My ride was delivered a week early and I hadn't decided on claybar, so I panicked and bought a Meguairs Smooth Surface clay kit frm the local O'Reillys. I already have Menzerna Power Lock sealant and Poor Boy's Natty Blue wax that i ordered from DI. Am I going to completely screw up my brand new Tuxedo Black finish by using an off-the-shelf claybar? Has anyone had any experience with Meguairs claybar? If it makes any difference the clay is white. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Thanks! We are excited. The car actually was delivered a week ahead of schedule. The dealer "found' some more discount/rebate money because he wanted to get the sale before the end of the month. Tomorrow starts the detailing. Time to go review the Ask A Detailer topic again!

I ordered mine Sept 18th, and this morning the dealer called and told me it was sitting in his lot. Now it's sitting in my driveway! It took one day short of 6 weeks from order to delivery.

I ordered mine last month and was supposed to be built last week. I haven't heard of any delays either. But curiously, the window sticker for my VIN still isn't showing up at http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com yet either.

I guess you could ask the same question about Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infinity or Chevy/Buick/Cadillac. We ordered an MKX not because it was $10K more than the Edge, but because it was $5-15K less expensive than comparable CUV's from BMW, Audi, Lexus, Infinity, LR, VW, etc... And it was built by a North American company that isn't owned by the government.

How many MF towels will it take to apply the Power lock sealant on an Edge/MKX? I assume one to apply, but how many will it take to remove it? Should one use the sealant on the BAMR?

Thanks for the info Canuck. If the dealer offers a sealant application should I take it, or find a local detailer, or try to do it myself? If the dealer offers it, can I use your method & product selection as a benchmark? How do I know the dealer isn't going to just spray WD40 on it an call it a day? I'm a bit leery about doing it myself because I've built furniture before as a hobby, and if I screwed up the finish I could just take it down a little and start again. i don't think you have that option with car paint finishes, especially if it's a funky metallic/glass Tuxedo Black. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Canuck, So when should someone put a sealant on new car paint? I'm in Minnesota and pending confirmation from the dealer should be picking up my new ride early-mid November, and the average high temp is 40F. I'm hoping that the factory paint/treatment job will last until spring (April/May). What is your advice?

Awww, the pics disappeared. I had the opportunity to sit in a white Edge Sport on Friday and I gotta tell you they are nice! Another dealer in town just received a blue one. I'm going to have to go look at that one too. I can't seem to make up my mind.

I think I solved the mystery. In order to get the 3.7L motor, adaptive cruise control, and HID headlamps, I'll have to get an MKX. By the way, there is both an Edge and an MKX at the MN State Fair. I sat in them both, and I got to say the interior of the MKX is incredible.

Thanks for your insight akirby. I've been to the website several times and the options seem goofy. You can order the best performance model, but without the of the best safety features. I find that weird. Does anyone know of an order option code or "sekret handshake" or something that will allow someone to order these options on the Sport? Wifey wants the safety options, I want the performance. Help!

Bummer. I wonder why they limited it to the Limited. Do HID headlamps conflict with the Sport's smoked lenses? You would think the cruise wiring, etc. would be the same since the brake systems are probably the same between the two models. Does anyone have any insight?

Is it possible to order a 2011 Edge Sport with the HID headlamps and the Adaptive Cruise Control? Or are they only available on the Limited? I'd like to order a Sport with these options if possible.
