  1. Hi ishredthecello

When you had your rims refinished - how did they turn out? Did they lacquer the whole wheel, and how did they do with the black inserts - so far I've just had my wheel curb rash buffed out to bare metal, but the patches don't match the rest of the rim.

    Mitch

  2. So has anyone actually damaged there 22'' polished aluminiums, had them repaired so that they look brand new. I scratched both my rear wheels in one day in a rather dark multistory carpark/parking lot where the curbs where ridiculously tight. I had them smoothed to the bear metal at a body shop, so that they're not that noticeable at first glace, but as has been pointed out- the color match is different. Plus - has anyone had the rim completely done bearing in mind the difficulty with the black inserts?
  3. I had mine for a little over a week (Sport 2011), I have no issues whatsoever - I love it and would obviously not sell back :happy feet:
  4. FAT 32 - no folders, all single tracks dropped straight onto HDD Give it a try
  5. Yes it works perfectly :happy feet: It must've taken about 45 minutes to completely index - it seemed to be stuck at 2500 or so, I just ignored it, then after a while it said indexing complete, and then began building the voice command data for each track - I think that must've taken about 10 minutes (for the 11,000 tracks) I'm glad I spent the time yesterday properly tagging - I used a program Helium 8, which is an audio manager, it lets you tag by file name, I just went for the Artist first, then the song, but you can also add Album, track number, Album art if you want. The HDD is a Western Digital 500GB USB 2.0 - I deleted the handling software, so for all intense and purposes, it's just a generic storage device. Good luck
  6. I'll let you know tomorrow, I finished the tagging and connected it up for about half an hour - it was up to 2500 of 11,500 when I got bored of waiting, I left it connected so hopefully, it'll carry on syncing the rest. It didn't like the new HDD3.0, so I used an older 2.0 one, but still 500GB. Finger crossed
  7. I finally got my White 2011 Ford Edge Sport AWD yesterday - I've only driven it very briefly and have spotted none of the obvious problems (yet) Other than a slight scratch on the Speedo glass, and a couple of unsmooth leather work areas on the passenger seat, I've 100% satisfied. I knew living out here now that the Nav would be a no-go, but I still have my trusty Garmin (so don't really care) - the MFT and Sync seem fine - I'm guessing I have 2.8 since it was built in May/June and there's none of the infamous lag on mine. USB works fine! Speech recognition works very well with my British English accent to. A couple of differences I've noticed from what I was expecting (not necessarily hoping) is no privacy glass (it might have something to do with the tinting laws here, although, I notice older imports here do have the privacy glass. No matter, I've just put 3M 50% - looks great! (which is technically illegal here - 35% blocking is the max) on the sides and back and didn't have to worry about matching up. The mirrors are chrome not body colour, again, I had no preference so don't care. I've just bought WD 500G harddrive to transfer all my music, I'll spend today tagging the music properly so I can take advantage of the speech recognition (which I think is a fantastic feature). I post some photos later - but it's pretty much factory other than the tints. Future investments - Hids - not a fan of the yellowish glow - not with a white car! Clear windshield/screen film to keep the car cool - Dubai is basically a desert after all. This afternoon - I'll try and get my head around the keyless entry fob.
  8. Thanks for your reply - I bought a separate Garmin, and that will do just fine for now. Thanks for replying - Mitch.

  9. Hey Mitch, looks like I saw your message too late. I've got mine without satnav. I personally don't think its worth the extra $$ but thats a matter of choice. Mine is the Edge Limited in Bordeaux Red/Stone Interiors. So far really happy with it. Its a near perfect blend of comfort and power. Hope you enjoy yours once it arrives!

  10. Hi everyone. Been reading a multitude of your posts. Love the Forum, seems very much to be a mixture of people who love their Edges, lists of possible things that can go wrong and faults, and people with cool ideas on upgrading - all very interesting reading. I'm originally from England, but have worked in the US for a few years (North Carolina) but now live in Dubai UAE. I understand that the UK isn't selling the Edge, but I remembered it fondly from my time in NC. Here at the moment I have a Lancer, and was thinking of sticking with Mitsubishi, I've never had a problem with either of my two Lancers. However, I've always been found of Fords, I've had (UK models) a Cortina MK4, Sierra, Capri 2.0S and a little (but very reliable) Escort. Out here in Dubai, fuel is very cheap, and many locals and ex-pats are driving big 4x4s. I wandered into the Ford Showroom, and immediately fell in love with the newer Edge, particularly the Sports wheels. Initially, I couldn't make my mind up about colour, I was dithering between Silver and Blue, and even considered the Candy Red (normally, I would 'do' red cars.) One of the assistants took me underground to their storage where I could see what the colours really looked like from some Edges and Lincolns in stock - I settled for a white. Now, having seen pictures of people white Edge Sports - I know I made the right choice - gorgeous. Mine doesn't even enter the country until August, so plenty of time to think about what to do with it. I will definitely tint to two remaining side windows with 30% - but will hang fire with everything else. Locking nuts might be worth while, but I've not heard of anyone here ever having wheels stolen - it just doesn't happen here. I'm not quite sure about Navigation - I don't think it was an option here. The Middle East seems a little behind on that front - I'll play it by ear and might just settle for a portable Garmin. I'd prefer a TomTom, but their newly released maps for Dubai are very poor. Anyway, great furum :yup:
  11. Hey Stam. I'm also in Dubai and was wondering if you bother with satnav - did you get it with yours - if so - is it any good? I've ordered a Sport which should be arriving in August but didn't think about the Navigation too much in the showroom
