  1. So the right passenger side trim molding piece next to the vista roof of my 2008 Edge Limited is rusted and bubbling up. I want to replace it and I am a pretty handy guy (as can be seen by many mods I have done around here years ago). The part to replace is 7T4Z-7851746-A BUT what I am trying to find out is if it is just adhesive backed like some of the other molding so I can heat gun it off? Or is it something more elaborate like going through the headliner or bolts or clips. Anyone have any insight into how this piece is attached and the level of difficulty in replacing it myself?
  2. Having not done it myself mind you, as I am not a torrent user, I do know for a fact it is possible.
  3. can you expand on this? where did you get, how much, install difficulty? oh.. and clean up that dust
  4. nice necropost anyway, I have had the eBay switchblade key for my '08 for over a year now IIRC. Works awesome. Can control my trunk (open/close), doors, emergency alert horn. Search eBay, they are awesome.
  5. if you dot have the Edge specific relay harness, I highly suggest you get it. I was one of the first RS sold HID adopters here. An Edge specific harness did not exist back then. I never had any issues. 2 years later, my SJB kooked out on me. The power flow issue started to make it self known later, but since I never had issues, I blew it off. Now I have the relay harness.
  6. I think the better question is "what is the best camera". the camera - CCD versus CMOS - Night vision, Water proof, Minimum Illumination, size, mounting options.. I think all navi capable unit will give you plenty of quality at the head unit you want. The real weak link is the camera. I vouch for the one I used in my backup camera thread.. CCD, water proof, tiny, small footprint, swivel mounting options, etc. etc
  7. as was said, but I think is crucial to across, get the relay harness he sells as well that is Edge specific if it did not come with it. I know some of his deals come with it but you do not mention it. the whole system is plug and play. just be sure to plug and play with the harness. I don't know about that antiflicker device. I do not have that and have no issues. seems to me the relay harness would address this by smoothing out the power flow. so I think "need" is debatable there.
  8. if not the switch, then likely the motor in the mirror. let them deal with it.
  9. yep, I say common. I have it as well. that "plastic" chrome is pretty cheap-o and mine look poopie also
  10. and from experience, I can tell you that when you put in a key that is not chipped to your car, you can turn the power on, but no turn over. Just FYI.
  11. hmm.. I think er's looks pretty good. I think you can salvage that purchase.
  12. I have the redline ones, search here, I do a write up and some photos IIRC in my thread.
  13. looks pretty good. more and more you see nerf bars, some of the newer BMA CSV's have them for example. theirs are much cooler - satin finish with dozens of rubber foot grippers.
  14. what "trouble" did you have to lead you to need to do this?
  15. not what I expected at all.. not at all are you sure this is akirby??
  16. I like saving $ like the next guy, IF you could reliably cut open the short pigtail and decide the ground, power, RCA "type" connection thats the way to go and it likely is possible BUT then you still need some wiring length anyway. so, the other has all the wiring length so once you deduce what wire is what, no nee to splice in a bunch of length, or have to go buy it, since it is all practically there. except for the 1 wire needing to go to the front of the car. if you has a busted cam, I would just buy no harness and plug and play, since your trying to go from scratch, I would be inclined to get some wiring with it.. unless you know you can (1) reliably source out the wires from that little pig tail and not mess them up and (2) you have enough wiring sitting around the house because if not, prepare to spend $ and go buy some
  17. I feel an akirby response coming....
  18. yeah, the hook might be better and you can still attach a Come-Along, rather than a hitch mounted winch which would be cheaper and easier to stash when not used.
  19. 2.1 is free and you do it yourself 2.0 was charged by some dealers, some were free. I paid 0. some reported anything from 0-100$ totally depends on the dealer. are you sure you dont have 2.0 already?
  20. purchased one what? a stand alone box or the MKX door that has a lock? please explain. Did the MKX have a locking door and you just retrofitted it? Did you have to get it keyed to your key? anyway.... GunVault makes some nice biometric safes that could be mounted under the rear seats.
