  1. i can understand removing the more heated parts of my reply and no hard feelings on my end about that, but i wish you would have left the rest of my reply. It really erks me when people have an attitude and perception as skewed as his. i made no derrogatory comments toward his profession and yet i get slandered because i don't elaborate every single word for the .01% of people on this forum who thrive on their Napolean syndrome because they have "insider information" on design and production of single system on a vehicle that has more than 1,000 functioning systems. i joined this forum for two reasons, 1.) to learn more 2.) to help others. now, i've been on many forums in the past and i know that people like him are always present, but i suppose i get a sick thrill from a heated debate with the ones who feel superior because they have they know SOOO much about a single system....lol sorry for the rant, but i put alot of thought into my previous reply...i apologize for the foul words, but not the basis of my response
  2. all we care about is doing everything we can to get it fixed for you and making sure you're happy, and doing that is always at a pretty big personal expense. Even though we may have your vehicle in excess of a couple of hours, we only get paid for about .7 hours of that. all i'm trying to do is let you all know that if you don't want to fool with the update yourselves your dealer will do it free of charge.
  3. why on earth would you do the upgrade yourself?!?! Take it to the dealer! no matter what your milage it will be covered under warranty and no charge to you! TAKE IT TO THE DEALER!
  4. the reason i say it wont matter is that when you take it in to have the upgrade to the new system installed, they'll just update it to whatever version is current and required then install the new version on top of that. so if you're running good right now just leave it be
  5. update version won't matter when it comes to the new one.
  6. the factory hitch, IIRC, is not concealed completely but does require cutting the rear bumper and doesn't stick out too much. i know its not exactly what you're looking for, but in all honesty these vehicles were not purpose built for towing so the options are limited
  7. i could be wrong man, but i think the upgrade you're getting is just a software update to the current MyTouch version. i dont think you're getting the new version. i've made several phone calls this AM to reps, FSE's, and the Sync Tech Hotline. Nobody knows anything about it being released. Your dealer may be a lil confused. I hope not, I hope the new update is out so we can just forget all this mess from the previous mytouch version, lol. just don't be too upset if its only a minor software/firmware update and not the full new version everyone is waiting for
  8. take it to whatever dealership you want man. i get so sick and tired of hearing things like that. your warranty is good ANYWHERE with a Ford logo nationwide. they CAN NOT refuse to work on your vehicle under warranty. I'm not saying that that particular dealership was refusing, but there are some out there that only wanna do warranty work on cars they sell and THAT ISN'T RIGHT, nor is it good business. Once your car is out of warranty, that's another story, but i can assure you that NO dealership is going to turn away customer pay work, lol. and no worries Randall. probably best the way it worked out anyway. Techs and advisors sometimes perceieve customer diagnostic requests the wrong way anyways.
  9. what are the symptoms of your concern? and keep in mind, i'm just a guy on the other of a computer. No matter what i say, i'm not your servicing technician and my opinion based on the info you give me means exactly zip to the technician looking at your vehicle. my posts are info only and in no way a diagnostic evaluation.   12. pulling fuse 29 is not a good fix IMO. disconnect one side of the battery for 5 minutes. Reconnect, let it go through the maintenance screen and then you'll be up and running again. i know it sucks for you, but take it to the dealer and make them do it...that's what i tell all of my customers to do...

Weezer, to me it sounds like you've got a cabin pressure seal leaking. the whistle is more than likely due to the pressure created inside the cabin with the HVAC system pumping air in and a seal on that rear door being loose, torn, or just blown. just my .02 Letstryaford, take a look at this: TSB 11-2-13 WHISTLE NOISE FROM LEFT HAND SIDE EXTERIOR MIRROR WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 64 KM/H (40 MPH) - BUILT ON OR BETWEEN 7/12/2010 - 12/22/2010Publication Date: February 18, 2011 FORD:2010-2011 EdgeLINCOLN:2010-2011 MKX ISSUE: Some 2010-2011 Edge and MKX vehicles built on or between 7/12/2010 and 12/22/2010 may exhibit a wind whistle noise from the left hand (LH) side exterior mirror while driving at speeds over 64 Km/h (40 MPH). Carefully remove the mirror mounting base gasket from the mirror housing. Locate the small access cover under the mirror neck.   18. thought i'd start a post to give everyone a chance to ask any questions or express any concerns they may have regarding warranty, recalls, or TSB's. We all know that the way stuff like this is worded, it can lead to more than when you started. but there are easy ways to decipher the warranty and policy manual. So, no matter what your question or gripe is, lay it on me and i'll do my absolute best to help. *Disclaimer* If you're not a factory trained technician, don't go barging into your dealership spouting off and telling them what to do. I say this because I deal with it every day. It's rude and makes you look bad. TSB's do not mean Recall. A TSB is a way to cut back on down time for the customer to be out of their own vehicle and expedite the repair process. Just because there is a TSB does not mean that your car is a lemon or defective. It could simply be that Ford or Lincoln found/finally realized (whatever the case may be) that there is an issue with parts, assembly and/or both. The guy at the dealership that some people are rude to DID NOT BUILD THAT VEHICLE. He didn't even have a hand in putting it together. All he's trying to do is fix it and help you get back on the road. And even though he may spend SEVERAL hours working on your vehicle to get back in shape, he'll probably only get a 1/4 of actual time spent fixing it. It sucks, but it is a reality. So keep these things in mind when taking your car in. We are only here to help, and common courtesy and respect go a LONG way. One last thing, no matter how many internet articles you read or print off, your dealership CAN NOT use them in troubleshooting or repair warranty issues. I personally hate this, because if someone out there has a legitimate fix, then we should be able to do what needs to be done, but on the brighter side, people at Ford do read these boards and MANY MANY others looking for things like what you guys come up.   19. thanks for the warm welcomes everyone. excited about being on here. and anxious to help and answer questions in any way i can. Especially when it comes to the SYNC/MFT/MLT systems. i've spent a great deal of time taking classes and getting hands on experience with those systems. and like everyone else on this board, i'm very anxious for the new update to hit
  20. looks like these guys have already beat me to it. lol if completing the drive cycle doesn't help it, then take it straight to your dealership. They'll need to monitor HEGO performance, long term and short term fuel trims, and a few other PID's to see why the readiness monitor isnt coming on and if you in fact have a lean or rich condition thats contaminating readings. Unlikely, but it can happen. Historically we don't see many issues with engine performance on the edge though
  21. howdy all. I'm Rob. I'm a service advisor at a Ford dealership in kentucky. as the title says, not new to Ford. With that being said, if you all ever have any questions or concerns hit me up. I'll do my best to give you the straightest answer possible. It'll probably be a 2 part answer. 1 being my own knowledge from working for ford, 2 being a professional employee. Most times those fall in line with each other, but occasionally it'll take FMC a lil longer to catch on to what the the techs are telling them is the problem. anyway, my g/f and i have a 10 Edge Limited and i'm currently in the market for a stock nav unit from 09-12 with the chrome buttons so it matches her interior. PLEASE let me know if you have one for sale, know of one for sale, or just wanna give me one! lol. thanks Rob
  22. 13's have the upgraded MFT/MLT installed a couple of Dearborn reps were here in an escape and a Taurus. The new update is very nice. as for the release of the update, word behind the scenes remains the same as it has been. 1Q 2012. as soon as we get our hands on the first update i'll post up and let you guys know.
  23. i've got a nav head unit for a ford, lincoln or mercury for 2006 and newer vehicles. I got it from a customer here at the dealership that put in an avic n2. asking $500 for it. Also, looking to buy a nav unit for my 2010 Edge Limited. can send pics upon request and any other info needed. sorry for short post, but i'm at work and unit is not readily available.
