  1. I called Ford to make sure my information is in the system, but my dealer cannot find it. I called Ford again to check, but they told me the $750 is selectively given by the system -- it's radomly, and they cannot control anything about it. I am going to purchase the Ford 2013 Edge tomorrow... Can anyone tell me what should I do to get the $750? Thanks, Jessey

I would order more brochures and wait it out. I ordered ones for 4 serperate vehciles about 3 weeks ago and got the offer for 3 of them plus another via email. They started coming as soon as 1 week (Escape) and as slow as the Edge brochure I got just yesterday.

  2. If I would have only known sooner a $69 chip could have added 60HP and 4-7 MPG. If only Ford Engineers would have known this I could have had a 345 HP Edge.

There is zero possibilty that you will see any improvements whatsever. Get a refund if you can.

  3. I bought my Edge May 2011 and have had non-stop problems with MFT and Sync. I've taken to the dealer twice - would have been more but I've lived with the problems because my dealer won't give me a loaner even though its all under warranty.

The first time they said they installed an "update", the second time they said the system was corrupt - both were temp fixes as the problems came back.

Does anyone know if the update that is due any time now will fix the following issues:

    • Steering wheel controls and voice commands don't work or are delayed first five minutes of driving car

    • Directions won't download from Sync services - just keeps ringing

    • Sync services "voice" is barely audible. Turning up volume doesn't work

    • Screen goes black while driving. Sometimes its followed by "scheduled system maintenance", sometimes not.

    • Phone doesn't always pair

    • Playing music via Bluetooth sometimes shows the song/artist info, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes the track info is stuck.

I'm so fricken' sick of all the problems and the run around from the dealer. The first time I brought it in the service adviser was clueless about the system. I described my long list of problems and he couldn't translate it to the service ticket and had to correct his descriptions. He then made a snarky comment about his fingers hurting from all the typing like it was my fault. The he calls me later to tell me I need to come back with my phone. WTF? Just pair another phone?? Why didn't he mention that to me before I left? They didn't give me a loaner so I had to get a ride back.

I'll NEVER buy another Ford again... this is my first one. I miss my old BMW X3. I paid for all these features and they are pretty useless. Without all the fancy technology, it's just an old crappy Ford!

Download and install the update. It will resolve the majority, if not all of your issues. I have been running it since last Thursday, and I have been pretty impressed so far. From reading the message board, the reviews seem to be overwhelmingly positive.

  4. My 6 month promo of Sirius is about to expire and I'm on the fence for renewal. They've been sending me renewal info but no real deals.

I'm wondering if I hold out if they'll offer a better deal. Anyone gotten anything by waiting?

    Thanks all.

I let mine expire and a week later I got a deal in the mail for 6 months of "Sirius Everything" for $24.99. Called them up that day and took the deal. In my experience they will always bargain with you. All it takes is a phone call and a little patience.

  5. Yes, in a heartbeat. Its got all the potential in the world, but I have completely lost faith in MFT. Who knows when the update will come out and how well it will even work. 1.5 years post release should be more than enough time to get this situation in control. I have actually started to look around a bit at potentially trading in.

  6. Hi, my first post here.

I have been checking out the site for a while and think I have decided to look for a 2011 Edge Limited. Or, maybe the SEL.

My biggest question is, how bad is this "Touch" dash board/software?? This is all you hear about, how bad it is. Is it fixable with updates? Has it been updated and fixed already? Or, is it really just a learning curve? I don't think it is a deal breaker for me..... or should it be??

Also, what are the major differences from the SEL vs the Limited??

Thanks for all of you help!

    -Kirk

You are going to get a ton of varied opinions here. MFT has so much potential, but the software is indeed very flawed. It is absolutely not a learning curve issue. They have been several updates put out by Ford, but the fixes have been marginal at best. I think the upcoming rewrite may very well be its salvation, but if not, I will probably be trading mine for something else in the near future. Don’t get me wrong, the Edge is a great car, but the MFT has a lot of room for improvement. Your best bet is to probably take one for an extended test drive and see for yourself. Just don’t expect MFT to operate like it has been portrayed in the commercials.

  7. OK, got my radio and installed... The number on it is 8E5T-18K931-EA..... When I power it on it says, "Navigation Fault, A system fault has been detected that may cause the navigation to perform abnormally, Please contact your dealership".... Any ideas what this means? The Nav doesn't work, it thinks I am in Michigan, which I am not... I'm thinking the previous owner of the radio lived in Michigan... lol I'm thinking I also have the wrong antenna, could that do all this too?

The sync and phone buttons on the steering wheel don't work, the others do, so i'm in the same boat.... will need to replace the buttons and the wiring, once I figure it out...

I am pretty sure its your antenna. When I was installing one in my old 2010, I was getting the same error, and it was just a bad connection from the receiver to the antenna. I believe the Navigation systems always default to Dearborn Michigan (Ford Motor Company HQ).

  8. Many of the problems with MFT I personally think are user error. No different than a computer. I haven't really had my edge very long, 2 and a half weeks, but I don't have even 2% of the issues many people are complaining about. Mine has froze and immediately rebooted once, however I tried to make it do 4 things at the same time. A computer is no different. I have only had that one issue. I have found with the sync part you need to pronounce words how they look not the correct way in English. Other than the one crash and restart that took all of 3 mins I have had zero problems and I have put 700 miles on it. As far as people complaining about having to take their car into the dealer to have the updates done, they really do not belong having a "smart" car. I followed the very simple instructions on syncmyride.com and it took 45 mins total to update the software on MFT.... I take the complaints to be about as valuable as consumer reports (next to useless). Biggest problem is 95% of people have zero patience and that is why they are having so many issues with MFT. They aren't going to get much more of a discount because the dealer is not going to go below invoice unless they absolutely have to. Dealers don't stay dealers long if they do...

You are sadly mistaken my friend. The vast majority or issues are absolutely software related. 700 miles is hardly enough time behind the wheel to make your assessment. I am at 20K right now and MFT has given me more issues than I care to mention. I am optimistic about the update, but I still would advise caution when buying a vehicle with MFT.

  9. I just bought a 2012 Ecoboost Edge and I need to have a hitch installed. The dealer subs the install out and charges 500 bucks. Uhaul did my Charger RT for 200 and did a fantastic job.

I'd like to use Uhaul again, but nobody seems to have a hitch for a 2012 EDGE SEL Ecoboost because the model is too new. I've called a few places including Hidden Hitch.

They all ask if the 2011 4 cylinder model will fit the 2012 4 cylinder Ecoboost.

Are the undercariage designs between the 2011 regular 4 cylinder and the 2012 turbo 4 cylinder the same? Or is there a different exhaust or frame configuration?

    Thanks,

    Tom

I am with you. There is no way I would pay a dealer $500 to install a hitch. I have no definitive answer to your question, but there are no 4 cylinder models of the Edge prior to your 2012 Ecoboost. All previous generation Edges came with the 3.5L or 3.7L V6's. Regardless, I am guessing that the undercarriage would be the same on all models as a cost saving measure.

  10. Hi Guys-

I have a new Ford Edge 2011. I just realized that I didn't get the $795 navigation upgrade. I think they call it the Sirius link option or something. The Microsoft Sync voice navigation seems awful. It doesn't allow me to input my destination which drives me crazy so far.. Should I take the car back to the dealership and have them upgrade to the Sirius navigation?? Is it worth it?

    -Rinat

I believe that you are out of luck if navigation was not installed from the factory. I have not heard of anyone who has been able to upgrade post delivery. Sync turn by turn navigation is probably your only option without a portable unit. Sirius Travel Link has nothing to do with navigation. Its for things such as Fuel prices, weather, scores, and Movie show times.

  11. Thats the thing, did shop around. The cheapest I could find online was around $1800 for the 84/125k ESP. I had intended to buy it after the fact, but the dealer beat the best online price by $100. Seemed like a no brainer to me.

    Try Flood Ford www.floodfordesp.com/. Its a little over a $1000 for 84/125 with a $0 deductible.

  12. 1.9% for 60 only if you take the Premium ESP? Did you even want the ESP? I don't see how a rate on a loan is dependent on add-ons you purchase. If that's the rate BOA approved you for, you should be entitled to it regardless.

Plus you can get the Ford ESP significantly cheaper if you shop around online from other Ford dealers.

  13. does the 2010 have HD radio and sync apps? Ether way if i'm mistaken about the year of the radio does anyone have any idea on how I can load sync apps onto it?

Your Navigation unit is from a 2009 or 2010, thus no HD radio option. I don't believe applink is currently available in any Edge.
