  1. Personally I really don't care if they ever make the pictures work from my iPhone, I know what my wife and brother and others who I may have a photo of on the phone look like and I really don't need to be looking at that instead of the road.

Now I would like it if the phone worked with the texting feature. A bit disappointed when I found out that wouldn't function but certainly not enough to dissuade me from enjoying my vehicle.

  2. Here is the problem if I receive the PIN lets say tomorrow can I just hold on to it till delivery in May or do I have to contact the person who would be giving it to me in May? Which actually could be rather hard since its through a friend's friend of the family.

I never had anyone ask me for the PIN, when I told them I got x-plan through my work, they just gave me the price. I ended up though moving forward with and having my dealer match zag pricing from Bank of America. It was better pricing than I was being given for x-plan.

  3. After doing this update this morning, I find MFT to be much snappier. Quicker on the response. I tried skipping from song to song to song on my usb drive and it never missed a beat, switching each time quickly. I'm not used to that. I was more used to it hanging a bit and it never hung once on me. The nav display is just as snappy and quick to update.

  4. I did the update and confirmed it, twice just to be sure. This is what it shows I've confirmed but it's still telling me that update is available.

  5. Some versions of the 2011 Ford F-150, Lincoln MKX and Ford Edge are being recalled for a problem with body control modules. Those modules keep check on systems from oil pressure to air conditioning, and in this case, a common module is shared between the front- or all-wheel-drive crossovers and the pickup truck.

In the recall--campaign ID #10V659000--the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says some 14,737 Ford and Lincoln vehicles are affected. The agency reports that, for a six-day period, defective body-control modules were installed in the vehicles, leading to a possible internal short. The electrical short could cause overheating and fire.

The recall also includes heavy-duty F-Series manufactured during the same period.

The recall begins on January 10. Owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 to find out if their vehicle is affected.

  6. Things shouldn't have to always be idiot proofed. There should be less idiots.

I would think that every dealership has a guy/gal who maintains their website these days. I would further think that person(s) would be able to assist the technology challenged staff that may exist at your particular dealership with these types of upgrades, if nothing more than to walk them through the first couple to acclimate them to the process.

  7. I've been putting off my update also. I've been getting used to not having the iPhone audio (usb or BT). It's times when I have the driver seat try to squeeze me through the steering wheel that I wished I had scheduled it to be done again (first attempt at update was a failure)

I called my service dpt yesterday to schedule only to find out the tech is in Philly for the holidays. I hope he can make it back to Kansas soon!

I asked the Sync project manager (last week's on-line chat) about the issues with the update. He said there were problems with the delivery of the update and they have resolved them.

Get the update, it's worth the hassle.

The only thing I'm still trying to figure out is how to get the browse function to show me the album covers like I saw in the vid on the ford site. All I can see to get from either the bluetooth or the usb is an alphabetic listing?

  8. Just got my 2011 Sport AWD. First domestic after owning several German/Japanese cars, coming off a G35. So far so good. The AWD works great. You can watch power distribution and under spirited acceleration from standstill in dry weather it distributes power to both rear and front for a nice linear feel.

I'm a RWD guy and was a little nervous about going FWD. The AWD makes it feel better. I think you'll be satisfied. I probably won't see much snow down here, although we will be in the Tenn mountains over Christmas so we'll see!

    Good luck!

I've been in vehicles with front wheel for years and years now. I opted only for FWD on my new Edge as I see no real need for AWD. FWD has served me very well. Granted I don't live in a place that gets feet of snow, just inches, but so far in up to 8 inches FWD serves my needs.

  9. As I just picked up my Edge Saturday evening, I took it back today to get the window tinting put on. While it was there I had them update the software to the gen 2. I hadn't had it long enough to notice a lot of issues but it was sluggish in response to button presses and trying to sync the bluetooth music from my iphone was hit and miss, more miss than hit. Since the update today it's much snappier in response to button presses and the bluetooth issue seems to be cleared up.
