  1. This is slightly off topic, but I was wondering how do you get the MPG and number of gallons used to display on the trip tracker? Is this a feature only certain models (i.e. 2011 or AWD) have? Mine just shows the elapsed mileage and timer.

It's under: Settings > something > gauges > enhanced gauges

  2. I just completed a trip this weekend and was able to get 26mpg, which I think was due to not having the A/C compressor on at all. I've done this trip many times before and usually get around 22mpg while leaving the climate controls on "auto." Does the compressor really cause this much drag?

edit: this was probably 50% at 70-75mph and 40% at 60-65mph and 10% stop and go.

  3. Anyone that follows CR is waisting their time. CR reports the best car by which company is willing to pay them the most. It has always been and will always be a joke.

I highly doubt they receive money. As far as their vehicle reviews go, they just strike me as uninformed non-auto-enthusiests who think that beige camrys with beige interiors are the best thing to ever come out of the automotive industry.

  4. Well there are still no reasons why, but Google confirmed it no longer will be available:

    Hi,

Thank you for recently reporting a problem with the Send-to-Car feature

for Ford or General Motors automobiles through Google Maps.

We can confirm that the Send-to-Car feature is no longer available for

Ford or GM vehicles, though it continues to be available for drivers of

    other makes.

    Cheers,

    The Google Maps team

  5. They think MyFordTouch is dangerous.

Exactly. I picture a bunch of old men at CR poking at the MFT screen saying, "Why do automakers need to use all this new fangled technology?! Back in my day we had huge knobs all over the dash and we liked it!!!"

As far as jittery and road noise are concerned, I have no idea where they came up with that. My Edge has been the smoothest and quietest vehicle I've ever owned and I love driving it on long trips. Maybe their hearing aids weren't adjusted properly that day.

  6. The best I've used, and continue to use, is Klasse All-in-one (in combination with Klasse Sealant, if you want to get fancy).

I've also got decent results from Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax, which is easier to come across and a little cheaper than Klasse, I think.

edit: you can get all of these on Amazon:

    Klasse AIO

    Klasse Sealant

Meguiar's NXT (you can most likely get this locally too)

  7. Sorry to hear that brother... I didn't really think the eCoBoost was going to be that impressive when reading about it for the Edge model to be honest. However, I am an avid fisherman and I boat quite often and I can tell you one thing.. Those eCoBoost motors in the F-150 are down out right nasty as hell.. I know guys who own them and not only are they getting 25MPG, they are getting that while towing a 23' Center Console Grady Whites with T-Tops and cruising at about 60MPH... Those F-150's are putting out some SERIOUS power with the Turbo motor... I think in this situation, the Turbo eCoBoost motors are more for power in towing and certain situations like that than they are for CUV's..

I completely agree. The 3.5L Ecoboost is an awesome motor, but it's a completely different animal. In my personal opinion, the 2.0L Ecoboost is just too small to efficiently push a large Edge through the air at 70+ mph efficiently, not to mention hills and whatnot. I'm sure it's perfectly capable of doing so but it's probably working too hard (i.e. it needs boost) to keep the heavy and relatively non-aerodynamic Edge at speed, which could be why the OP isn't seeing the excellent mileage he was expecting. I bet if the speed were kept down to 60mph or below, the mileage would be much better. And yes, I realize that 60mph isn't usually an option if you don't want to be a road hazard.
