  1. Within the last couple of months, I have experienced a dead battery. No lights left on, no doors left open, no true cause for this. After a jump the edge cranks fine and operates fine. Another couple of weeks go by with no further, issue. Then it happens again. Jump it again and I have my shop check the battery. Test shows the battery is charging fine. Personally I call B*******. So I just get a new battery. Since the new battery I haven't had another issue with starting. However, there is something odd. This is a 2010 limited. The backlit screens that show the radio frequencies and the area where the trip recorder and other data is shown, it fades out to a dull light. At times they are as bright as the backlit light of the AC/Heater system light, and then they fade to a dull light and at one time faded out to nothing at all. Couldn't tell what frequecy or mileage or anything read. Has anyone ever experienced this? Naturally it behaves this way just after the warranty expires. This happened prior to the battery change and they are still dim now afte the new battery. But my real thoughts are maybe since the battery has now been changed, that there is some method of syncing all the electrical system and such with a series of key twists, pedal pumps, on/off's, and maybe a dance move or two while sticking out my tongue will correct the issues without me having to go to a local dealer. Thoughts?
  2. This is a good forum full of helpful people. Congrats on the new edge and enjoy the site!
  3. Congrats on the purchase. It's a great ride and I hope you guys enjoy it. you'll love this forum. I replaced my filter with a K&N too. Still waiting to get the windows tinted
  4. Personally, I like your ride. The paint finish looks more like a satin finish than a flat finish. There still seems to be a sheen to it and I think you did a great job. My husband has black rims on his truck and allot of people gave him crap about it because it wasn't the thing to do when he got it. Funny how so many are going to the black wheels now. He just sits back and grins. Nice job on your Edge. It looks cool. I prefer my shine for mine but still like yours too.
  5. Right there with you Igcitng. I don't fit the old, young, taxi, grocery ride thing either. I wanted to ride in style, haul the things I need a play! I would like to make some modifications but not that many as I like the edge as it is. I saw some guy trick out his exhaust and to each his own but I can't imagine taking my ride and trying to make it sound like a weak A** 4 banger! A few cosmetic or lighting modification parts would be sweet though. My husband basically sold me on this ride while I was searching. We have access to parts for just about anything at deep discounts, so all I have to do is say, Hey babe, I was thinking this would be cool on our Edge and he handles the rest. Turns out sweet everytime! He loves this ride just as much as I do and we both have a blast driving it. He does put it to some harder tests than I do, but it's all good. Still looks like allot of madificaitons for the edge will be fabrications though. Looking forward to seeing more input on this thread.
  6. OMG! I know what you mean on the color. I have a cinnamon colored edge. Like a dark brown that reflects a little red and it's just dark enough to make me a tad OCD on the cleaning! LOL Love the picks. You are so going to love that ride.
  7. Her used SUV was a rental so there are several scuff marks on the plastic surfaces in the rear. The interior is the light tan/beige. So is mine and I have some interior cleaner products but even on one of the scuff marks in mine, it doesn't help to remove it. Thoughts?
  8. I dig that tent option too. Not sure how often I would use it but it would remove the need to close the hatch and then I could hang my feet off the end of the mattress if I am too long. Been to a couple of all nighter parties that having that tent or mattress option in a vehicle like this would have saved me from sleeping upright on someones couch or on a hard floor. I wonder about the rear lights when the hatchis open though. Might need a quick disconnect r something programmed to shut out or I could face battery drain.
  9. I have read allot of information on how to detail the exterior and take car of leather but I would like to get some feedback on cleaning and detailing the interior. My best friend just got a used Ford and it has cloth seats. The dealer "shampooed" the seats and carpet so they claim but they did a subpar job n my opinion. The vehicle smells like smoke and has some stains on the seats and carpet. Does anyone here have any recommendations for cleaning these materials or how to get the smoke smell out of or off of the surfaces without damaging it any further?
  10. Edgieguy - I also thought about creating the template and cutting me some memory foam to use but I guess where I have issue it storing it while driving to and fro. Good ideas so far. My husband and I are both tall so I don't expect this to be something chosen more than not but I would like to prepare for the option if needed. Keep any thoughts and suggestions coming! Thanks guys
  11. Well the "deflated" measurement of the coleman suv air bed is 77"x44"x6". But it has a second chamber kind of like a head pillow portion. I feel like it will be too long but just might be just right width wise (inflated of course). I measured the narrowest section of the cargo area and I think there will be no issue. But may have to roll the head section up to close the deck lid if weather is bad. I understand about the young ones. I just don't want to deal with bulky memory foam or pads and thing when this air matress rolls up it is 18" x 12" and that is a perfect storing size.
  12. OK so, now that I have the Edge, I wonder .... How many of you have camped overnight in your edge? My husband went on a bird hunting trip and took the edge. When he got to where his buddies were staying he realized he was slightly ill-equipped for sleeping arrangements. But HEY, he could sleep in the edge. There was room. Well .. the poor guy ached all over the next day as he had no blanket, pillow or overall comfortable place to lay. The floor is just not ideal obviously. So I been checking out the idea of an air mattress we can use. I found Coleman has a specific SUV air mattress that just might fit perfectly. It's rather inexspensive too. They offer a 12v DC power pump you hook up to your powerport (just so happen to have that in the back cargo area! Nice!). So I am wondering, have any of you guys used an air mattress or anything of the sort for this purpose? They have those SUV tents. Have any of you ever used those? I like the fact that the Coleman air mattress rolls up to a very storable size that can be kept in the car. Just figure it might be a nice addition for those "just in case" moments. Any feedback is appreciated.
  13. So I have been wondering if I can swap out the rear tail lights on my 2010 model edge for the lights on the 2011? The new tail lights on the 11 models have amber turn signals which I prefer. Anyone know if they would fit?
  14. Got my ride back today!!! Looks great. A little body work to get it back in shape, little refinishing and some clear coat and my wonderful ride looks great! They handled my rental car, repair and all is well. I feel better and do appreciate the input from you guys! After my rental ..... I am certain the Edge has spoiled me rotten!!!!
  15. First, there should be a warranty from the repair facility for the work they performed. The estimate provided to the insurance company should have beenbased on the repairs deemed needed but there are provisions for an adjustment if the repair facitly properly documents the new findings on the vehicle. There is LOADS of leverage with regards to the check endorsement. I would recommend you pay a visit to the repair shop, take photographs of the affected areas and then point them out to the dealerhship and ask them about their warranty policy on the repairs and if the possible underlying damage can also be repaired and sent bak to the insurance company to notify them of further damage not detected upon the initial inspection.
  16. Congrats on the Edge. I completely disagree with LetstryaFord. I have my edge in the shop for a little body work right now and I am telling you the waiting to get it back is killing me. I miss it. My rental just flat out sucks and I can't wait to get my ride back. I have only had mine two months and I am seriously spoiled rotten! I really like your option package and sure hope you enjoy it when it gets to you! Welcome to the group friend.
  17. Daughter of N5IBP (silent key) two years now. Although, my local ARO group thought it would be a great idea for me to get my license and secure his call sign for myself, it's just not something I can keep up with at the moment. But, since your' on here, I have some gear remaining for any of you hammers that are interested. Private message me and I can let you know what I still have available. I have a few mobile antennas and plenty of other tuners, radios and odd and end parts and such that might can help! Welcome to the forum and congrats on the MKX 73, Cheryl
  18. I use the PARKING brake on this vehicle especially. My driveway has a slight grade to it and it helps eliminate the heavy lurch when not used. Bottom line is whether manual or automatic, it's a parking brake for a reason. Reduces the stress to the parking pawl, protects the transaxle, cv joints and transmission. I think I will be checking the parking brake like you mention to see if it's loose, simply because I am leaning towards this being the reason for my chimes. Maybe I had released the parking brake but the sensor didn't detect a full release? This makes the most sense thus far. Right now it's in the shop getting some TLC from a body man. I really do appreciate all the input from you guys. I like this forum quite a bit. I dig the heck out of my Edge!!! Only been in the shop for less than a day and I miss it tremendously!
  19. No visible signs of impact on the wheel or tire
  20. I feel like this accident just produced some sheet metal and paint damage and not that much all things considered.
  21. The damage is truly not that bad inspite of what could have happened. A pinch in the fender well causing it to slightly bow and show some gapping where it meets the hood and a nice long scratch alond the bend of hte front bumper. Nevertheless, it's damage but hope to be repaired and completed by the end of the week!!!
  22. LOL ok, so I am just going to pretend that I answered the "since the accident" question with a " yes it happened once post accident a week later". There, I feel smarter. ha ha The vehicle history report shows all is clear also. I did check the parking brake. Depressed it and released it. My husband drove it today and then I just got back from an errand and no further chiming. The damage from the accident is so incredibly minimal, that it would shock me that the two are related. I am in the specialty vehicle business and am very familiar with impacted vehicles. I will post a couple of pics in a second. The chiming thing just seemed odd to happen without any backlit items in the instrument cluster. I also checked the tire pressure and I am about 33 psi on three tires and 34 psi on one so I am having them returned back to 35 psi on all. We have had 20 degree temp changes daily the last few days which I attribute to the tire pressure change. My reality is this vehicle is so much newer than my previous ride that there are many bells and "chimes" that are more advanced so I am also in a learning curve. Also I think I could just be a tad bit OCD and I have already pulled the manual and started a list of items that cause "chimes" so I can do a process of elimination.
  23. Not really. Not like it started chiming since the accident. It just happened this morning for the first time. I ran a vehicle health report and will check the web to see what it might say and then I did a system check on the car and all came up ok.
  24. Nothing of significant weight in the front seat. Oh and I do not have an option to pull the park brake. It's a pedal to depress. It's possible it may have not been 100% fully released which could make sense if the sensor detected it to be so. It's an option to at least try and check out. Any other ideas out there?
