  1. What is the best place and best price that everyone has come up with for the OEM Edge bumper protector with the 'Edge' embossed on it? I am ready to order one, but hopefully you can help me find the best price and website. Thanks.
  2. I have a standard size garage door opening height which I believe is around 7 foot. When we pull our Edge in the garage the back end is no more than a foot from the edge of the door. The power-lift gate opens perfectly with about 1 1/2" - 2" of clearance between the lift gate and the door above. So as long as we pull "in" the garage completely the lift gate will open no problem. However, if we were ever to pull in only part way into the garage the 'peak' of the lift gate would foul with the 7 foot opening of the garage door. I hope this helps, but you should have no problems with a standard size garage as long as you are careful and don't back out with the lift gate open. Ouch!
  3. You did remember to add SYNC, right? As this comes standard on the Limited. Also, you may want to ask your dealer to special order your Edge with the Painted Aluminum wheels. Someone else on this forum did that and saved the $750 that the Chrome Clad wheels usually run off the base price of the Limited (since they are standard). I do think however you are missing some items or else it would be quite a bit more of a difference when comparing exact builds of SEL's to the Limited. Show us what you've got and we can do some research for you.
  4. I have the Blackberry Curve and seem to have no issues with connection or making calls. Have you followed the SYNC manual step-by-step for pairing a device and making phone calls? Can you give us better explanation of the process you go through and where you lose connection?
  5. Welcome to the Forum! That's a great looking Edge. That looks very similar to my wife's Black Limited, but I've seen the dark blue in person and it's a sweet color.
  6. Ordered ours on Oct. 9th and showed up at the dealer 5 weeks later (Nov. 13th). It is an '08 Limited with Vista Roof. I would imagine since the winter months are typically slow for dealerships that you could receive your ordered Edge fairly quickly.
  7. As of the last 5 days, I have had the same issue. Only the traction control light comes on for mine, but this light will come on and stay on even right after start-up. Every other day or so, the light will go off and stay off for certain periods of time, but it seems to resurface occasionally. There seems to be no ryhme or reason to the light coming on. I took it out on our snow-packed neighborhood streets this weekend and tried to break it loose a few times to see if it was actually engaging the traction control or if it was damaged. Seemed to engage, but it was very difficult to fish-tail the AWD so I could barely tell the difference between traction control on or off. Even after breaking it loose a few times, the light stayed off and would only come on after I turned traction control off (which is the way it should work). I called the dealer and he told me that they have had many of the same complaints. He said that the vehicle may be trying to "learn" the driving habits of the driver and just need to work out the kinks of the new vehicle. Mine only has about 600 miles so he said to drive it a few more days and if the light continues to come on and stay on then bring it in to get checked out. Is this a typical problem for many Edge owners? The only common pattern for the light coming on seems to be the temperature outside. On the really cold days we've had it seems to be on, but on the warmer days the light stays off. Any thoughts here???
  8. Those are the 18" Premium Chrome Clad 6-spoke wheels which were available for only a short time at the end of the 2007 model production as an option in lieu of the original 18" chrome clad wheels. They are not available for the '08's as they went back to only offering the original 18" chrome wheels which come standard on the Limited.
  9. Ordered our Edge Limited (with Panoramic Roof) on 10/9 and it just showed up this Tuesday 11/13 which made it 5 weeks on the nose. Dealer was surprised as was I, but I'm glad it came early!
  10. NYEdge, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I don't really want an alarm system, just the remote start with some of the features you mention above. I would like to spend $200 or less including the labor for installation. Any other recommendations for nice aftermarket systems around this price range?
  11. Thanks for the advice from both of you. I will probably go with the Ford system, and it sounds like there's not much to it. Just a starter, that's it. So your heated seats don't turn off automatically when the car shuts off? They will be on again when you start it back up? That's kind of a bad design if you ask me. I can understand the HVAC system but not the heated seats.
  12. I pulled the attached picture and caption below from the Ford website. The center two wheels are the exact same wheel, but the one on the right has the chrome cladding. So if you removed your chrome cladding, the wheel on the left-center of the picture would be your wheel. *Four wheel design choices (from left to right): optional 18” 6-spoke aluminum chrome-clad, optional 18” painted aluminum, optional 18” aluminum chrome-clad, and standard 17” painted aluminum.
  13. There we go, that answers it! Since you are friends with the owner, I can see why you get special perks. I too am friends with a Chevy dealer owner who cut me a sweet deal on my '07 Tahoe. I basically paid the KBB invoice price for my Tahoe and nothing else (except taxes obviously). He was able to waive all D&H and advertising fees. That was why I was a little upset with these charges from the Ford dealer. I guess we get spoiled in some departments, but it catches up with us somewhere else. I still feel pretty good about my purchase of the '08 Limited for close to invoice. I'm sure they make a lot more money off some of the other Edges on their lot.
  14. So I ordered my wife's '08 Limited last week, but I'm truly disappointed that Remote Start does NOT come as a factory installed option. For all the additions that Ford made to the 2008's, I'm surprised that Remote Start was not one of them. I am curious as to how the dealer-installed remote start functions and the advantages to getting this one over an aftermarket kit. I would like for it to perform the same functions as my '07 Tahoe's remote start does. It first recognizes the outside temperature, then if it's cold outside it turns on the heated seats and blasts hot air from the vents (regardless of the last setting when the vehicle was turned off). If it's hot outside, it blasts the A/C's freezing cold air (also regardless of last setting). Does the dealer-installed remote start function in this manner? If not, could someone please give me a brief summary of it's features. Also, the dealer's cost is $230+labor, which seems a little steep to me. I have found the same kit for $193 on the following website... http://www.partscheap.com/edge07.htm I would probably still have the dealer install it for me, but this would save me almost $40. Is this system worth the price or is there others out there that have the same features for less money? Please share your experiences and knowledge. Thanks!
  15. According to Kelley Blue Book, your vehicle invoices for $33,721. This includes AWD Limited with Nav and Vista roof as the only options. This price also includes the destination charge of $705. Therefore, they have offered to sell you an '08 Limited right at invoice. Like some others have said, be careful when you sign the final paperwork because I have a hard time believing they don't have any Dealer & Handling or advertising fees. I just ordered my '08 Limited at invoice but there was a $470 local (may change per area) advertising fee that the dealer said is included on top of the invoice pricing you can obtain online. Plus they charged me $490 Dealer & Handling fees which are basically to allow the salesman some profit, IMO. I was extremely upset when they threw the advertising fee at me, but I can live with the D & H fee. So basically, if I get $1000 rebate near X-mas time, I will get my Edge at Invoice after rebates and before taxes. Not bad considering these are hot items right now and the 2008's haven't even hit the lots yet here.
