  1. with no trailer hitch, which bike rack do you recommend?

You could try www.saris.com and look at the Bones 3 bike rack.

Here is a pic of the adjustable arm model on a CUV/SUV (you may have to select the right pic):

    http://www.saris.com/productImages.aspx?PID=299&count=11

I have one of these and it does the trick. I have three pieces of advice from my experience:

    1. Make sure the bike is not coming in contact with your car. (particulary the pedals)

    2. Heavier bikes will cause your bumper to deflect a little while mounted on your vehicle.

    3. Consider investing in a bumper protector decal/pad. While the rubber grips on the bike rack will not scratch your paint, dirt particles between the rubber grips and your car could cause scrathes.

  2. As "local" stated, $25,349 is the price after the Incentives are deducted. Those Incentives consist of $1,500 "Retail Customer Cash" and $400 "Bonus Customer Cash

This is copied from post on X-Plan Forum...can anyone explain the $400 "Bonus Customer Cash Incentive.

    Thx...PD

If you go to Ford's website you can find current incentives for their vehicles. If you look at the incentives for the Edge, you will notice that the Cash incentives are currently as described above. They should have different program numbers and can have different expiration dates.

As far as why they are called different things...and not just lumped into one sum that they can change...I have no idea and could only speculate.

  3. dead link...

Yea..you're right. That's weird because when I tried it in message preview it worked. Must be a time-out type thing for the database. At least it worked for scanham. At any rate just go to:

    www.motorcraftservice.com

On the left side of the window is a link to owner manuals. Once you click it, you can select the vehicle you are looking for manuals for....

    ....damn prepositions :banghead:

  4. “While custom-made to appeal to customers, Edge Sport is smart business,” said Mark Fields, president of The Americas. “The aftermarket industry has grown to a $40 billion annual business, and crossovers are the fastest-growing vehicle segment in the U.S. We want customers who crave something special to know that Ford can customize their Edge – right at the factory.”

I get the impression they are intentionally trying to tap into the $40 billion aftermarket business at the factory instead of letting aftermarket products get their customer's money. It might work if marketted correctly.

Pricewise, I'll bet it is just under the Limited, unless the DVD and BAMR are mandatory options.

  5. It looks like it says it cannot be combined with other (private?) offers.

I joined the AQHA so I could qualify for their $500 rebate. I don't think I would be allowed to use both...so I'm only out $250...for now. :shades:

Incidently (Indecently), I've tentatively negotiated $400 below invoice and a free oil change and half price ones after that up to 50K miles. + doc ($86) + ttl

I probably should have thrown in an LD clause for extended delivery. I wish my Edge were here.

  6. Ummm, hi Shizzy....

Ummm, see, I have an idea...You can just ship the mats to me and I can get them worn in for ya, you know, just until you get your vehicle..lol :P

    *kidding*

I actually got the all weather ones from Ford...pretty cool...(the floormats that is)(the cargo liner came from WT)

Did you get them yet? Oh wait...that's right, I haven't sent them yet. I can't believe I forgot to send them. :hysterical:

Still waiting....Edge ETA was this week, but I don't think it has left the factory yet.

  7. ... and then when you find an issue are made to feel like your the pushy bad guy for wanting it right.

What Lex said is right, this is true and happens a lot.

There is nothing wrong with standing up for yourself. If looks and smells like poop, it probably is and there is no reason to eat it just because someone is telling you it is not. lol. Be a squeaky wheel and you will get what you want. Just don't be rude.

I was pushed around on the last car I bought. I got pushed around by the dealer. I got a little my way, but not everything I should have. This is a long story so I won't tell it here. Needless to say, I will not buy another car from Pontiac until every other manufacturer out there burns their bridge with me. I bought a "Certified" used car from Jerry Haggerty (in Glen Elyn, IL I think). I tried to take the car back because I supposedly had three days to do so, but they wouldn't take it back. I had good reasons too, but they made me feel like I was being too picky and that I didn't interpret the rules correctly. I gave up and it still eats at me to this day. :banghead:

As far as telling yourself you paid $6K-$8K less than what you would have for an Acura, that's silly. Lincoln is Ford's luxury line. They better take pride in their luxury line. Also, you could have bought an Edge for $6K-$8K less than your MKX and you would not have that problem. My Edge is supposedly coming in this week and I wouldn't tolerate it. Not after the fiasco with my last buying experience.

katiesdady makes a good point for arbitration. I've never tried that though. Good Luck!

  8. Hi SHIZZY.:D While I had no trouble visualizing what Poorboy meant, thanks for the description. :hysterical:

I guess the point I was making was a bit too obscure.

In other words, whether they fold forward 90 degrees (as you describe), or rearward 90 degrees (as they are designed to do), I see no difference or advantage. If you are pulling into/out of "the garage too close to the wall", fold them rearward (as the Owners Manual describes).

    No sweat.

    :stop:

  9. Then, when resuming driving, you can fold them "outward", back to the regular driving position.

How many other ways are you expecting them them to fold?

    Good luck. :beerchug:

I think maybe he means something like hyper-extending. He knows you can folds the mirrors in towards the back of the car, but can you fold the mirrors in towards the front of the car?

In this position, the mirrors would be exposed and possibly sticking out past the windshield if you are having trouble visualizing.

  10. I ordered mine on roughly Nov 10th.

It's scheduled build date is Jan 14, '08 according to the dealer. Although I get the impression that "Build Date" has different meanings between the dealers and the factory. I am tracking this at BlueOvalNews under the same user name. I anticipate that I'll have the vehicle by the end of Jan.

Talk about a lot of waiting. The positive side is that I feel like I've already gone through the "buyer's remorse" phase. lol. :yup:

  11. This is a little off topic and I'll probably be damned for suggesting this here, but have you looked at the Honda Pilot? I considered one of those because there is an option for interior bike mounting. You have to fold the rear seats down and then pop the front wheel off of your bike. The bike's front arms then "plug" into floor intalled mounts. Two adult bikes can be transported this way.

If it hadn't been for the Vista roof, I would have picked the Pilot for that reason. :yup:

  12. That is a great description! Is it safe to assume that the eleastice bands allow the rear seats to be reclined? I was curious as to how that worked.

A friend of mine has an older Acura MDX. It has a retractable cargo shade attached just behind the rear seats. The rear seats in his MDX do not recline.

I ordered the privacy shade because I usually have a messy trunk and I thought it would help in case I missed an actual trunk. lol

Should be getting my Edge towards the end of Jan.

  13. Not unless the two reds match and I don't think they do. I got the impression that the inserts were a brighter red. I'm not sure that would look that great.

I may have to take back what I previously said.

I was just back home in Akron, OH and saw a Red '08 Edge AWD Limited with the red inserts on display inside a mall (Summit Mall). It looked pretty sharp. It also had the 20" wheels and BAMR.

It appeared that the front windows were smoked, which is legal in OH, but not IL where I am living now.

(It didn't have the tow package or NAV system.)

  14. I'm planning to order a loaded Edge in a couple of months for spring delivery....trouble is, I'm thinking Red with black leather with the red inserts.....Do I dare????

    Any advice??
