  1. I was stunned to find that the paint on leading edges of both rear wheel arches on my '07 Edge is bubbling. The local dealer was quick to point out that at 110,000 Km, I can participate in Ford's cost share program --for a minimum ante of $250, or... hope that the panels perforate before 5-years... because that's the only way Ford will do anything. Memories of rusty fords all over again! I'll decide what to do in my case, meanwhile... I encourage all Edge owners to regularly inspect their wheel arches for similar problems.
  2. 3P and 4P are version numbers of map DVD's for the Nav system. The original disc, was version 3P and provided by Pioneer --the makers of the system. 4P is the update DVD, offered by Navteq --who made the map software. It sells (from Navteq direct) for $149US.
  3. Navteq offers an upgrade disc (4P) for the nav system. Has anyone purchased one and compared it to DVD-3P --which is the factory installed disc (supplied by Pioneer) If so, is it worth it? Also, I'm pulling out my hair trying to find what to buy inorder to enable voice command... Pioneer won't talk because they sub-contracted to Ford on this, etc,; and, neither any Ford dealers, nor customer service personnel have any answers. Pioneer does have an voice command activation module but no one can tell me if it will work in this unit. Has anyone explored this? Thanks.
  4. The "dock" is strictly a stereo audio input jack. It's convenient, and the lip of the console has been cut to allow the iPod to remain outside for the user to control. I leave mine in the console, and listen to whatever is playing. I did notice that there is a considerable volume loss using the stereo jack. Even with the iPod cranked to full volume, you cannot amplify it much. So... if you switch between SR and FM and your iPod, you have to keep changing the volume.
  5. At $46K loaded --save the DVD player-- only a marketer or dealer would call the Edge plebian-priced. I was so ready to trade that I would have taken the first MKX or Edge on my dealer's lot that met my basic needs... AWD, BAMR, SR and Nav.. As it turned out, the Edge had the edge --bolder nose, OK interior, and $8K cheaper. Oh, did I mention that I couldn't find an in-stock MKX that met the basic criteria. Oh well, after 10-years of sports/muscle car driving, it's a new and different world! I may pine over not holding out for an MKX, but right now, I'm enjoying the heck out of my plebian ride, and have survived the anticipated withdrawal from my :hyper: '04 Cobra!
  6. Does anyone know where I can get tech. help with the Nav. system in the Edge? Neither Navtec or Ford are talking. Actually the nav. part is OK, it's the very limited POI's (points-of-interest) and the smart(aleck)spell feature that are causing me fits. I'm considering re-uping my Garmin c330 --which I affectionately call "Martha". For a system that's supposed to be "next generation" it appears to be light years behind, but 5-times the cost of, my Garmin. I hope I'm missing something! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. You heard right. After an '02 GT, an '01 Cobra 'vert, and finally an '04 Cobra vert, my muscle car days appear to be over.... I was so impressed with the Expedition that I drove for five days over Christmas, that I calmly walked away from the car of my boyhood dreams, in favour of the best of what the Expedition and Fusion have to offer... an Edge. I think I just punched a hole in the back-side of my mid-life crisis! Now, does anyone know where I can buy gentlemen's shoes???
  8. I'd like to add my thanks to the Edge team... I turned in my screamin' yellow '04 Cobra 'vert for a dark amethyst SEL w/ AWD and the BAMR! Love it. Fit and finish are excellent, and it is soooooooooo quiet! Thanks, and good luck!
