  1. Is this doing some sort of a "whoosh" sound as well? I think I have the same issue with my MKX.
  2. "1. When accelerating slowly (rpm peaking at 3,000) I notice that when shifting from 4th to 5th gear at about 40 mph I hear a slight vacuum sucking “whoosh” noise. This noise coincides with a quick rpm over-travel from about 2200 to 2700 after which the transmission shifts into 5th. During this “whoosh” and over-travel there is a drop in power and the vehicle hesitates (no increase in mph with the rising rpm)." I have this same thing happen to me...my car has 70K on it now (which means the warranty is up). Did you ever find out the solution? Sometimes the tranny clunks, but not very often. I should've purchased an ESW, but I might trade it in.

    Burr, I think the SAME thing happened to me when they installed my new PTU (about a month later I noticed it when changing the oil). Did they specify that it was the main rear seal?

    Here is the TSB I was referring to. http://way2evil.com/tsb/tsb09-25-07.pdf I had my PTU replaced in September of 2010, and I'm not sure if the part itself has a warranty on it or not. You may want to check. My leak may be due to a big temperature change, so I've cleaned the PTU and I'm going to keep checking periodically. It wasn't that big of a leak, but knowing that this is a problem made me freak out a bit since my power train warranty is out.

    I've had this problem 3 times now, and my warranty just went up 300 miles ago. Do you guys know if there's a TSA for the seal problem? I really don't want to pony up the cash for a major flaw.
