something kind of funny and ironic.. I happened to look down and see the banner ad for this page and at the moment I type this... it is for the Treo 650 - So, on the Ford Edge forum, under the Treo 650 not Syncing thread is an ad for you to buy the Treo 650... which you would not be abkle to use on the Edge... I also recently saw this Ford Sync marketing image floating all over the web.... notice the first phone in the ad... a Treo.... yet no Treo works on the Sync system

I like that Voyager.. heck, I love the iPhone for that matter... the bummer is none of them do PDA type work like the Treo. Period. Which sucks. I do wish Treo users had more options.. a true PDA type calendar alone is a single must have function for me and neither the cool Voyager (I have played with it several times trying to find ways to make it work for me so I could move on from Treo) nor the iPhone can manage that type of PDA data. Not to mention, often porting over years worth of calendar events and Memos and ToDo lists and such is impossible as they do not make converters or have suitable application to support your data (i.e, your Treo Memos have no like application on a different phone).

really... the new Venus is not listed, nor is the Motorola MOTO™ Z6c, nor is the MOTORIZR Z6tv, nor is the LG enV, nor is the LG VX8700, nor is the LG VX9400, nor is the Samsung Gleam, nor are the Blackberry 7130e or 8703e... and the list goes on and on and on. All 'newer technology' and all with BT. and all not on the list.

I like this idea and considered doing the exact same on my ordered car. curious, did you just tape up and paint them while on the car, or pull them off, paint, and go thru bleeding the brakes and what not to put them back on? I would think, for these mock up purposes you just did it while on the car and then wonder if you could get paint application all the way around the caliper and if not, that would just leave an avenue for the paint to not adhere over time with original exposed metal on the back side (hard side to reach if done on the car). let me know..

to piggie back what you say about Palm... they are also as about as outdated as you get. they are slow to update, slow to release, slow to change form factors and get more on the cutting edge as compared to say.. a Blackberry PDA. I fully admit when you use a Treo it does feel antiquated.. BUT it does everything I need it to do and many other that use it. The real point with much of this, as you elude to, is that many companies have hundreds of these in circulation. Not to mention all those in the hands of the individual users such as myself. Which is why I firmly believe it is the most common PDA phone out there. Period. It not working with Sync - whether it be a Microsoft bug, carriers bug or Palms bug - is still surprising as you would think whomever's issue it is they would have patched by now. Heck, the several month old Voyager for Verizon works... but not the ubiquitous, been around and used by many a company, business user and personal user - Treo 650. And speaking of Blackberry, Sync lists only 3 models of Blackberry on 3 carriers that works. that is not even that great a potential for usability.

no.. even if a dealer did tint, which I doubt, it would cost WAY more money. Find a local tint company (yellow pages or a place like Craigs List) and have them come to you or go to their retail shop if they have one.

your thinking to myopically about this... first, we are not sure where exactly the issue is. lots of surmising, no actual concrete diagnosis so it is hard to say who one 'whines' to. that fact aside, think about it like this.....if you 'whine' to Ford, it could filter back to where it needs to go. in your opinion, and that of some others... Palm while Ford thinks the carrier. if you 'whine' to Palm, it could filter back to where it needs to go. If you 'whine' to Microsoft, maybe it filters back where it needs to go. If you 'whine' to your carrier, maybe it filters back where it needs to go. Point is, one can't assume that a barrage of complaints to anyone of 4 possible culprits may not, in the end, filter back to the technology company with the answer to the issue and they work to rectify it. Finally, be rest assured... Iam walking the walk as I have made a concerted effort to contact both my carrier and Palm (call and email) about the issue to get them aware of it as I would love to use the feature at some point in the future. So, I am (as are many others) 'whining' to all fronts as in the end, you never know which front will finally bring about a change. Now, as for assuming they "implemented the bluetooth interface standards correctly" because "it works with several phones" - that does not hold that much water nor is it 'proof' of anything conclusive. At this moment, they confirm list about 42 phones across 6 carriers. That is an average of 7 phones working per carrier, but the reality is that some carriers only have 2-3 possible phones out of their 'current' selection of dozens of phones in their line up (not to mention past phones from their lineup or the hundreds of BT compatible phones out there). So, when you really look at it, it is not all that impressive amount of cell phone usability. I await your forth coming response... which I am sure is on its way

I am curious what you guys might use, if anything. I have not used one in like 10 years, but always had a fascination with them and was curious if people are still using them, what they have found that works well (or not).

now the question is... is that plug you reference at the end of an extension of the harness - say a 1 foot cable extension - added at the factory that is actually plugged into a harder to access plug farther up the line and is just added to make the plug closer to the hitch and accessible.. or is that accessible plug up there and on every 2008 just waiting to get used IF you have a tow package added? it would be cool if someone with a 2008 and NO tow package looked around under this general area to see if they could see said plug.

have weathertech cargo area and mats in my VW and already priced them out for the Edge. Someone mentioned ordering from realtruck.com BUT at this moment they only have the 'Extreme Duty" version mats which are full overkill as weathertech makes a more affordable and of similar stoutness mat called the "All Weather"... these are much cheaper and just as nice for this kind of car. have them in my VW for years and they are awesome and plenty beefy. see my gallery for my installed Weathertech cargo mat and OEM rubber all weather Ford Edge floor mats

I would highly 'suspect' that on the car somewhere is a factory plug that you can tap a harness into without cutting a single wire. especially after reading the above post and just thinking logically. for those that get cars with the hitch setup, it is not like someone at the factory is sitting and splicing them into the existing wires to make it work 1-by-1, they undoubtedly see the order and plug in a harness to the existing plug located somewhere on that car. they would try to make this stuff as plug and play and as modular as possible to quickly slap on if ordered. the question is, as you say, where is the plug and are these after market harnesses (I have read a couple references to them) plugging into that plug and extending out to the hitch or what? having to run a wire to the battery implies it needs power... but if it plugged into the factory plug hidden somewhere, it should draw power from that. so not sure what what the story is.

I am going to go this exact route - but install myself as I am pretty handy and I have - as Spicole said - 'an awesome set of tools' few quick questions not totally clear nor on their website: 1. did it come with the mounting nuts/washers/bolts as well, or did the guy provide them? 2. did that hitch come with a cover/plug? 3. are you saying it came with a wiring harness that you just plug into the factory wiring plug already there but just hidden/pushed up under the car waiting to be used? (steps 3-4 I am not visually following) 4. is that round or square tubing?

First, notice this post of mine came at 7:28 PM while the Treo post came at 9:37 - so the Treo comment in that other post was information learned hours later. That changes the way you should look at the comments across these 2 posts. Second, I didn't "just prove" anything in that other post. That was 1 interesting comment on a board of hundreds of posts that I bought here as it adds an element of interest. there is no "proof" it is the phone makers... and I made that clear there. it was just an interesting claim/comment by some guy with no confirmation or actual 'proof'. Just as you have no actual 'proof' it is in the phones and not a sync issue..you are also just some guy with an interesting comment. but, I do appreciate you following me around and keeping an eye on me though

I found this post interesting on another site. it has interesting implications if true.. "I have a Treo 755p and a Ford Edge. I was able to connect with a Ford Engineer that develops Sync. They have developed a patch with Palm to fix the 755p connection issue, but according to him, Palm needs to release it (i.e. this is a Phone issue, not a Sync issue). I look forward to getting this released."

pretty cool... now, I wonder along with these updates, if they would be able to offer a software augmentation that would allow more phones to be used with that system so that the 911 upgrade could actually work for everyone? Also, I would assume, looking at the syncmyride.com website ( http://syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/FaqManag....aspx?tagId=125 ) that they will make this download available there so that the consumer can perform the update on their own via the USB port. The health check is a sweet idea.

exactly why on the 2008 Limited I negotiated with the dealer to give me the SEL "18 inch premium painted aluminum wheels" - plus that got me a 489 credit back as it was a 'down grade' - but to me it was an 'upgrade'. so in the end, I got an all aluminum wheels, money back, and IF I ever decide to upgrade to after market custom rims, mine will be easier to sell as they are all aluminum (no plastic chrome clad) and I put less money into buying them so could better justify ditching them for custom wheels as I needed to drive off the lot with some wheels.

big fan and believer of K&N.. use them in my VW Passat and in a 1974 Toyota FJ40 with a crate 350.. had planned from day one, when I took delivery of my Edge, to buy one as well.

I did not ask you to tell me again. you elected to mention it again. long ago I understood - as I have written - but you seem to more repeat than I do. As a matter of fact, you just laid out the same stuff - by your own choice - again and it still does not answer my main current question. So let me restate it so you get it: can any one definitively say a price increase went into effect on base model cost and vista roof? no guess, no surmise, you know for sure and when? did you get that? that is the current question. what you posted is old news to me and you just keep repeating it. it seems people need to better read the threads and see how conversations twist and turn. I am not asking for the same info over and over, you guys are opting to give me the same info over and over like I am so dumb I did not get it. I have more specific questions, but I get the same general answer. again. as though I did not get it the first time. so, I must follow up at times. As well, a follow up question to a comment/answer does not mean you did not get the original answer... it means it raised a separate question. now, before you go spouting off about me posting on several different websites the same question - which is not cool to point a finger like that like I did something wrong: 1. who really cares dude? 2. who would know the same people visit here and there. there is as much chance a person hangs here but not there and vise versa. 3. the question on the other forum was specific to X-Plan and since I got my X-Plan data there, I went back to X-Plan experts to get an answer. a totally logical thing to do and also notice most of what I ask here are more general questions...

everything is negotiable my friend..... (you just have to ask and be prepared with the correct intel should they bite) even the wheels I wanted from an SEL on a Limited that everyone - including people here and at the dealer (like my Salesman) - said 'is just not possible'. anyway.... we can let this rest and move on .. nothing more to add and my last follow up will be after talking to the dealer on the topic

thanks for the concern. My topic(s) - if you really review them - started and cover several different things originally and, as the nature of conversation and life takes twists and turns - converge on some things. Some were straight questions started, some were others that evolved into a similar topic. not my plan or goal, such is the way of conversing as things twist and turn, etc. it is of no never mind to me if someone combines threads/topics and what not if it is that big a deal. But, just because you and I are heavy into these several topics does not mean the next guy is and when he reads a topic title A it might pull him in as of interest of relevance to him while another B may not. yes, in this case they might converge in places, but they were all started for various reasons and 1 key question deep in one only a few of us are reading might get a better answer - which it did in this case - by someone who comes across a thread title they were interested in and participate at that level.
