  1. I am having trouble browsing the Sirius channels. When i push on Browse, sometimes the main menu will show up right away, but if i choose All Channels, it either locks up or says "Loading" and stays that way. I have only waited for 15 minutes, got tired of it. anyone else have this issue, or a fix for it?
  2. I have this same issue, but i wouldnt call mine a squeak, more of a whistle, and it's there at nearly all speeds, only when turning right. I have an appt. Friday and will update with what I find out. If this was normal or expected, then I would assume it would also happen when turning left, and would have happened day 1.
  3. I also hear a noise only when I turn right, and I think it might be similar to what you are hearing. Very faint, but with radio off and windows down it sounds like it's coming from the driver's side front wheel, but who knows. I am waiting for my first oil change to bring it in and address the BCM double recall and this sound. Let me know if you find anything out.
  4. i think eventually we will be able to use our phones and Google Nav with MFT, rather than any SD based maps....maybe Ford is working on that instead?
  5. "But, the navigation capability will only work if that vehicle was originally ordered with the navigation option..." - which, per Fords media release, is standard in Fords or Lincolns with MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch, which come standard on Limiteds and Sports, but not SELs I believe, so if you purchased a Limited, Sport, or SEL and added Navigation, you will have the navigation option. "...and therefore received a SD card upon purchase..." because I did not purchase the $795 SD card, I did not receive one, and no one enabled the navigation in my 2011 Limited with MyFord Touch. Of course none of this matters unless Ford actually decides to do something about it, because the bottom line is even if the capability does exist, if Ford decides not to allow customer to enable it, it basically doesn't exist. If a tree falls in a forest when no one is around....who cares what sound it makes?
  6. I think they intended for it to cost the same either way - "The Real Cost of SD Card Navigation: It May Be No Bargain Most integrated car navigation costs $1,500-$2,000, so Ford's $795 seems a bargain. Here's the fine print: To use SD Card navigation, you need MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch, and that's $1,000 or more. On the build-to-order part of Ford's site, MyFord Touch and a rear camera are a $1,000 option for some models of the Ford Edge. Alternatively, some cars may call for the Rapid Spec 202A package, which is $2,500. On high trim-line models such as the Ford Limited and Sport, MyFord Touch comes standard. On the lower and midrange SE and SEL trim lines, cars built without MyFord Touch get a smaller 4.2-inch LCD display (it's called MyFord) that won't work with SD Card navigation but it will work with Ford's TDI (Traffic, Directions and Information) service, which is free for the first three years of ownership."
  7. This article doesn't explain where/how to buy the SD card, but it's some more information that leads me to believe that the navigation can be enabled at any time. Navigation Capabilities on All MyFord Touch Cars - But It Ships Disabled "Navigation Capabilities on All MyFord Touch Cars - But It Ships Disabled Ford explains: When you take delivery of a Ford with MyFord Touch or Lincoln with MyLincoln Touch, you get a vehicle with an 8-inch touchscreen and you also get the navigation application embedded in the car. But it's no good without the navigation SD card, for which you pay $795, and then Ford activates the car and enables navigation. That apparently means you can choose to have factory onboard navigation the day you take delivery. Or, later on, you can choose between factory navigation or a third-party portable GPS system that will be clunky, take up space on the windshield, and cost half what Ford charges. "
  8. "Ford says that its new Secure Digital (SD) card based navigation requires no extra hardware upgrades. So all you’ll have to do is purchase an upgradeable Secure Digital (SD) card-based navigation, which features full graphical maps and turn-by-turn directions, eliminating the need for expensive navigation hardware" "MyFord vehicle interface will have basic graphical turn-by-turn directions standard, with full map-based navigation delivered by Secure Digital (SD) card, eliminating the need for expensive, specialized navigation DVD drives and displays" "Map-based SD card navigation builds on current SYNC Traffic, Directions & Information application, which delivers personalized traffic reports, precise turn-by-turn directions and up-to-date information including business listings, news, sports and weather ““ without the need for built-in navigation systems"
  9. is this the article you are referring to? Navigation Standard "At the 2010 CES show today, Ford announced today that it will offer navigation as standard on all Ford vehicles with MyFord and SYNC – well, almost. Ford says that its new Secure Digital (SD) card based navigation requires no extra hardware upgrades. So all you’ll have to do is purchase an upgradeable Secure Digital (SD) card-based navigation, which features full graphical maps and turn-by-turn directions, eliminating the need for expensive navigation hardware." So according to this, all we need to purchase is the SD card. Unless of course Ford bragged about all of this innovation without actually putting it into production -

  11. Popped a CD into a 2011 Ford Edge Limited, and I expected the artist, title, album, etc. to display but came up as unknown instead. Is this meta data not stored on a CD, or readable by MFT? Or should there be some link to the GraceNote database to get this information?
  12. not sure it's purely financial - heck the stuff they sold me that was already installed doesnt work right i'm sure they don't trust themselves as a company to actually upgrade any of it yet. it's process related. They can control the revenue just like they control it when they install any after market item, there's a model in place (remote start, security, dvd, smartalert gps tracking,....
  13. I haven't seen a "compass screen" in the upper right hand corner, i think mine says "Information" and has sync services, apps/uploads, calender. Has yours always said "compass screen". maybe a difference between US and CAN?
  14. is the sirius travel link only available with nav installed? I'm not sure i have ever seen that on my system.
  15. I am in Iowa, probably comparable weather to Michigan? I haven't noticed this but I haven't taken it for a drive longer than 1 1/2 hours out on the interstate where it's wide open and windy - until this weekend - so I will be listening for this. One time I did notice some kind of a whistling noise coming from the drivers side door and it went away when I turned off the heater/fan...not sure if it wasn't sealed right or wasnt warmed up enough but it didnt sound normal, but it hasn't done that again so hopefully it wasnt the actual door that was letting in air. Do you feel any cold air coming in?
  16. We are due in March, and registered for this item at Target - My link
  17. Now BD is missing from my updates and downloads page on syncmyride.com - I have an appointment on 1/14 at the dealership to have it installed. Not sure if it's no longer being offered, why it was removed from my list of available updates/downloads? BE dissapeared yesterday....very strange way to manage communication with customers.
  18. There's a few 7 inch standalone GPS units, and plenty of 5 inch screens to choose from - so not sure why someone would be limited to a 4 inch screen. The integration would cost approx $1195 (795 + update map year 2 + 200 update map year 3) vs approx $275 for a 5inch screen with free maps 4x/year and bluetooth. The lack of flexability, limited choices and the attidute of "if you want something you better do it our way or else" is frustrating, and not necessary to succeed.
  19. i hope Ford is going to offer the ability to add navigation in the very near future, and I can't see any good reason to charge more for it post-production than when you order it from the factory. If consumers are on the fence about adding navigation after receiving their automobile, why not make it as easy as possible while still making some money - which makes me question paying $795 plus future map updates in the first place. I understand it might look better and integrates more seamlessly in the car, but the standalone GPS units are typically less expensive and work better, in my experience.
  20. Haven't gotten a call yet, and just spoke with the service manager yesterday regarding the sync update and no mention of the recall. What is it that they need to fix, and how long will it take?
  21. MMy directions have never worked, always says it fails to download, then randomly gives directions to a place I tried to get to 24 hours ago, with no way to cancel the route. This neat little Pp will just be another way for me to not use the TDI
  22. Just received this... "Chad, Thank you for your email in regards to Ford My Touch. We have just received word that Technical Service Bulletin 10-24-9 has been sent to the dealers for the My Touch System. Please contact them and schedule an appointment to bring in your vehicle for them to perform the update to your Ford My Touch system. Any dealer should be able to perform this update and the update is for the known issues that have been reported with the system. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience. [THREAD ID:1-5HS3MO] -----Original Message----- From: Sent: 12/8/2010 01:21:23 PM To: sync@ford.com Subject: Re: SyncMyRide Website – General Concern <div>Thanks Keith. Not sure if this is related to the maintenance issue, but the SYNC web site is showing that there's an update ready to be applied to my vehicle, BT4T-14D544-BD Version SYNC GEN 2. I brought my vehicle to my Ford dealer this morning for my scheduled appt., and they informed me that there is no update ready for SYNC at this time, that the website is incorrect, and that they will call me when it is ready. There seems to be some confusion around whether or not there is an update, message board users are giving mixed reviews on recent experiences with talking to dealers about the update, how informed and prepared the dealers/service departments seem to be, etc. Can you provide me with any information to help me understand if the update listed above it available, if it is necessary to go to the dealer to have it applied, if the dealers are aware of the update and have the proper tools to apply it, if there's a change-log or some list of what is being updated/enhanced/added, and lastly whether or not it's necessary to apply the update immediately or by a certain date? I have some reservations about bringing my vehicle back to the service department if the process isn't figured out - I would rather have my working, older version of SYNC then risk messing it up if the process hasnt' been ironed out yet.</div> <div> </div> <div>Thanks,</div>"
  23. I brought my less than a week old Edge into the dealer this morning after scheduling with the service dept. yesterday. Waited 40 minutes before I was told that there was a mistake, that the update notice I received wasn't supposed to be out there, that Ford wasn't ready to perform any updates to sync yet, and they would call me when they were ready. Oh and they started out by wanting to charge me $45.00 for this update. The update is still showing up on Sync My Ride - pretty sure they don't really have a handle on what's going on.
