Im not sure, but our idles down to about 550 Rpm. It seems kind of low, but we haven't had any problems.

I have read in a few spots on this forum that vehicles built before JAN '07(I think) are more prone to problems. Is this true? Did Ford change something with suppliers or design? Whats the deal? How do you find out your build date and what problems are more likely with older ones?

So my introduction to the Edge came at the Washington Auto Show in DC and I fell in love with this car. When the big 25 approached last week, I said forget renting cars, I'm going to buy the car I've been ogling for nearly 6 months. I passed on the Mazda CX7 and closed a GREAT deal on a FWD Carbon Metallic SEL Plus, Med Light Stone with Vista Roof, Rear Sensor... everything but the Tow Package, Cargo System and Nav System.
The best part was the complete surprise on my girlfriend's face when she expected me to pick her up in my little Black 2000 Jetta GLS. The double-takes and remarks I received from family, friends and coworkers on Wednesday were priceless, but none of that was nearly as enjoying as the trip I took down to the beach the next night for a long beach weekend at the Outer Banks. One week (and 800+ miles) later I'm more than satisfied with my purchase. I wake up excited to sit in DC traffic.
The Edge is nothing like the family Ford cars I worked on with my dad growing up. This one has bite. And it's making 25 easy to swallow :shades:
(Will post pics some time soon)
We also traded in my wifes black Jetta for the same Carbon Metalics SEL Plus Fwd. What a difference!! I am always offering to run errands for her just so I can drive it. Don't want her to deal with any of those gas nozzle popping out problems. "I better take it and fill it up!!" :happy feet: Enjoy 25. My wife and I are both 31, married 1 year, and our baby boy is 3 weeks old. Live up the freedom while you can. The family life is awesome, but you will never be as free from responsibitly as you are now!!

Not too loud. Kind of a deeper tone. With the 6 speed it isn't turning that many rpms.
-
Are you sure they are not too large of files? I had that happen. You may have to reduce the size of the image(s).

Here's a clip from the inside. Windows up, air and radio off.

It does not have the growl of a V8. It is real close to like a 350Z. Maybe a bit louder. It seems louder on the video clip than in person though. I will try to get an interior clip and maybe another one driving.

Thanks Jimmerz!! I uploaded to Photobucket.com.

I finally got a sound clip but now I can't upload it to this site. Any advice on how to do it? I can e-mail it to anyone if you'd like. I can be mailed at: ryethor@aol.com It is a 40MB file taken from our camera and is a Windows Media File if that helps any computer savy people..

Saleens7, you seem pretty up to date on all the aftermarket performance mods. Are there any air intake kits or programmers out there? I have looked alot but haven't had any luck.
-
You just need 1 cut up front. The rest of it just clamps in. The stock exhaustt can be put back with a clamp. or have an exhuast shop weld it. It is actually pretty easy on this vehicle.
-
If you save your stock exhaust, you can always put it back on. Atleast maybe sell the aftermarket kit used. The stock kit shold come off with just 1 cut up front.

Just going to get the cargo liner. The wife isn't into the diamond plate look for the seating area. Thanks for the info though!!
-
That is all I needed to hear. Ordering today!
-
Bryce, Has the cargo liner formed more to the floor? It looks like not a perfect fit. I remember you saying that they came rolled up and was wondering if it has flattened out any since your original pics.

What did the full set cost you? The rear cargo area looks great, but would like to keep atleast the front seats looking a bit less "industrial". The one in the back seat didn't look too bad as it is way less visible than the front. I have been told that thses are absolutely necessary with kids. We have a 2 week old who hasn't began making messes yet, but I can only imagine what to expect.

On our Edge Sel Plus we have Continental "Cross Contact" 245x60x18 M&S. Those are on the factory chrome rims.

hey szone. we are real close neighbbors.. neat to see people this close.
-
I guess it did work. We can try to get a video/sound when my wife gets home. I could have got them a bit better but it is like 100 degrees out and the blacktop driveway is friggin HOT!

does it sound much different from stock? Sound clip?
-Dan
I have no idea how to get a sound clip. I will get some pics and try to upload them. The 1st ones I tried it said they were too big..??.. I'll have my wife do it, she is way more computer savy than I am.

Ours gets cold and it has been mid 90's here recently. It seems that when driving, I can necer get the air to blow directly on me. Being that I like it colder than the wife does, it really helps to have it blowing on you. She is freezing in the passenger seat and I am warm. Is this the Ford Engineers actually on my side making it so she actually drives????

Hey did the Gibson people say about how much this system was going to cost? I just can't wait...
I am guessing in the $500 range. I am not sure though. The one they did for us was aluminzied not stainless. I don't think it reall matters much in L.A. as corrosion is not much of a problem on vehicles. I called the guy in the R&D dept there to ask when they would have info on it. No return call though. Gibsons # is (951) 372-1221. Call them and ask. It can't hurt. I wish I could figure out how to record the sound and put it on the computer. I can put on some pics though.

That must sound great. I love the sound of the 350z's....Does it look like it will be hard to install? How did you work out being the prototype Edge? Sounds like a great deal.
It seems like it would be simple. There are actually 2 mufflers. 1 up front that is one pipe in and one pipe out. the second is at the rear and is one pipe in and splits to the tips. They did us up with the intercooler tips too.
I checked Gibsons website for anything they had and saw that if they didn't make it, you could sign up to get them to maybe us your vehicle. We are fairly close to Gibson and just had to rent a car for a few days. They installed it and welded it in. The kit will be bolt on.
Window Tint

Front window tint is illegal here in California. As is about every thing..... We will however be doing 35 on the front 2 windows to match up better with the rears. My friend who does the tint says that by tinting the fronts, it will make the rear seem even darker..??.. We will see... So long as we don't get busted and have to remove it we will be fine. The whole vehicle being a dark color (Carbon Metalic) gets real hot regardless of how dark the windows are.
