SOLD!!!
  2. My car started making the hissing sound. I ordered a new brake booster. Can I drive the car 50-100 miles a day until the weekend when I can fix it? (Don't mind the hard pedal; used to be a wanna-be bodybuilder) FYI my car is a 2007 SEL with 113xxx miles.
  3. Is there a central point under the back of the car, maybe the tow hitch or differential, where I can jack the back of the car up to get both back wheels off the ground? I'll need to spin the wheels to align the driveshaft bolt holes.
  4. Thanks again WWWP, removing the AWD fuse has eliminated the vibration.
  5. Thanks again. I'm going to order the 2 piece/single bearing driveshaft for the 2008+ models from Benny. In the mean time I will remove the shaft so I can operate the car vibration free until the new shaft arrives.
  6. Thanks WWWPerfA_ZN0W I contacted him and will look locally. Would a Jiffy Lube sell a part like this direct to me? For the time being, is there any harm in removing the center shaft completely and operating the car in FWD?
  7. WWWPerfA_ZNOW it looks like you're right; the driveshaft is sold as an entire unit: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/CatalogResults.aspx?y=2007&m=Ford&mo=Edge#Search Are there any other places online that might sell this driveshaft; hopefully for less than Ford.
  8. That is the connection at the rear of the driveshaft below the fuel tank, is that the RDU or PTU? I don't remember that area being oily but I'm not 100% confident on that. Is there a way to check?
  9. I noticed some slight vibration in the drivetrain of my 2007 AWD Edge. Upon closer inspection it looks like the both center driveshaft bearings need replacement - I can see daylight around the black rubber (see the attached picture) and I can wiggle them around with my hand. I assume this isn't normal. Can these bearings be replaced without replacing the entire driveshaft? You can see the two bearings in this fancy drivetrain image: http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200704/2007-ford-edge-17_600x0w.jpg
  10. Thanks CinnamonEdge. I tightened them myself and it helped a lot. If I show the dealer this picture I don't think they'll believe me - although I did notice the blue falling off the bolt as they were tightened so it's clear they weren't previously tightened in the picture.
  11. Are these bolts left untightened correct? I have a lot of vibration. My 2007 Ford Edge was at the dealer today for a fuel tank replacement due to a recall. To replace it they have to unbolt the rear driveshaft. The car vibrated a lot (much more than usual) on the ride home. Is this normal? The bolts can be spun by finger.
  12. It sounds like they last longer than I expected. I called local tire shops and they charge $60-80 per wheel for new units as the battery is integrated. Are the units on a 2007 band type or the air inlet type?
  13. Can the lower row of buttons be added from the electric unit so that seat heaters can be added?
  14. Does the TPS need to be replaced when getting new tires? My sensors are at least 50k miles and 4 years old. Is the sensor typically replaced or just the battery?
  15. In the past year my edge has had a slight drivetrain vibration at 15-25mph. Recently the vibration has gotten much worse to point where you can feel a slight buzzing in your jaw when passing through this speed zone. The vibration doesn't change if I'm accelerating lightly or hard. The car has no other known problems other than a slight oil leak on the rear of the engine. Any ideas what this can be?
  16. Got it. My PCV is the heated variety. Is there anyway to determine if it is broken? The little ball inside bounced around freely and the ends weren't clogged.
  17. Gotcha, thanks guys. Is there a recommended torque at which to tighten the spark plugs? Is there anything that can be done with the old ones?
  18. Good to know that cleaning isn't essential. Acorns are how you roll- haha! Just to confirm, use throttle body cleaner when cleaning the throttle body and use carb cleaner to clean gunk out of the intake ports once they are exposed? Or can throttle body cleaner be used for both? Does it matter which is used to clean out the existing PCV if the original still looks useable?
  19. New outer tie-rods are on and the car is aligned! I needed a MAP torch for the driver side. The front end feels much better although not perfect. In your spark plug video macbwt you're cleaning the engine before doing the spark plugs. This seems like a good idea to avoid debris falling into the engine. For those without access to compressed air, is there a liquid cleaner for safe use in the engine bay than can be sprayed to the engine bay and then wiped?
  20. Although not a flush, can I drain the steering fluid from the bottom (somewhere on the rack?), close it up and then refill the reservoir from the top? Similar to an oil change than a flush, maybe this will replace 75% of the fluid.
  21. That's good to know, the teams fluid is nice and red and the power steering fluid is brown. I'll pull some out and see what it feels like. I have many parts on order, in the mean time I attempted to get an alignment but the passenger wheel rocked so much they said there was no point to an getting an alignment. Now I've ordered new tie-mood ends. Could the wetness in the pictures in the first post be power steering fluid or does the consistency look more like oil? I bumped a curb at 5mph a few months ago and maybe that caused damage/misalignment.
  22. I won't wait until 260K to do it, haha. Is there a particular color the steering fluid becomes that lets you know it's time to change it?
