is quite far from me (~200km) but i have still guarantee for 5months
Found the thread about the brown backlights...didn't think about it first, that my backlightsetup is bit different than yours.
- back-light (normal) and brake-light (brighter) (big red in middle)
- Backup-lights are turning lights (white above; because red turninglight is forbidden in GE) and
- lower sidemarkers.
But bulb slots are still like original. bulb standards are normally not allowed in Germany but seem to have a waiver in vehicle documents. So i guess i may use
LED bulbs, too. Will order some now.
Thanks again
