    spark plugs

Not to hijack but had a quick spark plug question. I keep reading up on how people are chaning sparkplugs in this motor and either reciving decent or bad MPG. It seems that its got to be either the selection of brand or type of plug or the gap. I was wanting to purchase a set of plugs and only want to do the job once since I gotta pull the intake manifold. I think i read that the oem motorcraft plug has a platinum 'fine wire' design Well i went ot autozone and they didnt have the motorcraft ones in stock. I was sold a set of autolite double platinum APP5364 I checked online and the double Plat's dont have that fine wire in them. But the XP5364s have it. Would it be a good idea for gas mileage to return the double plats for the XP's? (keep in mind the XP's are $2 more per plug. What is fine wire and what does it help? It sounds like just a thinner tip. Thanks All.
  2. If its a matter of swapping tranny's then its not gonna happen. Im not going to bother doing that vehicle has less than 20k on it. That sucks. Ford used to prewire some models i've generally worked on mustangs and certain years we're prewired until ford got cheap. My wife is bugging me to get her the upgraded steering wheel, she hates "the way" shes gotta reach across the dash i guess it is a little uncomfortable. But if its not prewired then blah, that ideas down the drain too. The only thing that seems easy is grabbing a ford nav radio to jazz this thing up a bit i guess. Well if it plugs right in, which it seems like it would searching some other posts. Thanks guys
  3. Seeing as I paid 13k for this one with 16000 miles vs 20k+ plus for upgraded models with 40,000 miles or more our monthly payments are very low just what we needed. Thats just how they are in our area anyway yes I shopped around. For people w ith real answers there is a smashed edge near me AWD. I know someone who works through the yard that has it right now and can pretty much get the AWD system, well driveshafts back. But before i spent the money id like to know if this is even doable without major tweaks. What exactly is needed? I wont get mine on a lift till monday so i was hoping a edge member would beable to help out.
  4. Hey everyone, I purchased a 08 edge for my wife. Money was tight had to keep our payments low so we got a 2008 SE edge. Has nothing for upgrades but its affordable and my wife loves it. Heres my questions, im a 20 year mechanic so any work is no problem. Id like to possibly change it from FWD to the AWD system (even tho its not the best). Seems id need the rear diff, rear axles, mounting hardware, almost seems like there are 3 small driveshafts as well? (just looking at a picture) Has anyone done this? Would i need a new tranny? Sensors? We just got it yesterday, i havent even looked on it on a lift at work yet. Another thing would be wiring harness... is it Prewired? OR ould i need a AWD wiring harness's and new ecu from a awd edge? Just curious if this has been done before. Id also like to buy a pulled oem navigation from ebay, their about 500 bucks. Will it plug and play? Also did ford prewire these cars? like for front fog lamps or If i was to get a new steering wheel with radio controls or for power seats and other oem upgrades. LMK guys I would really appreciate it!
