  1. Internet tethering is not an option with later IOS...not sure if it was 4.1 or 4.2. Only option with current IOS is Personal Hotspot which is what SYNC was trying to accomplish. I have not had any success in connecting SYNC to Personal Hotspot.
  2. Not sure about price but you will be waiting until Aug/Sep for a 2012. Were in Canada are you? Did you search dealer inventory around you for the configuration you are looking for? I know the dealer I purchased from (north Toronto) seems to have many Edge's in stock....at least when you search their inventory on line.
  3. I have seen many AWD on dealer lots since I picked mine up in March. The link below indicated the AWD orders are built out for 2011 model year. This came out in early March. http://www.donlen.com/production-cars-ford.aspx
  4. Ford mats are nice but poor coverage and not appropriate for winter protection.
  5. Sorry cal3thousand for the confusion. Yes, completely agree with doing the homework. I spent weeks if not months doing mine. My point was to simply spell out the details on the purchase to try and help others. There are too many variable in the purchase of any car so the details help make an educated decision.
  6. I completely agree with all points livestrong16 has made. When trying to figure out what others have paid, we should always compare to list price and spell out included options, extended warranty, etc. Here is Canada, there are about $6-7K worth of options you can add to a 2011 Limited so when livestrong16 compares his $4K savings on his Limited to the SEL, we are still not sure what he paid. Like anything else, you never want to overpay. Dealers may but a dumb on but they are fully aware of all incentives going and are bring them out as you negotiate wheather or not you are aware of them. Incentives change from month to month but for the most part, the bottom line ends up being the same. For me, I calculated paying 15% off list after it was all said and done. I was happy with that and the whole purchase process was actually fairly painless. To achive this, I did a 2 year lease pro-rated paying 80% up from with no payments and 20% due in 2 years. This was a option I was not aware of but offered in the negotiating process.
  7. Sorry, the Costco I was refering to was a $1000 rebate for Costco members in Canada. Nobody every figured out the relationship between Costco and Ford and the relevance of this rebate but it seemed to attract a lot of buyers.
  8. Don't get me wrong, always understand what incentives are available and work for you. Dealer invoice price is readily available today and if you ask, the dealer should willingly tell you. Remember there are back end incentives for dealers, especially for high volume dealers, so you may have better negotiating room with a high volume dealer. Incentives aside, I think we should gage what we paid for our Edges against MSRP with explanation of course. A recent example, two friends of mine purchased identical Escapes within 2-3 months of each other from the same dealer. One received a better price but a higher financing rate, the other paid more but got a better interest rate and a trip to Vegas. In the end and over the term of the financing, price worked out the same. Although I purchased an Edge, I did better than they did based on MSRP. There were other incentives for both, such is trade in your ride and Costo rebate (Canada only). I went in knowing what I was willing to pay based on my research, much of it from this site, and worked with the dealer to get there. I was not hung up on incentives and coupons because in the end, they were all applied. I ended up in a two year lease with small buy out in two years...an option and loop hole the dealer offered that I was not aware of. Did I overpay? Maybe but I am comfortable with what I paid. I never received a straight answer on what I should pay from anyone, including this site. The focus with most when purchasing seems to be the incentives not the actual purchase price.
  9. I have noticed this as well especially when it is sittting in the garage in accessory mode. It does go away after a few minutes. I believe others have made note of this and it seems to be normal.
  10. Seems no one really wants to tell you exactly what they paid for their Edge. Off course there are many factors involved. Here in Canada incentives, packaging and MSRP are different than in the US. To keep it simple, I like to look at it as what percentage off list did I get. X pricing coupons and insentives aside, I paid roughly 15% off list Canadian list price for what I wanted. It was a factory order, delivery in just over 4 weeks, and was what I thought a fair price. Dealers have many tricks up their sleeves and when negotiating, I alway go with the out the door price which includes tax, licensing, rust proofing, extended warranty, etc. This site, along with some other information out there helped me determine this was a realistic fare price and made the process almost painless.

    Oil Change

I got free oil changes for life. Dealer told me see you in 6 months or 10K kms when I picked it up. I don't think that is unreasonable for light to normal driving with today's engines. I average 12K kms a year so that works for me.
  12. Yes....great mod....Thank You! I practiced using a spare piece of foam board I had laying around and spayed glued a .49 cent piece of black felt on it. Looks and fits great and believe it or not, I think the foam board covered in felt is more than durable enough. I will enventually make it out of wood.
  13. My Edge was built in March and came with v2.7. So far out side of a little lag at start up, all seems to work fine, including clock/calendar and BLIS.
  14. I think we are all trying to figure this out. The only obvious change is a redesign on the mirrors to correct wind noise issues. I'm sure there are other minor fixes/corrections/enhancements that will enventually be discovered but Job#2 would desirable if you had a choice.
  15. I still see quite a few Jobs#1's in dealer inventory. Dealer stock pickings for Limted AWD are slim. Job #2 started around the end of January and from what I can figure, VIN ending lower than A80000 are Job #1.
  16. I have the BLIS and think it worth it. Of course I still check when changing lanes but after driving an Escape for years the Edge has a larger blind spot so the BLIS really helps. In Canada the adaptive cruise control is a $1500 option. I do not do a lot of highway driving so could not justify the spend. Do you know if the Edge they found for you is a Job #2?
  17. Check out the link below...Ford production updates...looks official to me and confirmed by my dealer when I picked up my Edge last week. Link originally posted by computerdude60 (thanks). Edge updated on the AWD in the link was around March 11th. I know because this is what prompted me to call my dealer for a VIN 2 weeks ago. My link
  18. I think your dealer may have got your order in before the deadline which I believe was around March 11th for AWD orders. I will try to find the link. My dealer confirmed this to me when I picked my 2011 AWD limited up a week ago. Although it has been only a week, I am loving my Edge so far. I am not experiencing any of the issues some members have been having with MFT although there is a bit of lag. I don't know if you are an iphone user but I would compare the lag to an iphone 3GS after using a 4G. Maybe Job 2 has made some improvements to the MFT?
  19. Got the call from the dealer today....it has arrived! Pick it up in less than 48 hours. Ordered Feb 19, arrived today. That was just over 4 weeks! I think I just made the AWD cut off as the window sticker date is 03 08 11. Looks like the dealer has good allocation as they also received a couple of AWD sports in their inventory.
  20. I checked snycmyride and it is confirmed...see below. I ordered the Limited AWD in Blue with all options except for 20" wheels, adavitve cruise control and DVD. I wasn't expecting it for at least another month but panicked when I read that the factory is not accepting any more AWD orders for this model year and called the dealer. Will let you know if it show up next week. Confirmed Installations SYNC Version Gen2 - V2.7 BT4T-14D546-AL BT4T-14F496-AN BT4T-14F497-AL SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F500-AE BT4T-14F603-AL
  21. After reading this thread this morning, I called my dealer to check the status of my Limited AWD factory order. Ordered it 2/19/11. Got the VIN, built 03/08/11 and expected at the dealer 03/21/11 give or take a few days. That was quick, a good month before I expected!
  22. Ordered my 2011 Edge last week! Reading up on this forum has really helped in the process. Thought I would share in detail what I paid as it could help others. This was ordered in Toronto. 2011 Edge Limited AWD Kona Blue Order Code 220A (Canada) Vision Package Cargo Package Driver Entry Canadian Touring Package Engin Block Heater Rubber Floor Mats Back-Lit Door Sills Towing Pacakage HID Headlamps Hood Deflector Options I DID NOT order 20" Wheels DVD Family Entertainment Package Adaptive Cruise Control List ~ $46900 (includes freight, A/C Tax) + HST = $53000 Added: Dealer rust proof (not a big fan but negotiation factor) 7yr/80K $50 deductible, first day rental Have 2 cars in the familiy so milage will be low.
