  1. I live in cold climate and this morning my driver door was very frozen shut. I had to pull quite hard to get it open. Once inside I attempted to close my door, it did close but the driver door open message stayed in the information center my entire trip. Similarly, when coming home, the driver door open message stayed on and the interior lights stayed on for a minute or two. The door has a slight creaking noise inside the door now, almost as if something metal is now hanging.

What did I break in the door that makes the car think it's open? The door closes, I have to pull the handle to get it to open. Is this something I can fix by taking the interior plastic panels off the door and replacing a component?

  2. I often connect my phone headphone jack to the center armrest AUX jack on my 2007 edge. The other day I heard a slight pop sound and the music stopped; the stock radio will no longer play music from phone. I tested the phone with headphones, it works. The problem is with the built in jack/ wiring or the head unit.

Is there anyway I can test which is the culprit? Does the stock 2007 head unit have a AUX jack on the back I can test if I open up the dash?

  3. I read online that the 2010 Edge has 285 horsepower while the 2007-2009 has 265 horsepower. Is this true? If so, what changes were made in the 2010 to give it the extra power? Was the 2010 the year the 3.5L switched to variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust cams?

  4. My Mother-in-law is planning to purchase a used Edge SE. She likes the SE because the manual seats go higher than the electric ones. She likes the look of the fog lamps on my SEL.

Has anyone added the stock fog lamps to an SE? I found the fog lamp bezels online:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Replacement-Chrome-Fog-Lamp-Bezel-Bumper-Insert-LH-FOR-2007-10-FORD-EDGE-/370618765708?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AEdge&hash=item564a99918c&vxp=mtr

There are also the fog lamps themselves and if I dig enough I bet I could find the OEM head lamp dash switch that pulls out for fog lamps.

If anyone has attempted this, were you able to plug into the stock wiring harness or did you have to run separate wires? I know sometimes the wiring harness has connections for equipment that is not installed

e.g., my Edge has a connection for back-up sensors although my vehicle isn't equipped with them.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  5. I didn't realize the salt caused so much rusting and bad pitting. That's freaking crazy. I may bitch when it 95 degrees on most Summer days but at least I don't have to worry about road salt for more than one or two times a year and even then it's only on a few bridges! I feel bad for you snow belt folks!

Living in the north has it's pitfalls.

Is there any difference in front rotors between the FWD and AWD 07-11 Edges?

  6. Bendix CT-3 ceramic Pads are friction rated FF

Akebono ceramicPads are friction rated FF

Raybestos ceramic are friction FF at the low end of FF

EBC ceramic red stuff is friction rated GG

    Marty

What are the code letters on the OE Motorcraft??

    What do these ratings mean?

Also, will any pad and or rotors give me significantly shorter stopping distances?

  7. I've attached a picture of my front brake rotors on my 2007 sel. I noticed that the front rotors seem to have concentric rings on them, almost scratches, while the rears do not. Is this bad or does this mean it's time for replacement? Is there an easy way to tell if the front rotors or pads need replacement?
