yes, but this is not the issue at hand.. speed has nothing to do with this issue nor does the frequency of the beeps nor the beeps themselves

I stand corrected about the "SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft System"... I think of that as a full on security system - versus an 'alarm' - so did not really think it through and it just seemed that they piggy-backed a 'security' system on an existing 'security' system... which seemed odd. anyway... still very curious what he has, what it does, and what is the point if pressing the button does nothing and they gave him manual. keep us in the loop

I can offer you nothing there. dealer 'might' be best for that as I have never seen a way to adjust such a setting. I was only offering up a confirmation that what you claimed it did in fact happens for me as you claim... and continues to do so. IF you find out more, please be sure to post up as this is a new issue I have not seen documented.

why the heck would they even do this? The Edge has a system. did you see extra cost on your invoice for this hack? do you have another key FOB for it? what happens when you use your key FOB to do things like panic alarm? if pressing the button does nothing, what exactly does it do & did you pay for? have you tried sitting in the car, locking it, and opening the doors to see what happens? btw, if you got a step stool and looked through the windshield glass at the backside of the device, you might see a manufacturer label/embossed stamp.

well.... here is a curve ball for you... the freak is correct my 2008 fully loaded (navi, Sirius) Limited absolutely, positively, unequivocally attenuates - lowers the volume - of my stereo when reverse sensors come on. I tested it like 5 times.. moment the sensors kick in, the stereo lowers in volume. it is not the sensors getting louder I am hearing, it is the stereo volume dropping. no doubt about it.

yes, many of us using HID with success.. I hope you use a digital kit? that seems to be pretty well established need for the Edge (you can search HID threads as to exactly why). whom did you get it from? I would not think resistors would play a roll in this issue.

look on the backside of it... is there a manufacturers name or any markings? do you have the Homelink garage door openers built into your visor? do you have any after-market stereo head unit/equipment? there is definitely more to this story than we have...

Dude, I have no idea WTF that is.. not on my Limited, or any others I test drove or have seen, or reference in any manual or Ford spec site I've seen.. that thing is not stock whatever it is.. Is this Edge new or used? The photo makes it look like some sort of 'feature' someone else added. Have you actually pressed that button?

I am disappointed to report, as of today, I ordered +2 weeks ago - literally - and have not received my product from these guys. I finally had to report it to PayPal and am awaiting a resolution.

you can buy direct from Navteq.com or eBay.. your manual will tell you how to change out the DVDs...

not possible.. anyway, what he is saying is that when revers sensing came on, his radio volume decreased making sensor easy to hear... now it no longer decreases volume.

well, for 1, wouldn't your nav then always be in "nigh" mode if you have nav... plus, that would be such a hack

Also, when mine expired, I recall that the telephone number is listed WITH the ESN number to make activating easier. Try this..... Menu > System Info > lower left corner you should see "SR ESN:" and there it is

New DVDs are not created by Ford per se. They are requested by Ford that they be made, but they are created and made available by Navteq and you can now, as of like last month, buy a recently released DVD called 7p. Thus far, there has been like 4p, 6p, and now 7p. search these forums for more details on that as it has been covered in depth

I have 2008, with mem power mirrors.. and do not have such a feature. never even heard of it... not even sure I care if I have it BUT if I could do a little wiring to activate it, I likely would for fun. Are you sure this is not one of those MKX versus Edge differences - MKX has it but Edge does not - like the over head BAMR roof control panel light difference?

the DVD does not contain the functionality.. so unfortunately, you will get none of those great new features. the DVD only contain map data. believe me, I wish we could.. but the new nav system is a different maker - Sony - and a different form factor and just.... not the same at all.

Database problems, too much quota exceeded problems.. lately I have seen a number of issues here that prevent forum use, just last week we lost a full 24 hours of usage for example. not that it really matters much in life... just saying

I was raised in Iowa.. in the winters, chipmunks and squirrels and such would crawl for warmth into engine bay.. and some never made it back out... which you only found out later anyway.. just how 'horrible' is 'horrible'? are we talking rotten eggs? like a catalytic converter issue?

I have been all over the Ford accessory part web stores and never seen such a thing. plus IF it did exist, your key FOB would not have a button to open so IF such a thing did exist, expect to carry yet another FOB... but I suspect your only option is the legit Ford installed option you passed on.

just go test drive a new Edge on his day off and err.... 'confiscate' a pair
