  1. My wife's '09 MKS has perforated seats, along with my '12 MKX. Hers are starting to split where the perforated part of the seat meets the solid section. Going to have this seat portion re-skinned. I do keep the seats clean and treated, and the car is garaged year round. Maybe we just got a bad portion of leather, I don't know. Lincoln puts in the bridge-of-weir leather, maybe it's TOO SOFT ! My '06 Explorer had perforated leather, and til today, it still looks good, the shop forman at our dealership bought it, so I occasionally get to see it.

  2. My sister-in-law (wife's sister) had a extended warranty with a company that was a "outsider" and to put it bluntly, they covered SHIT. First occurance was the throttle body, was not covered, but if it was a Ford Premium Care, it would have been covered. She had another issue with a repair that wasn't covered. Two repairs cost her about $2,100, plus the cost of $ 1,300 for the warranty, blown out the window. Stay away from outsiders, unless it lists everything in writing what is covered.

  3. Hi, it was probably my post on the loud noise from the ABS in the snow. Kind of sounds like galloping horses. This sound, according to the shop foreman, whom I have a great rapport with, said the sound is more pronounces because the ABS pump is right near the firewall on the drivers side. My wife's '09 MKS DOES NOT make a noise like this, her pump is in the front. The tech took me out in another '12 MKX in the snow, and it makes the same sound. Not sure that this made the same noise previous winters, this still has me a little uncomfortable. Would appreciate anyone else's similar issues.

  4. Congrats on your maintenance/upkeep of your Edge. Today, we usually keep cars for 6-8 years, the exception as back in 1988, when I bought a new Taurus. Had a '79 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham, a sweet car. Had 150,000+ miles on it, the wife said I better buy a new car, this wouldn't last forever, hence the '88 Taurus. Sold the Olds to a local trans repair shop, knew the guy for many years. He kept it until it had 325,000 miles on it, and sold it to a kid. It still ran well, but he had a chance to pick up a car with a lot less miles on it. They key factor to longevity is keep the oil & filter changed ( I did it ever 3K ), keep it well tuned, and trans service ever 60K & radiator flush every 60K also. I hate when people say that American products aren't as good as foreign. I've never had problems with our cars, all American except one '87 Honda Accord, that went through 3 CV boots in five years ! ( ugh) Got rid of that, put the wife in a '92 Taurus LX (top model). She drove Taurus's, then Ford Five Hundred, and switched her into a '09 Lincoln MKS which she still drives (and loves). I have a '12 MKX, great vehicle, plan to keep it for at least 8-10 years.

  5. Looks sweet, only one thing concerns me. On the top left side of the console is a green light. Is that the start/stop button for the engine? If it is, in my opinion, a poor placement, as you could accidentally hit the button and shut the engine off while driving, if using radio/HVAC controls.
