For future reference: Remove the purge value before moving the clip.
There is enough slack in the hose to do so. Makes it a lot easier.

In my experience with this issue, the interior temperature is what triggers the auto setting to turn on. For example: Car parked outside @ 32 degrees:
Sun through the windows, or parked in garage, interior temps higher than outside temps, will not set added features on.

Also check the connector to the module, the Black wire, (ground), may have burnt the connector due to over heating at that pin connection. Common Problem.

The load may have pressed down on the suspension, forcing to fuel tank tighter against to car body or suspension; allowing the sound of the fuel pump to be transmitted into the car body. Amplifing the sound level of the pump.
