  1. Engine oil was not overfilled, but when I checked it, I did look at the fluid levels and it appears that NONE of them were topped up! I don't know about you, but when I'm (over)paying for a service, I expect it to be done correctly. After all, if I was a little old person with absolutely no mechanical knowledge, low coolant or other fluids could lead to a major malfunction or, heaven forbid, a nasty wreck! I did call Ford's customer care on Tuesday but as yet, have not had any kind of response from Ford or the dealer. Poor show, Ford.
  2. Well, I got the switch replaced (or at least I think they replaced it, there's nothing on the invoice!!) and did end up having to pay the $100. The dealer charged me over $55 for The Works package and after I commented, gave me a refund of about $7.50! Needless to say, that's the last time they get to work on MY car! The previous dealer charged just the $39.95 (plus tax and fees for a total of about $46), so even though they're not as convenient (I changed jobs and towns), I'll go back there next time. Oh, and I just checked. They charged me for SEVEN quarts of oil. The manual says that the capacity is only 5.5 quarts. I think they'll be getting a nasty phone call on Monday. I know it's not a lot of money but there's a principle here. If they did that to me, how much are they overcharging everyone else? ...and they wonder why dealers are mistrusted!
  3. I've had the problem on my '11 Ltd for some time now. Of course, I have the keyless option, which doesn't work if the door isn't closed (or the sensor doesn't see it as such), so I can't touch-lock the car. I have to slam the door several times before it finally sees it as closed, which worries me as I could be doing more damage to the door mechanisms. I have an extended warranty with a $100 deductible, so I don't want to pay out unnecessarily. Due for an oil change in about a week or so and I'll get the dealer to look at it at that time. I changed jobs and location recently, so this will be a new experience at a new dealer!
  4. I haven't been back through this thread, but is anyone else having dimming display problems? I have had to mess with my settings because the main screen display was dimming itself. A quick switch on and off of the lights fixes it, but it's very annoying! Now it's set too bright and seems to be independent of the display dimmer settings.
  5. I would doubt it as you are effectively buying a used car. However, it may be active from the original owner and you could have some residual connection. I bought a 2011 Edge Limited in December and Sirius stayed active until the middle of last month. I then put my serial # into siriusxm.com and it said I qualified for a 60 day trial, so I ended up with close to six months free in total.
  6. What you SHOULD get and what you DO get are two different things! I bought my '11 Limited from a dealer and only got one - and I have the intelligent entry. A new spare is going to cost over $200. Will the dealer do anything for me? Not really. He offered me a spare at his cost and to program it for free, but as he's over an hour away, it'll be cheaper to buy one online and pay a local dealer to program it (with only one, it can't be programmed by the user).
  7. Well, the bad news is that my SiriusXM stopped working overnight (worked on the way home, was gone driving in this morning). I'm due to head down to Florida tomorrow, so this was bad timing! The good news is, I went to the website and went here, entered my radio details and it told me I was eligible. All I had to do then was create an account and there it was, 60 days of SiriusXM Select for free! I've marked my calendar to call when it expires to cancel and I'll see what offers I get at that time. I know for sure that I won't be paying $15 a month - it's just not worth it!
  8. I bought my '11 Limited (w/Nav) less than two months ago and the SiriusXM radio has been active since I got it. There is a special through 2/12 where all radios are active. However, since Saturday, I've been seeing the "You're not subscribed" message, although when dismissed, it is still working. It does appear that I'm only getting the free channels though. Will I get the service back after Feb 12th or will I have to call and subscribe? It's nice to have, but it's certainly not worth the amount they're asking for it! I had XM before and was able to keep renewing for around $25 for 5/6 months. Can anyone confirm what deals there are available now? Thanks
  9. Have you tried logging into syncmyride.com? It'll tell you if there's an update available.
  10. Not sure why Omar is telling everyone to do a master reset because there is no need. The only time you need to perform a master reset is if the update fails.
  11. Er, no. There is absolutely no need to perform a master reset before OR after the update unless it fails!
  12. UPDATE: So far, so good! I got the car on 12/8 and here we are with few issues. I have noticed the disappearing Sirius channels, but it doesn't bother me at all. I know what they are! My new SD Card is due to arrive today, so I'm ready to perform the upgrade when I get home (or maybe wait until the weekend).
  13. That's exactly what it is. Go to the settings and turn autoplay off and your problem is resolved. I had the same issue and resolved it by reading the manual and checking the settings!
  14. I checked my engine yesterday and it appears that a rodent has got into the garage and chewed into the engine cover (the part that goes over the engine and has a big Ford emblem in the middle). If you are parting out your Edge and are willing to part with the cover, let me know. Thanks.
  15. Gee, thanks! I resolved the problem with the help of an email to Lund. I had the end flanges in the window channel instead of between the rubber and the post. I was able to relocate them last night (took less than five minutes for all four) and everything works perfectly now.
  16. I installed a set of the AVS wind deflectors, the in-channel kind, last night, but there appears to be a problem. Of course, I won't know for sure until I test them after 24 hours, but it seems that when I open the windows (all four of them), the deflector springs back out and into the path of the returning window! The only way I can close a window is to hold the deflector out while pressing the button and even then it takes a few attempts to get it right! Is there a secret to installing them so this doesn't happen? No matter how good they look, I can't live with that and if it's the case, I'll have to remove and return them to Amazon. I've already had to return one set because they arrived cracked! TIA.
  17. This is probably a dumb question and I'm sure I'm overlooking something simple. When scanning radio stations, some show up as HD and others show multiple channels on the same frequency (HD 1 2 3, etc.). How do you tune to the other channels on the same frequency? Pushing the Scan or Tune buttons take you to the next frequency and I can't see a way to just swap channels to see what the other offerings are. TIA.
  18. I'm in the same position. the dealer has offered to get one for me at his cost and program it for free, but he's two hours away! I found them online for $120 here so I need to find out how much to program it locally. It'll save me $40 in gas plus at least five hours of my time to drive back to the dealer! There are used ones on fleabay starting at around $50, but a key blank is another $20 and it's a risk!
  19. Thanks, guys. Liking it so far! Had a small scare last night. I went to meet friends and was early, so I was looking through the list of SiriusXM stations when the screen froze. I restarted the car and it went in to System Maintenance' mode. After a few minutes it came back and all seems ok now.
  20. Hi all, I picked up a 2011 Edge Limited (301A) yesterday, but it came with only one IA fob. I obviously need to get another one for the wife/as a backup. Where is the best place to get one? Am I best to got to the local Ford dealer? The dealer I got the car from has told me he'll get on for me at cost and program it for free, but he is almost 2 hours away. I guess I may be able to get him to mail it to me and pay to get it programmed locally. Any help appreciated.
  21. I'm taking a two hour drive tomorrow to look at a 2011 Limited with the 301A package (HID lights, Panorama roof, Nav and Driver Entry package) and 20" rims. It has 35,2xx miles and is only $21,500 - saving about $8500 from KBB dealer retail! The reason for the low price is that it was subject to a manufacturer buyback because of the MyFordTouch system, which has been completely replaced and there is complete documentation concerning the issue, which I will check out tomorrow before I commit. The salesman has pulled it from the lot for me so I don't waste my trip. The only thing I'm going to push for is a Ford extended warranty and, provided it checks out, I will be an Edge owner by this time tomorrow! BTW Jim: I'm from the UK too. Been here 15 years and originally from London/Essex border.
  22. Well, I've decided that if all checks out, I'm going for it! We'll make the trip to the dealer tomorrow. He says he has full documentation as to what went down "in the interest of full disclosure", so I'll check that out. I intend to get an extended warranty, whether I can get them to include it or add it at a cheaper rate. I got a copy of the original invoice for the car today and that shows that it was delivered to a dealer in Wisconsin and has the 301A package that includes HID headlights, Panoramic roof, Navigation and Driver Entry Package. The latter excites me as I had a Camry with the fob entry and I know how good it can be! I always wanted remote start too. Living in Georgia we get some very hot days in the summer and cold nights in the winter!! ETA: Forgot to mention the 20" rims too.
  23. It is shown on an Autocheck report. I spoke to the dealer and he has full documentation of everything that happened - all service visits and what was done to put it right. He is offering me full disclosure. I know it means squat, but he also told me that since 1999, this particular dealer has been selling these vehicles and they would give me a fair market value when it came time to trade it. I have also spoken to the local service department and a local salesman or two and all have told me that I should go for it. On another forum, two people have owned '12 or '13 Explorers and returned them within a few months because of the problems with the MFT. I think now if I go for it, I would have no more issues than someone buying one new. I will check that the APIM has been replaced and the latest software installed.
