wheel bearings

I have a 2010 Lincoln MKX which is essentially the same as the Escape when it comes to wheel bearings. I have less than 135KM on the SUV and all 4 wheel bearings are in full failure. When I asked my service advisor if this was normal, he said that it is very common in both the Ford Edge and the Lincoln MKX as they are the same. He said that he does not see this issue in other types of cars including Fords. He says it has to probably do with the way the suspension puts pressure on the bearings at perhaps a less than optimal angle which causes the failure.

I contacted Lincoln to see if they would, at the very least, pay for the labor as it seems clear that it is either a product or design fault. Most cars will go 300KM without this issue and perhaps 1 wheel bearing will need replacement, not all 4. Well, Lincoln was not prepared to do anything about it although this premature failure is all over the internet and mechanic sites.

My suggestion to all you owners is that you make sure to have your wheel bearings replaced while you are still under warrant and insist on it.

Personally, after owning several Lincolns (my wife also has a Lincoln). I will never buy another one and would recommend the same for anyone considering or asking.
