  1. Hello, haven't posted in awhile. Just picked up a 2012 Edge Sport, Tuxedo black, Vista roof, all the goodies. This is technically our 3rd Edge. We had a Burnt Orange 08 that we traded for the Wife's current 2011 Limited and we just added my sport to the family. I decided to trade my 2011 5.0 in for it this weekend. I know some might think I'm crazy for trading a 5.0 but after awhile the lousy gas mileage, stick shift and 3.73's get a bit cumbersome. I wanted to go back to some luxury for my daily commute and the Edge fit the bill perfectly. Still sporty and awesome to look at and all the toys you could want. Here are some shots:

And for giggles here is my other toy:

And the 5.0 I just traded:

Windows got tinted today so I'll new pics soon. I was reading the H&R Spring thread and think I'll pull the trigger on those, the White one lowered looked just sick! Going to probably do the Steeda intake and maybe a magna flow cat back (or custom exhaust not sure).

    Couple quick questions:

    1. Do they have the proper tune yet for the 3.7L Engine? It's the same as the Mustang's V6 and there are tunes available for that. I haven't seen anything specific yet though. Recommendations here or dyne results would be awesome!

    2. Exhaust. The magna flow kit looks good, does it fit the sport correctly? Anyone running it care to comment on interior noise levels, the last thing I want is any drone, that will drive me absolutely nuts. I don't mind a nice growl inside when you get on it but when I'm cruising I like it nice and quiet so I can carry on a conversation and listen to the radio (which sounds sick for factory).

    3. Has anyone done the JL audio stealth box? Looks nice and fits in the side panel so I can keep my rear cargo space. I wouldn't mind a little extra bump in the trunk and stealth suits me fine.

That's really all the plans I have for it. I kinda have a condition called Automotive ADD so I go thru a lot of vehicles, but that's what makes life so much fun lol...

looking at the photo from the sport it looks like you have the same sony button controls I do in my 11 limited. I thought the 12 had a flat black look and it wasn't completely flat?

  2. Hello All,

I recently purchased a 2012 Edge Sport and have a question regarding the fuel tank. I've noticed that, when refueling the car, I can usually only put in 13 - 14 gallons of fuel. I've been refueling when it says I have 30 - 50 miles left. Given that this is an 18.3 gallon tank, I was a bit concerned. I asked my local Ford dealership to check it out, and they told me that it is typical for these cars to have 2 - 5 gallons in reserve after the gas gauge indicates empty. Has anyone else run into this? Just seems like a large variance to me to have in reserve......

From what I can find 2011+ edges with FWD have a 18 US Gal tank and 2011+ edges with AWD have a 19 US Gal tank. Today I drove until I had 2 miles till empty on my gauges and filled up. I held the pump the normal way. It clicked and I rounded it off to the nearest dollar. I had put in 18.3 US Gal. So with my experience we have roughly 1 US Gal after the car says it is empty. I have a 2011 Limited AWD with the 3.5

  3. The issues with MFT are most definitely not user error. As Akirby has mentioned in other threads Ford knew there were tons of bugs before it was released and have not been able to fix them. Bugs are not user error, though I will say some bugs may be forced by the way some use the system but again it is not user error. User error doesn't make the nav crash on start up, phones randomly connect/disconnect, USB sometimes recognized sometimes not etc etc.

So to Delldell's point if you are not in need of a vehicle now I would hold off to see if the rewrite fixes the issues or if you are willing to take a big bet they fixed it after several tries see if they will give you a better deal. Overall that deal didn't sound like something I would have a hard time passing up. I would also be leary of why they need to do a deal so quickly especially on a 2012. If you really like the car ask if you can put $100 down to hold it to have the wife check it out. Buys you a little time to do a little more research.

If they are forced by the way people use it then I would say it is user error... Anyway nothing is perfect but I wouldn't not buy the car because of MFT that is all I am saying. Ford has acknowledged there are issues great but I would be willing to bet the people having issues is a very small percentage of owners. Just because many on here are having problems the members here probably make up roughly 25-35% of owners and not everyone on here is having an issue. Also a phone connecting and disconnecting isnt the end of the world you just push phone and connect problem solved. If that doesn't work you just go in and forget the pairing and do it over again. There are many people that don't belong doing anything while the drive as it is, so not being able to gossip on their phone while driving isn't a bad thing either. As far as the nav crashing haven't had that happen yet. However I can say I travel 25,000 miles in 8 months out of the year for work and have had many times I have been ready to throw my Garmin nuvi out the window..... I would say patience is the key to mft. It crashes and uses gets flustered... there is a big part of the problem. I think many people have forgotten how spoiled they are. You could spend about 10-15K more for a BMW and have mechanical issues..... Just saying.....

  4. I don't know all of the options you have, but I would not get it if it has My Ford Touch until the new release and you can see all of the problems have been worked out.. Or, if you really want the car, ask for more of a discount because of the uncertainty of My Ford Touch

Many of the problems with MFT I personally think are user error. No different than a computer. I haven't really had my edge very long, 2 and a half weeks, but I don't have even 2% of the issues many people are complaining about. Mine has froze and immediately rebooted once, however I tried to make it do 4 things at the same time. A computer is no different. I have only had that one issue. I have found with the sync part you need to pronounce words how they look not the correct way in English. Other than the one crash and restart that took all of 3 mins I have had zero problems and I have put 700 miles on it. As far as people complaining about having to take their car into the dealer to have the updates done, they really do not belong having a "smart" car. I followed the very simple instructions on syncmyride.com and it took 45 mins total to update the software on MFT.... I take the complaints to be about as valuable as consumer reports (next to useless). Biggest problem is 95% of people have zero patience and that is why they are having so many issues with MFT. They aren't going to get much more of a discount because the dealer is not going to go below invoice unless they absolutely have to. Dealers don't stay dealers long if they do...

  5. I got the cargo cover as part of the deal. I didn't pay a penny for it. I told my fiance when she got home from work that I would be pissed if I had to pay for it. I agree I have never seen anything that cheap from Ford. As long as I can remember they all Ford SUV's have come with the roll up type all the way back to my moms old 1986 Ford Bronco II. they all came with pretty much the same style. 1998 Ford Exploder, 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, 2004 Ford Escape.......

  6. I took the car to the shop today, It happened two more times.

At the shop, the ford service manager said " I have never seen this one". He gave me a loaner, said I may need the loaner for a week.

Then he had the nerve to ask me if I liked my new car. I told him I hate the car, wished I would have never purchased the car. I am praying they buy the car back, I know that won't happen.

If it is a problem they can't fix ford is pretty good about the buy back.

  7. Sorry to hear that you didn't qualify for the "acident forgiveness Clause", but at least you will be getting you Edge fixed, and hopefully on the road soon. A year ago this past summer, this ding bat lady cut across 2 lanes of traccic right in front of my wife, and my wife "nailed" her with our MKS. Our dealership (Maplecrest, Union,NJ) has it's own body shop, and their work was superb. Had $8,000 damage to our car, looks perfect. Make sure that whoever does the work, uses GENUINE Ford parts. There are manufacturers out there that have "replacement" parts, but from what I understand, they are not the same as FMC parts, maybe cheaper grade of metal, aluminum, whatever.

Many aftermarket parts are far worse quality than eom. And by being thinner, lighter, different. In the event of another crash there is far more damage in the aftermarket car than the eom car. In this instance the pay me now or pay me later saying is very true!

  8. So I have had retro source 55w hid kit In my car for about 7 months and out of know where the headlights stopped turning on. Anyone have similar problem? Not sure if it's the hid kit itself or my car

If you added a wire harness check the relay and fuse. I mounted the relay upside down on my last car thinking it was waterproof. Well I was wrong and it filled with water and rusted inside. Needless to say a relay is magnetic and when it gets too rusty it doesn't make contact. If it is the reply just take yours into just about any autoparts store.

  9. Thank you both! I went and looked for myself after I saw your responses and turns out the very intelligent passenger I had only found the fold down handle and assumed it was the recliner as well. I went and tried it out and it IS power adjusting, thank goodness. SO glad I asked you all before going to the dealer...guess I cant take anyone's word without seeing for myself anymore haha thank you!!

Glad it is how it is supposed to be! I stopped relying on other people a few years ago. I have found there is only one way to be 100% sure and that is to look/do it yourself :)
