GM cars already can do that with On Star. So I would think other manucaturers will offer similar features in the not so distant future.

Hello. I have a 2011 Edge and for the last month or so I have noticed the 7/8 on the key pad will light up sometimes and be out other times. I'm assuming bad part or connection. I need to get it in so the dealer can fix this under warranty but was just curious if anyone else has run into this before. Thanks!

Thanks Dingo. I may have to check into that., but if I use that, I will have to touch up the nicks I already have first. I was hoping to just cover them up. I found chrome and brack edge guards at Wal-Mart, but I was really hoping Ford made body color ones like the Honda's ones I found doing a search on Ebay.

Hello. Does anyone know where I could find some body color matching door edge guards for my 2011 Edge? I have the Kona Blue color and already have a couple nicks on the edge of the drivers door. I'd love to find some of these, preferably in the color of the car but haven't been able to locate any. Thanks!

Took mine in last week for an oil change and to fix my wiper problem. Turns out the switch was bad. Replaced it and everything works great now.

Mine was doing this when it was 70 degrees out. So I don't think it is a problem with the solvent freezing. I will have the dealer check it out and hopefully they can fix the problem.

Hello everyone. I was just going to post something about this as well but did a search and found this topic already started. My windshield washers have not worked many times in the last few months. You push the button and nothing. If you keep trying it, eventually it will work. I would expect to heard the motor running when I push the button and there is nothing. Very frustrating. I need to take the car in for an oil change soon so I plan to have them look at this issue. With everything else being related to the MFT system, didn't know if this was somehow related as well. Just a shot in the dark, but I hope they can figure it out. Scott

It's when we do anything with the phone. Not like anytime you push buttons, but if we get a text, the phone syncs to the car, we send a text. Things like that. It's just kind of annoying.

I have something going on with the MFT system and my cell phone since we had version 2.11 installed at the dealer a few weeks ago. Anytime we do anything with the phone (sync, text, call, etc), the radio cuts out and beeps. Doesn't matter what it is. If the phone is connected and you do anything with the phone it does this. I'm pretty sure it didn't do that with version 2.8 we had. Is this normal? My apologies if this has been addressed previously, but I am fairly new to the forum and don't have time to read through all 30 pages of this post. Thanks! Scott

That is good to hear Milzee. I think they would look great on my blue Edge, but I want to make sure that IA locking button still works. I think I will have to get me some. Thanks Scott

I agree. I've had my Edge for about three weeks and didn't realize the 20's were just plastic until the first time I washed it. I was pissed that I paid $900 for plastic, but as others have stated, they should look nice longer barring any unforseen damage. Guess I have to live with them now anyway. Scott

I am interested in getting the chrome door handles as well. I've seen some on ebay recently that say they work with the IA system on the 2011 Edge, but I'm wondering if anyone has purchased them. I'd like to make sure they actually work before I stick them on. Thanks, Scott

Thanks for the help Canuck. That helps me a bunch. I may have to do some of this stuff without telling the wife though. I made a comment to her about needing to buy a bunch of expensive cleaner and she said I don't need it. What I've been doing works just fine. So I'll buy stuff a little at a time and she won't even know. :-) Scott

One more thing I just throught of. I hate bugs and they are a pain to get off. What is the best way to easily and safely remove them when washing? Thanks. Scott

I must say, this is a great thread you have going here Canuck. I have read the entire thing in the last couple of days. I used to detail cars in high school (many years ago) and am pretty picky about my cars, but I have learned a lot reading these posts. I have only had my Kona blue Edge for about 5 days now and we love it. I did come up with a list of questions as I read that hopefully you guys can help me with. Here goes: 1) I see wheels and tires were addressed recently. My Edge has the 20" plastic chrome wheels. I'm a little irritated that I didn't realize that I paid $900 for plastic coated wheels until last night, but it is what it is. So to clean them better than soap and water you recommend P21S wheel cleaner? I typically use Eagle 1 All Wheel and Tire cleaner. It has worked well for me in the past. Does anyone know if this will hurt the plastic? 2) What is the proper technic for applying sealant? I know you said to put it on by hand. We always used to apply wax in a swirl motion, but I don't think that is recommended anymore. Is it the same for the sealant? I like the idea only only applying it twice a year and having good procetion the entire time between applications. 3) How long is a clay bar good for? I have the Meguires kit that I have used on my other vehicles and it works great. I store it in a small plastic container. Just wondering how long it's good for 4) How do you keep wax or sealant out of the emblems and moldings on the car? I always have a problem with that. My previous cars were light colored so it wasn't a huge deal, but with this dark blue car I think it will show up petty good. 5) The Optimum No Rince product you talk about sounds wonderful, but I guess I haven't quite figured out how you use it. Is it used just like normal car wash soap or with the soap or what. 6) How do you care for your MF towels? I assume machine wash with no fabric softener? Hello all. I am new to the forum as well as Ford. I've always been a GM guy, but we really liked the Edge, and it fit our needs the best with a little one on the way. I was thinking about getting a cargo shade until I did some searching and read the comments out here. Now I think I will save my money. I can't believe they don't have a roll-up cover like every other manufacturer does. Maybe in the future. I do have a question though. When you look at the accessory options on Ford's website, they list a Cargo Accessory Package that includes the cover / rear parcel shelf. Is the shelf a separate piece or is the cover sturdy enough to put things on? Just curious.
