  1. Hey Choff, don't leave. We'll all miss your positive attitude and genuine excitement for your ride. A lot of us feel the same way about ours, but we just aren't as good at writing about it. There are a few people here with legitimate issues, but I'm also getting tired of them spamming each and every thread with yet another version of thier complaint every time someone leaves a comment. We get it: Your Sync isn't working, or won't stream your crappy music from your new phone. Get over it. Any feelings of empathy from the rest of us was lost after your third post. Aside from all the whiners, I've learned a lot from this forum. Here are some highlights: - I learned how to correctly set the set the seat & steering wheel to match my fob. - I've learned that the cargo cover is junk, so instead of spending $125 on one I bought a black fleece throw blanket from Target for $13. - I've learned all about how a noob can to properly detail a new car (Thanks Canuck!), and now my Tuxedo Black paint looks really awesome. - I've learned where to get a nice trailer hitch cover (eTrailer), and where to get a really good screen protector (NuShield). - I've learned all about Fuse 29, and hope I never have to pull it. There is more, but this is what I remember off the top of my head. So please stay on and please keep posting. We are all looking forward to hearing your experiences with the extreme cold and snow. I'm hoping that people like you, Canuck, Akirby and BlueEdge don't get frustrated and leave, because it's people like you that give the rest of us a reason to come back.
  2. I started by going onto the internet and finding/printing out prices at other local dealerships for similar equiped Edges & MKXs. A lot of dealers will show thier "best price" on the internet these days. Most of the dealers at the time were giving around $4,000 discounts so that's where I started. I printed off the summary page from the MKX configurator, crossed off the grand total, and wrote in what I wanted to pay, and handed it to the dealer. I let him figure out all the official and unofficial rebates & discounts to meet my number, which he was able to do. My car came in with 2 days left in the month so the dealer gave me even more off if I bought it that day, which I did. After all was said and done, I got $5,500 off MSRP for a fully loaded MKX. No trade-in, had a big down pymt and financed through them at a decent rate. I hope this helps. Happy shopping!
  3. I've had my MKX a month now, and had one reboot (I think it was a reboot), and 2 blank/white screens. I have been able to get the screen back by shifting into reverse so the camera comes on, and then going back into drive. It will sometimes connect and then drop my phone when I first start it, but if I pull the phone out of my pants pocket and either put it my jacket pocket or put it in the console it'll reconnect. I guess i have not been having a lot of the problems others here have been doing, but then again i don't do any BT music either.
  4. Wilson, do you have your heated seats turned on when you shut off the car? I usually do, and that might be what it remembers when it's restarted. Just a thought.
  5. Now that it's been cold enough for a few weeks I can issue this report. My MKX consistently will have the defrost, the seats and steering wheel fairly warm when the temp is below freezing. I get in, hit Start, and it switches back to auto. So far it's working for me.
  6. Is that what that is? Huh. I guess I'll haveto take a closer look the next time I'm back there.
  7. I'm thinking that I saw a filler for a the rear window washer under the floor in the back. lift up the two metal clamps right inside the back, and the floor lifts up to get to the spare. I think the filler might be in there.
  8. Sweet ride, Hunter! It took a while for Sync to learn my voice too. I finally figured out how to "train" it to recognize me. I started out with saying "Phone", waited for "Please say a command", then said "Call FirstName Last Name", pausing in between a little. After about a week or so, you can start dropping the "Phone" command. Then the LastName. Now I can just say "Call FirstName" and it works fine.
  9. Wouldn't ya know, I set my MKX to defrost last night, and today the defroster was on when I remote started it. it wasn't that cold this morning either, somewhere around 34 degrees. So this time it worked. Tomorrow will be the real test as we are forecasted to get somewhere around 6-10 inches of the fluffy stuff.
  10. I've run into the same issue. I reset it all tonight, and tomorrow I guess I'll see if it works this time.
  11. Choff, I'm with you 100%. I bought mine because I wanted a nice car that had some really cool tech, not because I needed another cell phone with album art. Headlights that turn when I do? Cool. Outside mirror that dims by itself? Cool! Rain-sensing wipers that actually work? Cool. Adaptive cruise that I can actually use on suburban highways? Cool. A car that watches my oil and tire pressure by itself, and runs diagnostics by itself? Cool. A backup camera that works in pitch black, and a reverse sensor that can pick up a curb? Cool. The BAMR? Ummm... cool. A voice-activated system that has learned that when I used to have to say "Phone... Call... Jnnn... Mnnn..." I can now say "Call Jnnn"? Cool bonus round. I'm still discovering some of the stuff this thing does, and does well. I could go on and on, but it's safe to say that I am impressed more every day i own it.
  12. I finally got around to ordering the all-weather floor mats and the this evening. I also had them throw in the Cargo Accessory Package (rear all-weather cargo protector and bumper protector). The parts guy said that he had to order directly from the vendor, so it would take a week or two. The floor mats were $4.00 more than they are on the "Build and Price" part of the Lincoln website, but the rear stuff ended up being $15.00 cheaper. I felt like I was getting such a good deal that I had him order a *ahem* "coin holder" too. You know, just in case I have a really long drive ahead of me and I need a place to put my coins out when I'm done with them.
  13. I just checked SyncMyRide. It looks like they yanked the update from me too. It's not listed anymore.
  14. I think I discovered something cool and unexpected with my MKX. It looks like the outside driver's door mirror dims at night when on a dark road and traffic is coming up from behind. i knew the inside mirror was supposed to do that, but i didn't know the outside one does it too! Has anyone else noticed that? Or is my eyesight just going bad?
  15. Hmmm.. no aftermarket mats for the 11 Edge or MKX yet. I just e-mailed the dealer about OEMs. We'll see what they say.
  16. Thanks richy. Good info. I just e-mailed the dealer about OEMs. We'll see what they say.
  17. Speaking of winter, snow, and all the crud it drags into the car, did anyone get the all-weather floormats and/or the cargo accessory package? If so what are your thoughts? Do they fit well and seem durable? I thought I ordered them when I ordered my ride, but apparently the dealer missed thta request. How I am wondering if I should just order them from the parts dept. Are they worth it, or should I look aftermarket?
  18. Upon recommendation from someone on this forum, I went to etrailer.com. They seem to have a lot of variety. They even have that light-up smiley face you've been looking for. http://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Hitch_Covers.aspx
  19. I have an Android 2.2 phone (HTC G2) and the contacts synced automagically, but the pictures didn't. I guess I didn't look to see if the addresses pulled over. Anyone else use an android phone? how has your experience been?
  20. This is the first vehicle I've ever owned with a trailer hitch receiver. The owners manual dosen't say what size it is. Does anyone know what the trrailer hitch receiver size is on an Edge/MKX? Is it 1-1/4" or 2"? I want to get a hitch cover but don't know what size to order.
  21. OK Canuck, ya scared the crap out of me again. But I do respect your knowledge and experience so I will defer to it. The last black car I owned was a new 85 Mustang GT. I had to turtle-wax the thing weekly cuz I had swirled the crap out of the paint every time I washed and waxed it. What did I know? 25 years later, I'm hoping to not repeat that again. I was going to practice claybarring on the old car that has 12 year old white paint but I don't think I'll see the mars (scratches) like I would on fresh black paint. I think i'll just wash the new car, seal it, and either give it another coat of sealant or else the wax for the winter prep. ...And then go cry myself to sleep.
  22. Cool. Thanks for the info. Even tho the dealer had just washed the car (it was still wet in a couple places) I ran my hand down the side of the fenders and realized it wasn't as smooth as I had thought it should have been. I'm hoping the claybar will work.
