  1. Don't need them on the rear as you can see in the above photo.....however, I did order the front ones from the dealer, and I just installed them yesterday.

:stop::redcard:However, be aware that the instructions included are not exactly correct. :redcard::stop:

These same mud-flaps are a 'one size fits all' product from Ford. They are made to install on the Edge, MKX, Explorer, & Navigator.

If you follow the enclosed instructions as I did, you will wind up returning them to the dealer, as I did, to have them order another set (at their cost). :finger: The mud-flaps have a template on them with vehicle-designated marking where you are supposed to drill your mounting holes.....if you drill them as indicated in the instructions, they will wind up being install very crooked :banghead: , and look terrible.

The only "Hole Location" that is correct is the "E" hole. The remaining two holes will need to be created by you (the installer) near the designated "Hole Locations" of "M" & "U". I first drilled the "U" hole in the mud-flap using a 1/8' bit (not the 1/4" sized bit the instructions tell you), mounted the mud-flap(s) using the existing screw in the wheel-well, then using a level make them straight, I made my own markings to drill the remaining two "Hole Locations" before drilling into the sheet-metal of the wheel-well. Also the instructions say to use a 7mm wrench to remove the existing screw ("U")....totally wrong, not even close, with or without a conversion to US....it turned out to be a 7/32" wrench.

If you read the printed instructions first and then compare them to what I described above BEFORE you start or drill any holes, it will all make sense, and you'll save time and frustration. When I returned the first set to the dealer, the Parts Manager totally agreed with me that the instructions were bogus...no problems there at all. :yup: I also used a black silicone sealant on the holes I drilled into the sheet-metal.

Please let me know if you have any questions in case I left something out.

    - Paul

do you have the exact part number for these please?

    answer: 7T4Z-16A550-A ..... $25

  2. So, I am not a fan of the chrome 'clad' wheels. I think it is very cheap and wouldn't roll with them. As for dealer options, I really like the looks of the the "optional 18 premium painted aluminum wheels" (see here as the middle rim http://www.fordvehicles.com/util/uad/index...083&nType=2 ) BUT it seems they say that this is not even an 'option' on the Limited Edge, but only an option on the SEL.. this can't be totally true, no? Why could I not have any rim they offered on the Edge I want?

  3. So, when considering the Edge, a Vista roof is a MUST for me. but, this means no bike racks and I race bikes so travel a lot with them. this means, the only real viable option is a hitch mount bike rack system. So, I have seen after market hitches for about $150 and I am very mechanically inclined so could mount myself no problem as their 'tow package' is pricey and comes with other items like oil cooler and larger radiator I do not need to carry bike racks.

so, (1) anyone else put on their own hitch and (2) do you have photos and (3) how did it interfere with the rear body/bumper - did you have to alter/cut that at all?

  4. first, where in socal are you and where did you get your Edge... I am in SoCal also.

Second, what color is your Edge? White Sand or Creme Brulee - sorry, cannot tell? UPDATE.. I went to your gallery and now see it is Creme Brulee and looks sweet

third, that limo tint and front missing plate can get you into hot water here in SoCal... no tint on front and driver technically :) but I would do the same as i have limo tint on my current car and all cars prior. very nice... I would model my car after your look as I think it is tight. I might do darker wheels though, not sure yet how black rims would look on Creme Brulee.

also, did you get a correct part number for those tips as what you listed, as mentioned above, does not look the same for what you have.

last, did you do the hitch after market, or is that their overly pricing hitch package?

  5. FWIW, and it seems no one is reporting this here and it is important to know... I read on the syncmyride.com that they will/can have updates for that Sync system and you can download and update your Sync as updates come available - nstalled via the USB port. So, likely you download the latest update, attach a flash drive via the USB and update the software.

"Updates can be downloaded onto a USB storage drive and then installed in your Sync system via your vehicle’s USB port. System upgrades will be available through your Ford, Mercury and Lincoln dealership.

More details on updates will be announced as the syncmyride.com website"

    see that info here: http://syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/FaqManag....aspx?tagId=103

so stay tuned and watch that website!

  6. thanks!

I found out some info on #5.... the current DVD out for that system is labeled 6p - that does not mean you get a 6p, just that it is available.

You should see what you have as I would be very curious to know if the 2008 came with the 6p (or some earlier model like 2p, 3p, 4p...). Please look and report back.

That being said, they run about 150$ per DVD when new ones come out, but you can find them cheaper on eBay.

  7. Hunt around on ebay - I just got a 6p disc for $70.

I see no such 6p DVD discs now or sold recently off eBay in completed sales. I see only 2p.

what search terms did you use?

UPDATE: search these terms on eBay to find them more affordably than dealer or navteq: "2008 FORD NAVIGATION 6P"

  8. White Sand is closer to true white. There is no Oxford white available on the edge so we went with White Sand Just took delivery on 12/29 I like the color alot! We didnt get a 2007 because my Fiancee hated the yellow tint of the Creme brulee... So we waited a year and Voila Ford rethought their white options. Very elegant color for the edge. Very close to the whte mettalic of the Cadillac Escalade

So, for the Edge options, if I sought a 'white' color - I would go with White Sand... agreed?

  9. SO, I have either read/heard conflicting info on these items or cannot find the actual answer..

    1. Does the 2008 have puddle lights below the doors like the Subaru Tribeca?

    2. Does the 'universal' remote control garage door opener on the visor work on newer model (last 5 year) garage door openers that recycle their codes each usage?

    3. can you disable the power lift gate and make it manual if you want/need?

    4. do the interior lights slowly fade down over a few seconds after you close the doors or just shut right off like a light switch?

    5. On the DVD nav system, how often is the DVD updated, do they send you newer ones or do you have to buy newer ones AND do you get the most current version when you buy the Edge or one from last year or whatever they have sitting around?

    thanks!

  10. OK.......here's what I did and it seems to have fixed it. While I was waiting for my husband to get home, I finally got it to select "power lift gate off" on the message display and I shut it manually. Then I reset it to "power lift gate on" and the lift gate shut properly. I'm thinking it reset it somehow.

so, you are saying that you can disengage the auto open and close feature on the 2008 lift gate and run it manually?

I am wondering this as sometimes I might go to Home Depot and get some wood object that needs to stick out the back until I get home. On my current VW wagon (I hate that car) I can just tie down the tailgate or leave it open just a tad while camping and sleeping in back. can this be done on the 2008 power lift gate because it seems it is all or nothing (100% open or 100% closed), but your post makes it sound like that option can be turned off to make it fully manual?

  11. I have scoured the web and the Ford edge site and Google images and the local dealers.. I cannot find any good high quality images that show me the difference between these 2 colors side by each. I have seen, in person at the dealer and on this site (Biff215 and Cliffs Edge), the Creme Brulee and it seems to be a 'creamy white' (a yellowish tint for lack of a better explanation) while I have not seen a White Sand in person or anywhere (except kmhibbs photos here) and wonder is the White Sand closer to actual true white 'white' or yet another variation of off white with a creamy mix like closer to brown? At the top of this website in the header image next to the Redfire is a White Sand I assume?

Anyway the point is, I like the Creme Brulee but am looking for the color closets to a true white.... which would be?

this website shows the little baby photos - all one can find - and it seems the White Sand is actually white? http://www.myfordedge.com/specs/2008-ford-...aint-colors.php
