    Intro

I ordered mine at the end of February and it arrived exactly 10 weeks from the date I placed my order.
  2. I was one of the ones who had my 2012 order canceled last month. Last week I received a $750 rebate via email, so I finally decided to order my 2013. I was able to lock in the $750 plus another $1,000 in rebates that is currently available. I still lost out on another $750 in rebates that I had when I ordered my 2012, but in the end, my 2013 only cost me $570 more than the 2012. I paid $6755 below MSRP, which includes a trade-in of my 2002 Escape with $118K. Now I just hope the next two months go fast! I hate waiting! 2013 SEL AWD - Ruby Red
  3. I'm in the same boat. I ordered mine on 12/10/11 and found out on 1/10/12 that my order had been canceled. The dealer did manage to find me one exactly the same as the one that I had ordered - but it had a front license plate bracket. Luckily I was smart enough to think about that, so I kindly declined. Like you, I don't want to spend $35K on something that isn't exactly what I want. I didn't want to look at that stupid front bracket every day for the next X number of years hating it. They gave me the option to order a 2013, but it would have cost me $1620 more becuase I was losing the rebates I had locked in too. I've started seeing commercials for our local auto show which is offering a $1000 rebate. I called my dealer on Saturday to say that if that rebate was available, then I would order the 2013 at $620 more than my original price. He told me he didn't think that would be a problem, but was told that they don't usually order cars on Saturday, but would get back to me Monday (yesterday). Well, it's now mid-day on Tuesday and I haven't heard from him yet. I'm guessing that's not a good sign. I'm debating how long to wait before calling him back. At this point, I'm curious how long it will be before he calls me back. My Dad ordered an Explorer through this salesman/dealership last February, so we have experience with this dealership, but I'm really getting fed up at this point. On my own, I found a dealership about 2 hours away that has one ordered that is basically whatt I want, but includes the towing package. If things don't work out with my dealership, I may be making a road trip.
  4. I'm currently driving a 2002 Escape and have been debating what my next vehicle would be all year. I knew a new Escape was coming, but was trying to decide what my back-up choice would be if I didn't like it's new look. Well, turns out, I don't like the new look, so I knew an Edge was in my future. I planned on waiting until the spring to buy one, but they were offering $2500 in rebates at the end of year, so I figured it couldn't get any better than that, so on 12/10/11 I bit the bullet and ordered myself a 2012 Ford Edge SEL. I was told it would take 8-10 weeks to arrive. Of course, a couple weeks later, I learned the 2013 would start being built in mid-February, about the time I was expecting mine to arrive. Well today, one-month to the day I ordered my Edge, I got a call from my salesman, calling with good news and bad news. I immediately knew the bad news meant that they weren't going to make my new Edge, even though my dealer had placed the order and Ford had accepted it. The good news was that they found me the exact one that I ordered, but it had already transferred to one dealership, so by the time it gets to my dealership it will have about 170 miles on it - no big deal really. I asked about negotiating my original purchase price since the 2013s would be arriving soon, and was told they would stand by their original price, but couldn't budge because they aren't offering $2500 in rebates now, but would make up the difference, plus they'll have additional costs due to getting the car from the other dealership, about 80 miles away. I'm wondering if this hiccup in my order is providing me with the opportunity to buy a 2013 instead. They ran the numbers for me, and while the MSRP will be $120 more, in the end, the 2013 will cost me $1,620 more because of the lost rebates. Do you think it's worth it just to get the current model? My other problem is, I ordered the Red Candy, which won't be available in 2013. It will be Red Ruby instead. I'm not sure I like the idea of getting a different color, sight unseen. Of course, now that I've written this all out, I think I've arrived at my decision, but still curious on your thoughts.
