  1. Thanks for the response Tacyon. So if what you say is true, shouldn't EVERYONE with MFT have the same problem? Does your MFT display Genre/Album on the home screen when playing from USB? Ford claims that no one has ever reported a similar problem...

I have no doubt that they just randomly grabbed data and assigned it to those fields, but why not make the damn fields editable?!?

My home screen shows song/artist when I have my iPod playing connected via USB. Just for comparisons sake, I also have a 2011 Limited.

  2. no text messages over bluetooth with iOS6 on iPhone 4, just tested.

Where did you get iOS6? My phone is saying I have the latest with 5.1.1.

I downloaded the update from SMR this morning and did the install. Took about 30 minutes, had to re-pair my phone and reset my Sirius stations, AM/FM stations didn't require it. Everything seems to be working for the moment and I too have my temp back on the center screen. I was hoping they'd fix the massive size text they use for the USB/Bluetooth title for songs or give you an option to auto-scroll the title. Text still large and you manually press the almost invisible arrow to see the rest of the title, then again to move it back.

  3. After the MFT update, we were unable to use our early-model android smartphone (about 2 years old). After replacing it with an Apple 4GS, everything worked well until we went on vacation. The Edge sat for a couple of weeks and would not recognize the cell phone upon our return. A call to the 800 number fixed the problem. They told me that we should do soft reboots on the cell phone every 3 weeks because the bluetooth signal degenerates. We never had to do this during the 3 months in which the system worked well. I hope no one else has this problem. Customer satisfaction levels will not be good if people have to reboot their cell phones every 3 weeks. A friend who purchased a 2012 Edge will not be a repeat customer.

My non-MFT Sync system in my Focus works pretty good. I am very satisfied with that system.

I'm not sure that one is Fords fault. I've had to reboot my iPhone 4 to get the bluetooth functioning properly even when it wasn't related to my vehicle.

  4. Today mine decided it no longer wanted to be part of the living and so it provided me with this display. Excuse the reflection of me, this is ugly enough and I wasn't trying to make it worse.

Now you'll notice there is no headers over any of the 4 quardrants, the text of the street I'm on is cut off with only half showing, the compass is in never never land, no radio stations are displayed and no connection to my phone.

After stopping and restarting several times I finally gave up and pulled the fuse.

What a freakin joke this software is...

  5. I would like to see support for all these My Ford Touch Enabled apps such as Pandora, Slacker, Stitcher and others.

I was told when I purchased my 2011 Lincoln MKX that the system supported them only to find out after I took delivery of the car that those features are not enabled for my car.

i'll admit I have no idea what Slacker and Stitcher are but as far as Pandora goes, since you're having to use your phone anyway to access a network, using Pandora on your phone and having it come through the car speakers is not a big deal.

  6. Didn't think so. That explains why that feature disappeared from the Focus - they're going with one version for all vehicles now. Some Focus owners are pissed.

DirecTV took away the ability for me to pause live TV while in the recorded shows playlist. It's software - stuff happens.

If you'll pause it before you go to your playlist, it should work.

  7. In the grand scheme of things, using the GPU as a general processor is actually a pretty new idea, so don't fault them for not realizing it sooner.

Amiga was doing this in the 80's. They off-loaded the graphics and sound to the Denise and Paula chips respectively. This is hardly a new idea.

Is it just me or did those guys appear to have been separated at birth?

  8. The last GMC pickup I had was 3 speed on the column, bought it new in 1980.

About a year later I got my first company car. A 79 Ford Granada.

While the gears in the pickup would stick on occasion and I'd have to get under the hood at stop lights and unstick them, I still think it was better than that Granada.

  9. I had my first adventure into pulling fuse 29 today.

On my way home at lunch the display once I went into drive showed only black with the cancel button on the left and the zoom button on the right. Now the buttons did nothing when pressed and on my right side 4" display when I got to the nav section ironically just said it wasn't working and to refer to the touch screen.

I stopped and restarted the car a couple of times and it would show the camera when I went into reverse but when I went to drive, just the cancel and zoom buttons, otherwise it was black.

I proceeded to fight with the fuse cover and wrenched my neck enough until I was able to grab fuse 29, pulled it and all came back to operational.

What a pain in the rear that was.

I officially owned my car for one year yesterday. Until 2.11 I've never had to resort to the fuse 29 trick.

2.11 sucks and I wish I'd never upgraded it, and I use the term "upgraded" begrudgingly.

  10. I liked 2.8 more than 2.11.

Mostly mine was fine, an occasional not pairing with my iphone with 2.8 and a stop and restart always fixed it. That was really the only issues I experienced on 2.8.

With 2.11 it's just been strange. For a while if I selected Sirius (no subscription) the cancel window that opens would just flash and not allow me to cancel out of it or select another audio source. I was able to duplicate this one easily but then it rebooted itself a few days later and now I can't duplicate it. Then I had a window pop up saying it couldn't find my ipod. While the ipod would play fine, the window wouldn't go away. If I chose the radio the window blocked me from being able to input a station number directly. If I switched to another function, the window remained. Stopping and restarting cleared that one up.

2.11 so far has just been random odd things. On 2.8 it seemed to recognize my voice better. On 2.8 when I press the voice button and say, "call so and so", it would call them fine. Now with 2.11 it puts up 2 or 3 different names on the screen and asks me to select the proper one. This doesn't happen every time but it never happened before.

To me, all of this seems like bad programming and not bad hardware.

  11. For the 100th time - it was not lack of testing. They had thousands of bugs identified before the launch. It was a business decision to launch with known problems, not a lack of testing.

Hey don't bark at me. If you have issues with folks opinions, close the thread.

I've paid my dues. I've gone from 2.3 to 2.11 and still if I press the Sirius button by mistake (I didn't keep the subscription) it goes into an endless loop that won't let me cancel out of it and select another audio source.

If there are known problems then tell the buying public about it so they can make an educated choice. That certainly didn't happen when I made my purchase. To be honest the stealership was totally clueless about the operation of MFT and just sent me on my way. I've generally supported it as I've not experienced the same level of frustration others have but it's been more buggy than Windows 3.1.
