all, i have a 2013 sel that does not not have hid(which is dumb) and these headlight are seriously some of the worst i have driven behind. its a lease so i dont want to commit too much $$ to hid conversion yet, but was wondering if anyone has tried just upgrading the bulbs? i figured since they are projector already with a nice bulb they would get the desired look and improvement with a nice bulb? any help or experience is apprecoiated! -Cheers

yeah, we don't have them in pa either. I told my salesman don't even think about bringing in a car for me from neighboring states that all have holes in the front for plates! he got me one without. I have run euro plate on the front of all if my vw, minis and bimmers. just doesn't work on a ford edge here, but there where its needed, they look great!

i didnt know if it was a new vanlance with that light inetrgrated into units sent there, or just a bollt on generic red light just to qualify. was hoping it was nice and lntegrated and could be put on here. always ran that fog on my MINI's and VW's. was too much $$ to add to the bimmers so i never did. -Cheers

2013 awd 3.5 six weeks old with about 1400 on the odom and i cant get better then 15! i know im a more spirited driver than most, but 15? all the variables are good(tire press. etc) lately since ive been using sport mode only, i cant even get 15! i dont try so for economy so im not too concerned, but i was hoping for at least 17-19 for my daily mix of city/hgwy. still, using cheap gas equals me out to just a little less then i was spending on fuel in my 3 series averaging just under 20mpg. ford definitely inflated their numbers on this buggy. i couldnt imagine how you would have to drive to get 19(city hgwy mix)

also, is that a euro rear fog? do you have this? can it be modded?

agreed. my 92 shit beater vw jetta had a locking fuel door. I have never owned a vehicle that didn't. I was blown away also that this has no locking door! and, a prop rod? seriously? said shit box had hood struts! for a mid $40k vehicle I find that unacceptable. I really like this edge but coming from bimmers my list of things I miss is growing. it's mainly things that are available if I you go to a limited or sport, but they should be standard at this price range. ALL windows should be one touch, including sunroof (what's with stopping 6inches and having to hold to close? dumb) key memory seats/mirrors should be standard with power seats rain sensing wipers shoul be at least optional in sel, se heated wheel should be optional hid should be standard, it's 2013! so on and so on. you never realize how nice these things are until they're gone. I get in my twelve year old X5 and have all of these things that are missing from my 2013 Ford and it's a little upsetting. if I would have bought an entry level focus I would understand, but I bought a sel AWD, optioned the hell out of it including the appearance pkg. , mft nav roof blis etc and these things aren't included? it's my fault for assuming that the nice stereo would come with the like $4k audio/nav upgrade pkg. and memory seats would come with leather/heated. I definitely didn't do enough research and may have went another way then getting the $44k car with none of these things??

well, seems all is fixed. new pcm in, trans works correctly and im happy. in the meantime while waitng for the parts my sync has been acting up!? all software is up to date according to them. i just hope this does not become a constant battle with service for results. fingers crossed for the future! thanks for all the help and advice here. just got the call that my new pcm finally came in. im scheduled for this Thursday. said it will only take a few hours and ill have it back that same afternoon. im hoping all goes well and ill update the results asap! -Cheers

update: they finally heard from ford today and the have ordered me a new ecu and should be there before the end of the week. they cant just flash the one in there now. i hope this doesnt lead to issues with other things? fingers crossed...

update: the tech and I took their Edge for a ride and he said "oh yeah, this is night and day different from yours." No Shit! Thats what i have been telling them! you think they would have tried to duplicate the problem in another vehicle on their own since i told them i drove two differnt ones before mine and they acted right. He said he never drove one that shifted in proper sport mode. the tech was very young, but very nice. he said that Ford just doesnt keep them as educated as he would like on new features, and i believe him. The sa apologized for his ignorance on this and said he too was unaware of the S mode update. I kept calm and and gave them no hassle, even though they handed me back a freshly washed and waxed ride(done by me, so i requested they didnt wash it)covered in a film of dirt and dust from their shitty lot. i just let it all go as i have been on the other side of this situation too many times before. So now i wait for an answer from Ford as to what is needed to fix it. They are assuming because it is a very early '13 prod. date that it may need an update as mentioned a few posts back. i hope thats the case. one of the reasons i chose this vehicle is for the 6spd. auto WITH sport mode. i will take issue if this can not be sorted to work right. so after a lite argument on the phone with the s.a. about the way he's comprehending the sport mode description and the way we all are, they are saying that it is performing correctly and there is nothing they can do and to come pick it up. I am not understanding he tells me... wrong. on my way to service to pick up my car i stop by my salesman's desk and he grabs me keys to another edge. i drive it. its functioning the proper way!! not like mine. they dont even know what they are doing. he went to grab a tranny tech so we could do a ride along, but he was out to lunch. so now i have to go back in an hour, but once he see's im right I have no confidence that this particular dealer has the capability to fix it?! see you in an hour...

thanks omar! im going to forward this to them and hopefully this helps. im going to drive another one today and get an appointment. i though it was new for '13 and thought that might be why the tech was unsure of this function, as the previous gen's had the M mode. edit: i made an appointment for Fri. morn. i'll follow up here when i know more.

as soon as i put it in from park it displays 1st gear. or, whatever gear it is in if done while moving. i have sync mft as well so the tach and gear indicator come up. what does yours do?

it will go to rev limiter and stay for about a sec and then abrubtly shifts into second. if I don't take it to the limiter and just let off, it stays in gear as well. if i put it in s when cruising, lets say 45mph, it just stays in that gear, whether I floor it or just normally accelerate. I would have to hit the button to downshift.

so now im really confused. i talked with a tech at the dealer since the sa said he had no idea and he told me when you put it in S, you should have to shift with the buttons. even though the owners manual says otherwise? i drove one that operated in S auto mode and for sure 100% it was shifting like an auto, just in a more sporty fashion. i intentionally played with it to get a feel for the auto. mine does not shift until the limiter. if it had the M instead of the S, i would understand. this is not a huge deal, but i like the option to have it that way as i have driven nothing but manuals for the last 18 years and prefer a little more agressive shift point without pushing the button. plus, does this mean something is wrong with it? every auto trans i have ever driven with an autoshift type feature(including my current X5) had an S mode, until you used the autoshift feature, then it would hold until redline or you selected.

the tires are exactly why i didnt get the sport. they will be horrible in winter. anything below 35 degrees(F) and they are basically hockey pucks. add precip and its ice skating time. having the awd will help , but wont help stop it. you most def will want to put winters on.

i lamost did white, but my last 4 cars, and current other car are white! and a 5th in white a few years back. this color is so much nicer in person. it just doesnt come over the same in pics. i didnt like any other color but black and it seems they dont make it with the app. package. i have not seen another around town or at local dealers, so im hoping it stays that way! have not seen another app. pkg version at all actually. i know theyll be out there, its just nice to have a unique version of something if possible. i struggled with this vs. sport, but i just didnt want to deal with summer HP 22's. i ve been swapping giant uhp wheels and tires for winter set ups on my RWD cars for the last 9 years and for today, im over it. the ast 20's with awd will do just fine for our climate and no swithcing back and forth. thers nothing worse than taking off those beautiful, big sport wheels and throwing the winters on. my car looked like poo! i just didnt see the point in spending $$ on winters so always ran some oem craptastics. im not super concerned with these wheels being fudged in winter as i take extra good care of my cars, even if leased. i would however like the front lower spoiler off of the sport, though i see it is much cheddar. just going to do hid, led upgrades and thats about it. -Cheers

this is odd. i drove a limited awd and when i put it in S, it changed shift points and drove at a more agressive program then D. no need to touch the buttons. however, my sel v6 awd does not shift in S. it stays in gear until you push the button?? if i touch the buttons in D, they do nothing? any info before i contact the dealer would be much appreciated! -Cheers

Gang, Just picked up my 2013 sel with app pkg. in deep impact blue. got it all loaded up and quite like it! i drove all limiteds before they put the search in for the one i wanted. as others have mentioned, i was a little upset when i took delivery that the the nicer stereo and ambient light werent included in the audio/navi upgrade pkg. seems off, but oh well. i didnt do enough research i guess. this is my first domestic car.. ever. ive been driving and working with european cars for the last 18 years. there was just nothing out there that i wanted or could afford new right now. i sold a 2006 e90 BMW 3 series(my 9th BMW in as many years) and purchased this edge. i also have a 02 BMW X5. i really dig the features, and really miss some that the bimmer has. i was blown away with the handling of this cuv. really great for what it is! just wanted to say hello. ive been trolling around here and like what i see. lots of good info and not too much forum non-sense. the X5 forum i belong to is a wealth of info and diy's. i hope to get the sam here. i already bought the MINi stub antenna and inquired at brightlites for some info, both of which i found on this forum. i wont be modding much since this is a daily family truckster and i like the quiet nice ride. just some asthetic goodies. hope you all are well and look forward to speaking with you! -Cheers what it replaced...
