  1. You have to be puzzled by what the difference is?

We have the same cars save a feature difference here or there.

    We downloaded the same update.

Yet for me, it worked flawlessly. It took a long time to update and since I didn't want to just have my car running in my garage I drove it around while it was updating and on file #3 it seemed to take forever and I thought it might be stuck but it eventually moved on and all six files were loaded and executed properly.

Since I use an Apple, the site would only allow me to use Chrome to download it, I can't say I was overly pleased about that but I downloaded Chrome and did as it demanded.

So far 2.11 is working nicely enough.

Is it the flash drive used? Is it a module in the car? Did someone get stuck on file #3 and stop it, to restart it thinking it wasn't working?

There has to be some difference that caused this for some but not all.

  2. As I'm just a few weeks away from owing my 2011 LTD for a year now, I can honestly say I still love this car and it was certainly the right purchase for me.

Sure there's been some quirks with MFT as I've gone from 2.4 to 2.11, now and overall I've been very happy. Is it perfect? No. There has been some lag at times in the past but my new laptop had lag yesterday as well. I've yet to find perfection in anything and generally speaking am not looking for it. There have a been a few times over the last year that it didn't recognize my iPhone, few being less than 10. Always turning the car off and restarting it has corrected this condition.

I've never experienced my back up camera not working.

It has restarted itself a handful of times over the last year but it's never failed to restart. A few minutes out of my life waiting for it to come active again just isn't a big deal to me.

All in all it's been a pretty good experience and in retrospect, I would be happy to make this purchase again.

I do wish they'd gone to Apple instead of Microsoft for the MFT rewrite; you know Apple would not have used Flash.

  3. I took mine in last Saturday for an oil change and had them do the upgrade to 2.8 from 2.4.

I wasn't experiencing a lot of issues, a few times it lost my phone but not that often, so far 2.8 seems to be clicking right along. It is much snappier in it's response. Since it's only been a few days it's still a bit early to tell if glitches will pop up.

  4. OK, now that I'm done venting, hopefully, here's some useful information. The problem with the USB and the AV not showing up in the infotainment display to the right of the speedometer can be fixed by just hitting the left button and then going back with the right button ( on the steering wheel).

I was also having problem getting album art to display when playing mp3's from a memory stick. After a lot of testing it appears the only way to do it is to create a separate folder for each artist. Place your music in the corresponding folder along with the album art. Then you have to re-name the album art in each folder to "folder.jpg". Unfortunately, this means that even though you may have songs from multilple albums, you can only dislplay one picture for each artist. But I guess it's better than nothing.

If anybody knows of a better, or different way to get this done, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Is there a place to actually get help from Ford or Lincoln about smaller matters like this?

Get an iMac, copy your music over to your usb stick and you're good to go.

  5. One man's trash as they say.

I think the sport is fugly, those huge wheels with no sidewalls and black filler, yuk. Then when you have to replace those tires, how much are those 22's going to cost you?

That black grill, ewww, give me chrome.

I went limited, a much classier beast in my opinion.

That's not to say I'm right and sport owners are wrong, it's just what I like and fits my personality type.

My motorcycle is a cruiser with big retro fenders and lots of chrome, not a blacked out sport model with skin tight fenders.

  6. I've done my updates, my dealer did an update, all is fine.

    Gracenotes sucks.

I wish my iPhone had MAP, but that's not sync's fault.

Sometimes the touch buttons lag a bit but most of the time it's pretty responsive.

Outside of that, I love this vehicle.

After two feet of snow over the past couple of weeks and everything still melting, I'd love to give it a bath but that would be pointless right now.

  7. I went pickup shopping, while test driving one I drove it home and parked it in my garage. This thing was so big that I would have had to restructure my garage and still once it was in, I'd have to shimmy around it to get in and out. What a pain.

I drove to a Ford dealership and test drive the smaller Sport Trac, hated it. The sales guy talked me into taking the Edge out.

Needless to say, I now own the Edge.

Just bought it from a different dealer.

  8. I see a lot of women in my area driving pick-ups, explorer's, even hummer's. So I'm not sure what is a guy/girl car anymore? Though I'm pretty sure the new mustangs are girl cars.

I've not yet had the urge to put on pantyhose while driving my edge but if it ever comes to that I have my motorcycle to fall back on and regain some testosterone.

Drive what you like and screw'em if they don't like it.

  9. Been there, done that :banghead:

Pulling the fuse will not fix the problem. When the dealer did my upgrade (2nd time) the Nav and i stuff didn't work either when the tech first finished. Luckily I caught it before I left.

The dealer will have to install the 2 missing items. The tech doing mine had to contact Ford and they walked him through the procedure. The Tech told me that the Ford tech he talked to had been doing this a lot lately and was real familiar with the problem. So call the dealer and have them contact Ford so they will know what to do. The tech installed the items from a USB flash drive and it did not take too long to do it after he found out what to do.

It really is disappointing that Ford and the dealers still haven't got this procedure worked out. I had mine upgraded in December 2010 and 2 months later they are still having the same problem.

Reading that, I count myself lucky my dealer seems to have a clue and got it right the first time.
