  1. Question: Canada VS USA: I liive in Canada and would like to buy an Ford extended warranty. Which seems to be cheaper in the US. Can I call a US dealer and purchase a warranty over the phone and take advantage of it in Canada? Has anyone done this?
  2. That sounds like the same issue I had......There is a software update. My dealer updated the software, this does require a special cable. Your dealer should be able to get the software and cable soon, if not now, as it has just been or soon to be released.
  3. I actually went to Erinwood to get mine. I know a service manager at a dealership and he confirmed the issues Ford was having and they have now released the fix and cable as you suggested :)

  4. Did you go to fraser to look at an edge?

  5. I dont think they are trying to cover it up. I think they just dont know. They sold a few edges, and i am the only one with problems, other than the ones on this forum. For sales talk to Bryan (last name I forget) or the sales manager Brian Anderson (i think) I am bad with names.

In my experiences with local ford dealers Fraser has been great,. and marigold and was terrible.

  6. Who did you deal with at Fraser ?

I called them and the guy who books the appointments said he is not aware of any issues with myford touch and the screens going blank ?

Called a few other to and they said the same thing. Wonder if employees are trying to cover this up ?

  7. I had the edge for about a month when it started having issues. After about 6 week i took it in. From what i understand is that the software is complete, its just getting a few "approved" stamps on it before releasing it to the public. And YES the nav is completly in KM voice and on screen. I also thought it must be a hardware issue not a sofware issue...but...... I dont know the name/version of software, but i am guessing it may be a recall. It cannot be loaded via USB. The dealership needed to use a new cable to comunicate with the sync.
  8. Hi what model did you get ?

Did you buy it from Fraser ?

What issues did you have with it ?

    I live in Whitby

    Thanks

  9. Good news!!!! Picked up my edge yesterday from ford. The dealership was able to get a early release of the sofware upgrade. They had a cable rushed in wednesday from just being manufactured tuesday. Sync is now reprogrammed. Some things are slightly different such as ( Have only driven the car for 20 minutes) : Faster screen.......not fast, but very tolerable Nav reads in Km (great for the canadian metric system) And the big one - Screen works in cold temp. Started the car this morning, (-5*C over night) and the screen came right on. So far so good...... One thing I must say is that the dealership has been great to deal with. Truley nice people that seem to care. If you live in the Oshawa area, FRASER Ford is the way to go.
  10. I am also having problems with my sync screen. I have found that my issues seems to be worse in colder temperatures. The first time I took my Edge in to the dealership they tried to "reflash" the software. Didn't work. The car is in the shop again (dealership has been great to deal with) and I am in a rental. I told them I dont want the car back until it works as promised. I am in contact with ford, they are to get back to me by end of day today with answers / info / resolution. One option I am investigating is replacing the vehicle with a new one that works. If Ford tells us to be paitent with our cars fix, then maybe they should be patient with our monthly payment. "I cant tell when I will make a payment.......but it should be soon.....please be patient" We all know that wouldn't fly. Power in numbers!! I just want what I paid for.
  11. 1. I am calm, very calm. 2. finding a new dealer is not the problem, the dealership was instructed from ford not to do anything (they aware of this problem) that it is a software problem. They (ford) is working on a "fix". To me this is not acceptable. The Edge did not undergo sufficient testing or they just pushed out into market. And just last week I was thinking ordering a new F-150 with the new 3.5 twin turbo.........
  12. I purchased a new 2011 ford edge limited with sync and nav. BIG PROBLEM If temperature is lees than approx 2*C the touch screen DOES NOT WORK for approx 30 min into the drive (NO nav, NO AC/Heater, NO radio NO nothing). I took the vehicle to ford and they told me ford is fully aware of the problem BUT dont know why, how or when or even if they can fix the problem. How can a company knowely sell a defect product and brag about being quality? I WOULD NOT NOT BUY A 2011 FORD EDGE UNTILL THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
