  1. There is also ALLDATA. It is a online manual. From Autozone. Acess is for one year $30.00
  2. I did have HID's installed on my 2008 Edge SEL AWD, and they where blinking on off and got worst very fast after install with in a week. So I went back to the person who did the install and they said that I had a signal going to the headlights. I have heared of this but never experienced this till now. they instaledl a resister ( the wiring came with two but they installed only one saying the two will smoke and get too hot ). I had to pay extra for the resister or what ever they called it. Yellow in color and 1 3/4 long plus 3/8 inch square aluminum housing looking like a heatsink! Not sure if resister is correct name ( capacitor or something else ) but describtion is close. This resister got hot about 150 degrees plus easily. while running HID's. But HID's work great now!! no problem heeheee. I ordered HID's for the FOG LIGHTS. Being I was told the same size bulb H11. Ebay and what a deal only 35$ for both. Although haven recieved them yet or installed them. Hope to finish post after install. Soooon. I was told fog light shouldn't need resister, I will finish post after install hehheeehee. I know some really like HID's like my self but other don't. this post is for those who do....and some insight. DAY LIGHT LIGHT TENDS TO BE about 55OO on the Kelvin scale, so 6000K bulbs are very close to daylight. I love the 6000k color almost white with a slight bluesh tint. The HID install is easier then I original thought, meaning acess to BULBS is very easy. So most will be able to do thier install easily. Just not sure about RESISTER ( CAPACITOR OR WHAT EVER THEY CALL IT ). And Signal Going to lights?? I did finially get HID's installed in the fog lights, and they where a little tricky to get installed. Five 7/32 screws each side. Three in frount of each wheel turned outwards and two just under bumper from undernieth. Pull back wheel wells for easy acess to bulbs and ballast mounting locations. Drivers side was easily mounted a side ways frame member, Passenger side I mounted ballast to Horn bracket. Space was tighter on Passenger side. The HID's look great on the fog lights and now match my low beams. Just two things to mention. the fog lenses are a joke and actually take away from the performance of the HID's greatly. Second it was a plug and play install not needing a relay or any other items, just ballast and bulbs. They Passenger side also needed a extension that came with my kit to mount ballast higer up. My kit was brought on Ebay, $40.00 delivered. Yes you read that right.
  3. Hi, this Topic is to help others who might be thinking of installing their own Parking sensors for the rear. I just installed mine in the rear bumper but didn't do my wiring yet. I had to remover the rear bumper cover five screws in wheel well each side, two on bottom of wheel well where mud flaps are visible from underneith, each side! about three clips under rear lamp housing visible and easily removed by pushing up on bumper cover or using a flat screw driver each side. Plus about seven visible screws where rear gate hatch is ( two large and the rest plastic push in type ). Also one dead center underneith the bumper between the two rear flat mufflers. finally two heaver push type just under the rear lamp housing ( one each side ) I used a Panel pry tool from Autozone $ 10 dollars and was very helpfull gauging pressure not to break any parts. I didn't brake any because of using this tool. Bumper cover will come off now!! You will see four factory circles where sensors should be installed saving you time using these if you are using a kit of four, I am. YOU SHOULD PRE-DRILL PILOT HOLE FROM INSIDE, BUT USE HOLE SAW FROM OUTSIDE!! This way you will get a cleaner professional look. I made the mistake of drilling with hole saw from inside and will have to touch up bumper. Oil based caulking is recomended helping hold sensors in place. Mines had lips on them, I put lips on top position since my sensors where almost maxed out height wise at 64cm or 24 inches. aiming them straight back and downward. Then I used some zip ties loosely to hold wires in place inside bumper where painted and black parts meet, there's loops there that came in handy. finally I have wires coming out of bumper were passenger side rear lamp screws are. just out side of where rubber molding is. Tomorrow I hope to find a clean install area inside rear cargo area and finish this post. Removing the rear lights ( lamps ) where not very difficult. just two screws each one and pry slowly towards back of vehicle. this helped me see thouse two heavy push type fasteners just underneith holding the bumper. I spent One Hour and a Half just doing this part, with out finishig the electrical hook up yet. ( tomorrow ). Probably another Hour just taking time and care to finish a clean install. I brought my four sensor system on Ebay $ 50 bucks. And it comes similar to factory in looks and operation. No dispay, just audible beeps! And no hassle having to mount wires to frount of cabin. I couldn't find any where listing amount of screws, and or locations. So I decide to Post this for others. TODAY: I finished the wiring easy enough green/black being ground and wire with red on it being 12 volt supply. I connected a T connector to 12 volt supply and plugged in. Top bulb was reverse bulb. Ground was on inside panel ( black panel ) just above rear lamp housing. there is a actual ground there 8mm head. I drilled a hole about Half inch or a bit bigger just under passenger lamp mounting hardware on body to pass sensor wires to inside vehicle. there was a inch square openning helping me to pass wires inside and to a big square auxiliary open compartment just waiting for me and my control box plus wires and speaker. The Square compartment is on the Passenger side the side I was working on. I just drilled a hole on top to make acess point less vissible. I didn't have a gromet to use where I inserted wires through body so I used caulking, Oil based. And Wala after testing all works fine, no problems just more time then expected. 2.5 to 3 Hour install, this is a good time starting point for most of us. Pros do this for a living and will spend much less time. I'm not a pro. I'm a amature like most of us here.
  4. HI, I just purchased a used 2008 Edge and I'm using Ravelco, but still wanted a bit more. I wanted to layer my security set up. This is apparently what is recommenced. Layering or using more then one system. I wanted to stop all amatures with a normal alarm and most importantly get a inexpensive 2-way system to alert me of any would be crooks. I found the Viper 3203 at best buy this weekend for only $ 75.00 not sure if others will be able to find the deal I did. But the bad news is with installation and de-activating the factory alarm, plus tax, I had to Pay $ 267.00 Total wich might not be so bad for a professionally installed 2-way Viper system. this system is also upgradable and has a 2000 foot range instead of 1500. I will later post some more info on this forum and my own website but i haven't had time to take my photos and make my review of my Edge, Ravelco and Viper yet, hehee. I live in Jersey and brought mine at Best Buy in Rockaway Mall or Complex on New Hope Ave. Rockawy NJ
  5. Nice Job with your own origiallity, very well done and tasteful.
  6. HI Every one, I am new here and to Forums. So I don't have any real experience with writing topics. I think some others might find this discussion interesting. Ravelco kill switch. I really like it and just had it installed on my recently purchased 2008 Edge SEL AWD. I also had it installed on my 99 F150 for four years before trading it and never once did it fail me or give me any kinds of problems or issues what so ever. I know that these kits are available on Ebay for less then $100 dollars. But I truely believe that having it professional installed makes all the difference and I paid twice to have it professionally installed first on F150 and now just last week on my recently purchased 2008 Edge. I paid $450 with tax and professional install by Ravelco installer here in New Jersey. This was the same person who did my install four years ago (Chuck). took him almost four hours for each install. I just wanted others feedback on their systems they use and why, I believe most other will have much more experience then my self, but the idea of this topic is to show others what kind of systems are out there letting them make the chioce for themselves. Pros: amost impossible to hot wire, crocks don't have time to figure out wiring if they can even find them. vehicle would have to be towed then figured out. wire comes out factory and Ravelco installer uses same wiring diagram Manufacture uses. Very easy to use and you don't leave switch in vehcel where it can be found. Ton of combination of switch keys and pin combinations. No issues with any electronic problems such as controls (computer), wiring, shorts, dead batteries, or even worse the crook steals your ride and disables your system. this would include disabling recovery systems also. like lojack, I don't know about lojack by OnStar can be easily defeated just by removing the antena! or would you rather recieve your vehicle back after the crocks are done taking what they want off of it, if you even get it back? I didn't pay full coverage with my insurance even though they tried to tell me or insist that I had to. they said because I have a loan that I would have to pay full coverage. I beleve that is correct if the vehicle is under THREE years old. So for the second time I am saying on insurance. Pay for the Ravelco System and Professional Install. Time and Time again as long as I own this vehicle and I believe that will be for a very long time. Cons: any vehicle can be towed. you will need to remember to remove your switch or have some device that connects car keys and switch such as a cable of some kind. In four years with my F150 I did forget a few times to remove key and tug my keys when I get in and out of car to check, my personal reminder. I do hope to post pictures later for all those who might be interested but I haven't taken any yet possibly in the next few weeks.
